Sameerji - For my son - Chronic UTI/Cystitis

Dear Sameerji ,

My son who is 8 years old is having the problem of Cystitis since July last year . When he has this infection blood comes out in Urine . We then give him a course of prescribed antibiotics but the problem resurfaces again .

It first happened in July last year , repeated in December 08 ( this time antibiotics continued for almost 2 months ) and has happened again yesterday .

Today we will get the report of his various tests .

Some General Characteristics about him .

1) No specific fear or anxiety ( Normal fear of dark as typical of children )

2) No tendency to catch cold ,sweats , cold extremities or skin infections . None

3) Extremely thin , when waking up in morning always complains of nausea /bitter taste in mouth . Goes to school without any breakfast .Most of times comes back even without taking school lunch . Hence most of times his first meal is the lunch at 2 pm once he has come back home after lunch .

Once starts eating , he invariably complains of stomach ache which is perhaps due to trapped gas .

This thing has been growing on for past 3 - 4 years .

4)Inspite of his practically very low diet , he is quite active seems to have good stamina which i find surprising .

5) Mentally alert , intelligent and a thinker .
Though he thinks deeply but somehow lacks the normal discipline for basic things like toothbrush , passing stools always has to be coaxed for these things , never does them on his own .

6) Selfwilled and most of the times stubborn , tends to be bossy , doesnt like to lose in games and sometimes gets very angry while playing .

7) Greedy for toys even though we buy him too often . Steals them from his friends and lands us into awkward situations. He covets a lot for other things that other kids have .

8)Lately i have noticed Whenever he watches Hindi films , tends to get very influenced if the character in the film is a businessman with a high life , his business and assets .He then wants to be like him .

9) Likes music .

10) Physically his height and weight are too less for his age and people often get surprised that he is 8 years old .

11) Sleeps well and gets cranky if he cannot sleep full enough . On School days he gets up angry and cross as his sleep is then not complete .

Which medicines have you tried for him and in what potencies ?

sameervermani last decade

As i will get his reports today , there will follow yet another round of antibiotics , dont know for how long , last time the antibiotics really left him really sick .

Hi Vikas,

What you are doing on this forum is a very self-less service, and I appreciate that. Hence , you will always get time from my side.

For your son, please give him Lycopodium 30, 3 doses, and report in 1 week.

sameervermani last decade
Thanks Sameerji . Though it is a small word but my thankfulness is boundless .

When u prescribe somehow the entire hoary lineage of homeopathy comes alive .

Today his ultrasound was conducted and other series of tests have been prescribed and a very strong course of antibiotics has also been prescribed .

In this scenario should i wait till the end of antibiotic course or proceed straightaway as otherwise healing reaction of the remedy would get suppressed .

To forgo antibiotic course would amount to incurring wrath of his mother which would turn out to very dangerous !!!.

Looking forward to your guidance .

Hi Vikas,

Please use your judgement, as to whether you want give it after the anti-biotics or not.

It all depends on how severe the acute episode is.

But, keep in mind Lycopodium will never give too much benefit when given again.

So, better to give it when you can give it time to act uninterrupted.

sameervermani last decade
Ok Sameerji .Thanks

I understood the point .

I will wait for the antibiotic course to run through which i fear may run into a month or even more this time .

The urologist is still carrying out tests ( though some broad spectrum antibiotics have already started ) .

Once this is over , i will give him Lycopodium and then seek your guidance further .

Thanks a lot for your very valuable advice and for sparing time from your highly squeezed up schedule .

Regards

Hi Vikas,

Let us watch for response to Lyc, we will know in 5 days.

It develops response very quickly in 30c.

Dear Sameerji ,

Please help in the case of my son below . When he gets up he has an extremely bitter taste in mouth . Please find the description below.

I had given him one dose of Lyco 30 about an year or so back ( one drop in 150 ml water , one teaspoon only and no repetitions ) and Lyco 200 about a month back .

1) Particulars- Bitter Taste in Mouth , on awaking . Sometimes nausea

Subsides in few hours . this prevents him from eating anything in morning . Goes to school without breakfast and sometimes the first meal is the Lunch at 2:00 PM at home.

1.1 ) No senstivity to touch anywhere , No head or foot sweats . No recurrent Colds or coughs .

1.2 ) Experiences Flatulence just after eating , though now it seems to be less

1.3) Had chronic cystitis ( Blood in urine on three occassions ) treated by long course of antibiotics . Antibiotics stopped about an year back .

Complains of pain at the end of urination

1.4) Had no major problems since birth , although appetite was always less . Had sunstroke once when 4 years old .

1.5) All milestones were ok ..
.

2) Generals

2.1) Mental - Intelligent , Thinker , Zest for life , Not Mild , Competitive dislikes losing in games , is affected that is cries if friends make fun of him .

2.2) On shy side but NOT mild , takes time to open up . Not egoistic
2.3) Not Violent but Not gentle also.
2.4) Desire for open air ( Though sems less now )

A lot of information above is what he 'doesn't' have.

I would like further information about what he does have.. anything else you can tell me ?

This pain during the end of urination, what is the location and sensation ?

So, the main issue at this time is this aversion to breakfast due to the bitter taste/nausea in the morning ?

sameervermani last decade
Yes Sameerji ,

The main issue is a marked Aversion to breakfast or the midday meal in school due to bad taste . Sometimes he says he cant even talk . I feel it is also affecting his teeth .

Regarding the pain at end of Urination i will talk to him and update .

Thanks for your response.

'I feel it is also affecting his teeth . '

Why do you say so ? Has he said anything about this ?

sameervermani last decade
' On waking , generally not in very good mood and takes 15-20 minutes to become ok . '

Describe his mood at this time in detail.

sameervermani last decade
He has developed some cavities , i had read on internet that bitter taste can be due to stomach acid entering in mouth and can affect teeth.

vikas_grower last decade
Right now it is vacation time so he gets up late .

But during regular school time when we try to wake him up he can be very angry , yells , can kick and curse also .

But once he gets up then in 15-20 minutes becomes ok and sober.

vikas_grower last decade
1)He needs to sleep at least 10- 11 hours . Once his sleep is adequate the crankiness on waking and bitter taste in mouth subside relatively quickly.

2)Another thing is that he doesnt greet people ( like doesnt say namste or good morning etc ) . He feels shy and self conscious to say so .

3) Regarding the pain at the end of urination , i questioned him . He could not describe it clearly but says these days he doesnt always experience it .

Dear Sameerji ,

The description below on Lycopodium sort of fits him .

Lycopodium is “intellectual with self-distrust” (Tyler), whereas Sulphur is intellectual with overt trust of self, and Calcarea suffers with the intellect; Lycopodium has a keen intellect (Sulphur) but weak muscular power (Calcarea). Although Lycopodium is quite capable, there is a fear of failure and a lack of confidence to the degree that this type will fret and worry over completing a task (such as a public speech), only to pull through it without a problem (but never gain the confidence for the next time!).

vikas_grower last decade
Have you ever given him Sulphur ?

sameervermani last decade
No. I have not given him Sulphur .

Regards

vikas_grower last decade
Please give a single dose of Sulphur 200c in water.

sameervermani last decade
ok .Thanks .

i will update after dosing.
