Buzz or tingle on outside of head

Driving me nuts. I have a spot on the right side of my head 2 inches behind the ear 5 inches from the hair line (at the neck) to the spot (at the curve of the head from side to back)no raised spot or any other indicator that it is there Size: pencil eraser.

For no reason that I can figure it will start to tingle and get so strong that it is almost impossible to pay attention to anything else. No pain, and if you press on it the buzz will stop for a time but an ache remains, then it will start back up. Some times it feels like you need to 'dig' the spot out. Once I can get the tingle to stop the area is sore for several hours and will often start up again. Any ideas?
