The ABC Homeopathy Forum

it is just water (h20) not magic

Homeopathy is just water being administered with the equivalent quantity of active ingrediate as putting one picoliter of substance in the earth's entire ocean!!!! (in other words) its is just WATER. The explained effects are Placebo effects not the "Homeopathic ~Magic~"

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
next time you have a real good hang-over --take 1 dose of nux-vomica (that water)--then write back about the placebo

Animals are also cured by that WATER.
Would they believe in homeopathy too???

I started off very sceptical about homeopathy but have taken it when conventional medicine failed, and it worked.

Personaly I don't care if it is placebo, though I don't believe it is, or it wouldn't be (!)

So long as I feel better.

This is for the Moderator:

Dear Simon,

Can you request some of the leading homeopathic medicine companies to give us data about the quantities of medicines sold around the world by them?

Is there a fix available on the number of people using homeopathic medicines

or

no. of homeopathic doctors in the world

or

no. of homeopathic hospitals in the world

>>>>

that should convince many people.....

Many thanks.

Best regards,

Hi All,

I'm not sure how relevent it is to this thread, but anyway:

In the USA, figures are available for 1996: 2.5 million people used homeopathy and there were 3,000 practioners. (source encarta)

Globally, the picture is much more blurred: The only thing I can comment along those lines is that homeopathy is the 4th (though some say 2nd) most popular form of medicine in the world, after Chinese Herbal, Ayuverda, and Chiropractic (source WHO, cited at http://www.gfmer.ch/TMCAM/WHO_Minelli/P3-3.htm). Some would suggest that the popularity of Chinese medicine and Ayuverda is down to the massive populations of their native countries.

More statistics would be interesting if anyone has them.

Many thanks Simon !

As I can see in India, Ayurvedic form of medication is more popular than homeopathy. Ayurvedic form has its origins in and around India.

However, homeopathy would be the third most popular form in India.

you should go and find some information about the concept of resonnace in connection with homeopathy. vithoulkas gave same great explanaitions. you probably find that on the internet. you also should get info on kirlian pictures or -fotographs. this explains why it is the vital force and not the body part, that's "broken".
after reading this and thinking about it, you might understand, why this "water" will help - and nothing else...:-)

Joe-you may also keep thinking that it's just water and a bunch of lies. That's your right.

Sorry guys, but the original poster is correct. Hundreds of clinical trials have been done and none show any improvement in effect over placebo.

If you'd like to know more about homeopathy type 'homeopathy' and 'james randi' into You Tube, where you can see a video explaining how it works.

An excellent article here for all the skeptics: Defending Homeopathy

Thanks for the link. I have read many such articles both pro and against homeopathy.

I can safely say that all of the points made in the article can and have been proven to be refuted.

It says:
'Our detractors 'know' that highly diluted substances can’t effect physiology; therefore, they 'know' that homeopathy can’t possibly work.' I'm afraid that this is wrong. Knowing is not enough - scientists have actually tested this over 200 times to satisfy homeopathic practitioners who go the extra step and claim that the benefit is actually provable and measurable. Not a single study has shown benefit over placebo.

'It is a belief, much like a religious conviction, programmed by their training and reinforced by years of propaganda.'

This is essentially what homeopathy is.

I find it amousing how the author has the gaul to mention:
'It is not that people can’t learn from new information, but rather that they avoid information which contradicts their beliefs.'

This is called confirmation bias and is what all homeopathy practitioners are doing when they cite cases where they claim it has worked., neglecting to mention any negative cases.

'There is sufficient data supporting homeopathy to convince anyone willing to look at it. The critics of homeopathy simply ignore the facts, while repeating their mantra about high dilutions.'

There is no such data in existence. Any data presented to scientists is not reliable data unless it is independently verified and tested.

So in conclusion, homeopathy cannot be defended - it is an illusion, a belief and does not work.

...except for the 500 million people worldwide who use homeopathy because it works... ;^)
