Attention Simone: Help needed for intense bunion pain

Dear Simone,

My 60 year old brother, who works as an auto mechanic experienced sudden pain and swelling in his left ankle. The pain radiated about 6 inches up the left inner side of leg. Initially pain was better from movement and worse from resting.

He took the following remedies in wet dose, Arnica 200C, Ruta 200C followed by Rhus Tox 200C. All of the listed remedies gave some relief but pain still persists.

Today when my brother woke up a bunion became painful and inflamed. Ankle, bunion and big toe are swollen but there is no redness. Skin is puffy and areas are tender. Pain no longer radiates up leg.

Sharp pain is felt upon movement, dull pain while resting. Stiffness occurs in ankle and bunion. Pain and stiffness are worse from movement, better from resting. Walking is difficult. Heat application is preferred because it is more soothing.

My brother experienced same symptoms a year ago. Blood test results ruled out high uric acid levels. Colchicine was prescribed and relieved symptoms.

My brother has bulging blue/purple varicose veins on the inner thigh of his left leg.

He is addicted to coffee and drinks 4 cups daily. I think that his body may be too acidic.

Sincere thanks for your help.

Declan.

Hi Declan,

I think he should first see an MD- so
they can rule out any blood clots or other
hidden things first. Please do that just to be on the safe side.

After that if he wants treatment, post again, but some things need
to be seen in person and this is one of them.

Dear Simone,

My brother visited doctor today. He said that since the ankle was swollen favoring the foot may have caused the bunion to become inflamed. Area is hot to touch. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug called Indomethacin was prescribed. My brother was asked to take pills for 24 hours. If inflammation does not subside then a blood test and X-Ray will be done.

Will you kindly suggest a remedy for my brother. This morning he took 2 wet doses of Urticaria Urens 30C. There is an improvement in relation to the pain. Stiffness persists with difficulty walking. I wish to thank you for your prompt response. Declan

Hi Declan,

Try 3 doses of Sulphur 30c with 6 hour gaps.
If there is a reaction after dose one or two of getting worse - stop at that dose
and wait and observe. Do not give another dose unless there is relapse.

Mix 3 pills into about a half cup of water, stir and take a tsp for a dose,
have him hold in his mouth for 20 seconds before swallowing.

You can report after the 3 doses.

Best,

Simone

Dear Simone,

My brother did not take the Sulphur remedy that you suggested. He needed urgent treatment. The doctor at the Emergency Room prescribed Indomethacin. My brother took 5 doses. The swelling of the dorsum of left foot, bunion and big toe has gone down.

At this time the ankle joint is still stiff, swollen and painful.
Blood test results are normal. Uric acid is within normal range.

X-Ray shows mild degenerative changes of first metatarsophalangeal joint with narrowing and osteophyte formation.
Medically there is mild soft tissue swelling.
Hammertoe deformity is noted.
Decreased plantar spur.

Diagnosis: Possibly gout.

Medical History:
Peptic ulcer. Now healed.

Current ailments:
Chronic toenail fungus. Thick fungal growth under big toenails.

Bulging blue/ purple varicose veins on left inner thigh. No pain.

Chronic anal fissure that bleeds intermittently. This is due to hemorrhoids.

Profession: Auto Mechanic. Stands all day.

My brother is a blood type O but he does not follow a strict gluten and wheat free diet. He cheats frequently. He does not eat enough protein or vegetables. He likes sugar. He drinks soy milk with 6 Grams of sugar. He eats donuts and lots of rice cereal with sugar. He adds Stevia to his coffee which he is addicted to. Blood type O are not supposed to drink coffee because of the acidity.

Prior to his gout attack he applied diluted vinegar to his toes daily for two weeks. He thought that this would cure toenail fungus. Perhaps the vinegar acidified his blood and altered the PH.
I contacted a reiki healer and she said that he probably has a toxic liver and kidneys.

Can you please recommend a remedy.

Thank you for your help. Declan

Hi Declan,

Is your brother willing to answer questions, and do homeopathic treatment?

Is he willing to do diet changes?

He needs to be an active participant.
