The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Hello... Doctors.. I have a query

Hi, I read about medicines but below them there are 3 categories which kind of confuse me, 1) Complementary 2) Antidoting and 3) Inimical.
my question is can complementary medicine be mixed together with the medicine listed, and what is antidoting medicine can that be mixed as well? Apart from that inimical (dictionary- harmful) in homeopathy puts me in a doubt especially when homeopathy are considered safe and without side effects.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Complementary, antidoting and inimical are the terms used in defining the relationship of Homeopathic remedies.

complementary- is one, which completes the action of the medicine administered before.
Say for example, the action of
Belladonna is completed by Calcarea in some cases.

Antidoting is one which antidotes the action of the said remedy.
e.g-Camphor is an antidote to many Homeopathic remedies.

Inimical- there are some inimical relationship between remedies. e.g- Rhustox and Apis mel are inimical.

Selecting and administering a remedy is not that easy.Without studying the basic principles of Homeopathy, people should not attempt for self-medication.
Always seek the help of qualified professionals to get proper treatment.

There are two kinds of practitioners of Homeopathy.

The Classical Homeopaths who have strong opposition to mixing of meds.

There are others who give Reckeweg Combination meds that are necessarily a mix of a number of meds.

Both have had successes to their credit. So ...very difficult to say who is a better practitioner.

If the two opposing sides get into a debate...it is a never ending type of debate.

Sometimes...it is the situation in which the patient is.... decides which line of thinking to follow.

There are homeopathic practitioners who make their own combinations too.

Dr Saravanan.. Thanks but your reply is still confusing.. I still can't understand the term Antidote and Inimical esp 'you said it is antidoting ' 'or inimical' which is understood by the very words but what do these terms actually stand for and what is their role in homeopathy? Any other doctors are welcome to share and post this query that is confusing many of us here.

Antidoting = nuetralizing or nullifying.
A remedy's action can be nullified by its antidote.Say for example, the action of Ledum Pal can be antidoted by camphor.
Role of antidoting:If a medicine produces (medicinal)aggravation in a patient, due to over dosing, an antidote can be used to nullify the aggravation.

Inimical= incompatible i.e., Cannot be used or mixed together.

Hope you understand now.
