Re-occuring ear infection in 20 month old

I've posted in the past about a raptured eardrum and now my little girl is having ear trouble again and this time I'd like to skip the antibiotics.
She has had a runny nose for the past 5 days. It started suddenly but was intense. No fever or loss of appetite until today. Still no fever but is very grumpy, wants to be comforted and is n't eating as much. She pulled a little on her ear and I checked it and saw that the inside, up to the eardrum, is very red.
Still a lot of discharge from the nose clear and sometimes yellowy-green.
She is prone to ear infections, this being her 3rd in under a year.

Please advise. Thanks.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
silicea 200 three doses at a gap of 12 hours.

if no relief within few days...
sulphur 30 in the morning and evening for 2 days.

if still no relief...
if she is of mild disposition, pulsatilla 200 three doses at a gap of 12 hours.
if she has an irritable disposition and constipated bowels, calc carb 200 three doses at a gap of 12 hours.

Thanks Dr Kadwa! I forgot to mention that it's the left ear this time and she also has a mucousy cough and a slightly red face. I don't know if this changes anything I just thought I'd mention it.

Dr.Kadwa I'd appreciate your help again. I had a problem getting my hands on the silica. The pharmacies in my country were on strike yesterday and I managed to get them today. Dr saw her yesterday and said both ears are infected and now she has a low grade fever. Do I go ahead and give her the silica or do you advise to give her something else.
Thanks

Please implement what is suggested earlier. It may help.

Im just a mom, but usually, if I can keep the boogies running clear, when they get colds, the ear infections stay away. So, I do puls when they are thick and yellow/green. that's usually all I have to use.

mamatomany last decade
Dr Kadwa, if silica doesn't work (tomorrow morning will be her last dose) how many days do I wait? What if her symptoms get worse? She still has an appetite which is good, but her face is sometimes a little flushed and her temperature goes up.

Thanks mamatomany! The thing is that her ears get infected before nasal discharge gets a chance to turn thick and yellow/green!
Puls is a household remedy, lol! My other daughter had a cold and pain in her ear but we managed to beat it with pulsatilla. Unfortunately the little one has other symptoms and more intense, plus the fact she's still too young to blow her nose doesn't help!

If she is not becoming worse, please wait for 2-3 days and then decide. Otherwise you may start sulphur 30.

I've been reading about home remedies and especially about using warm olive oil with garlic to help with ear infection.
Do you believe this is safe to use at this age and would this clash with the homeopathic remedy?

rania1403 last decade
It won't clash. Please be careful and do it only in a gentle way.

kadwa last decade
I was afraid to put garlic oil in her ear.
I have an otoscope and her ears are still red. If i wasn't able to check them I would assume she was better because her behaviour is normal. She is cheerful and has a good appetite. I try to give her less dairy to help lessen the mucous production. Her nasal discharge doesn't seem to stop, which in turn causes her cough. Discharge from nose is of same consistency, doesn't run that easily, only when she cries and when I wipe it. It's clear, yellowish and sametimes greenish but not thick.
Her right ear is still red, but not as deep in colour. In some areas it looks a little yellowish but not bulging like it has collected pus. Unfortunately her other ear has quite a bit of wax and can't see all that well. It's still red, but not sure about the eardrum.
Dr. Kadwa, I'm taking this as an improvement (still a little unsure). If her ear is still this way tomorrow (2+ days after last silica) should I go ahead and give her the sulphur?
Please advise. Thanks

rania1403 last decade
You may repeat a single dose of Silicea 200 if you feel that she is doing well and an additional dose will speed up the recovery. In that case decision on Sulphur should be taken after 1-2 days.

kadwa last decade
Dr Kadwa I gave her the silica as the ear appeared less inflamed and took it as a sign of improvemnt. I checked it before (she doesn't like me checking it, I assume it's painful) 24 hrs after silica and it is less red, but the eardrum has a strange yellowy colour and worst of all has what looks like blisters.
This has made me worry as the threat of the eardrum rapturing has resurfaced. It was not a normal site.
What should I do?

rania1403 last decade
Dr Kadwa, i looked inside her ear and it looks like bubbles are trapped under the eardrum. There is dicoloration, not as red any more, but these bubbles/ ulcers/blisters are yellowy and clear. She doesn't let me take a long look. Other than that she appears normal. Regular eating/ sleeping patterns.

I think I should give her the sulphur 30 if you agree. Twice a day as you suggested?
It's morning here and I will wait a while for your reply. It has started to worry me because it has been a week now.

rania1403 last decade
Please give her a single dose of Silicea 200 and let the decision on Sulphur be deferred by 1-2 days.

kadwa last decade
I have given her a single dose 2 days ago. You mean to give her another?

rania1403 last decade
Please specify. Thank you.

rania1403 last decade
Yes. Please give her another dose.

Dr. Kadwa, hopefully this last dose will help. Could you pls tell me if the fluid in ears (bubbles) continue to persist after a few days wiil it require sulphur or something else? I'm asking so I can purchase any remedies needed, just in case.
Thank you once again.

rania1403 last decade
You should have sulphur 30, pulsatilla 200 and calc carb 200 ready with you.

kadwa last decade
She is much better. Not 100% but a very big improvement. The redness has gone and it looks like maybe only a little fluid is trapped. Every day there is an improvement.
Thank you so much for your help!

Hello Dr Kadwa! Just a little update: My daughter has been fine up until yesterday when her nose started running a lot. Discharge is clear but runs out of her nostrils. This is how the ear trouble started the other time and I was just wondering if it continues or gets worse should I give her something to avoid another ear infection? I checked her ear and it has a slight redness (like little veins) in certain areas. The eardrum is clear thankfully.

I have one more question.
My 9 year old son has a violent cough. He blows his nose and his cough sounds like there is mucous to spit up. He has been like this for over a month. I posted about this 2 years ago and you advised him to take Phosphorus. The symptoms were the same as then so I gave him phosphorus last week. It seemed as though there was a slight improvement for a day but he went back to how he was. I'm assuming it's allergy related too as this comes on at the end of winter/early spring. 2 years ago was in March as well!
Thanks for your help.

Hello Dr. Kadwa.
My daughter's symptoms cleared up so I didn't give her the arsenicum. A few weeks passed and she had the same symptoms mentioned above so I gave her the Arsenicum Album a few days ago. The symptoms changed and discharge suddenly became thick and yellowy-green. It sticks to her nostrils. She is a little fussier than usual but continues to have her appetite. I suspect she got the flu from a family member.
We were going out of town, so I couldn't wait for a reply as I wouldn't have access the following days to the internet. So, I used the Remedy Finder and Pulsatilla was the remedy that matched her symptoms. I gave her puls 30c thrice daily. We are on our 2nd day. Overall she seems fine, last I checked her ears are clear, but discharge is still yellowish and she has a new symptom : she has little red spots, like an allergy, on her lower chest and belly.
I hope I didn't give her a remedy I shouldn't have.
I'd appreciate your advice.

rania1403 last decade
Pulsatilla is a harmless remedy for children. If spots don't clear on it's own you may give her a single dose of Silicea 200.
