Does this sound like Lycopodium?

Hi all. Well I could use some help from the homeopaths on this board.. I have posted a few times already about my son with autism and a few different remedies that we have tried. I have been doing some research on Lycopodium Clavatum and I think it sounds very much like my son. Looking at the symptoms listed on this website for lycopodium it sounds like a really good match, but I just wanted to get a second opinion. Some of my son's symptoms that are matching lycopodium are digestive issues, loose stools, gassiness.. Also, he tends to wake at night sometimes and can be tired during the day. He is a fast eater and has excessive hunger. He can be very irritable, little things bother him.. He has alternating moods where he is happy one minute and upset and crying the next. He sometimes sleeps with his eyes not completely closed. He shakes his head for no reason. He sometimes twists his face and mouth..These are all things I found in the symptoms list.. I would appreciate any opinions on this. Thanks!

Jen

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.

Also I forgot to mention that my son is always poking and pulling at his eyes.. Im thinking this could mean he gets headaches or eye pains, though I have no way of knowing for sure..

These are indications for Lycopodium, but you should post the entire case (including the symptoms that match with Lycopodium), and only then a remedy can be suggested.

Lycopodium symptoms that he has: digestive issues, loose stools, gassiness.. Also, he tends to wake at night sometimes and can be tired during the day. He is a fast eater and has excessive hunger. By the way, I meant to add, he also hates his baths. He used to love them but for the past couple of months he he doesnt now. It is odd though because he still likes going in a pool and playing in the water...

All his problems are due to parasitic infestations. It is better to give sulpher or cina instead of lycopodium.

Zahid)2 last decade
We did try sulphur with no effect.. Havent heard of cina, is that an abbreviation?

Sameer, what is your opinion?

Thanks to both of you!

jen78fl last decade
Dear jen,

Sulphur comes through most strongly with these symptoms. What potency and how many doses were tried and at what gaps ?

Thanks for the info sameer. Is there something that stands out that makes lycopodium not a good match??

As for the sulfur, it was 30C. I believe I just gave 3 doses for 1 day, as our homeopath recommended.. Maybe that wasnt long enough or not strong enough? Also, would LM dosing be better to use with a chronic condition like autism? This is what I have heard of many parents of autistic children using with good results.

I appreciate all of your help!!

By the way, I also wanted to mention that with the sulfur I used the pellets dissolved in water..

Lycopodium does not cover some of the symptoms e.g.

craving salty foods
amelioration from pressure
craving for meat

In general, Lycopodium's confidence is a bit low and I do not see that to be the case here.

3 doses of 30c for 1 day were given for Sulphur and how long did you wait ? And, there was absolutely no response ?

sameervermani last decade
For the sulfur, we waited for weeks and saw nothing...

As for the symptoms you mentioned, my son does love salty foods and all kinds of meats. Hes always hungry for these things.. Also, he does seem to like pressure against his head or deep pressure applied to his body.. If that is what you mean... Let me know what you think of this.

Thanks again!

jen78fl last decade
Actually I might have misunderstood. I think you were saying that these symptoms of craving salty foods, meat, and pressure were NOT one of lycopodiums symptoms.. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

So, he has a strong desire for travel ?

Does he ever feel as if he is away from home and must get home?

Does he like change, and new experiences ?

Does he love to take chances and play tricks, even act like daredevil ?

sameervermani last decade
Well, I am not sure about travelling.. I know that he likes riding in the car, but he does sometimes have a hard time adjusting to being in a new place, though it has gotten better than it used to be. When he is away from home, I dont think he is wanting to get home, unless its an unfamiliar place to him. He sometimes has a hard time adjusting to change, but he does like some changes and new experiences when he has a chance to get used to them. When it comes to acting like a daredevil, he does sometimes. He is not very cautious about things and can end up hurting himself sometimes. It is hard for me to know exactly what he is thinking/feeling though because he is nonverbal, but this is just my opinion. I hope this helps... Thanks again

Does he show a wish to become independent and self-sufficient ?

Is he very difficult to distract from his desires ?

Is he hard working, even to the point of being compulsive ?

Does he sweat a lot, if so, which part of the body and when ?

sameervermani last decade
He does seem to want to become independent. If I try to do things for him he gets really upset and wants to try to do it himself. It is difficult to distract him from things that he wants, he is very stubborn. He does sweat, mainly when he is outside in the heat, and at night if it is warm, his head will become very sweaty and even leave sweat on his pillow... Thanks again

Dear jen,

I have picked the remedy, and please try to follow this exactly:

3 doses of Calcarea Carb 30c, equally spaced for 1 single day ONLY.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Calc 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. You can turn the bottle upside down a few times for the pellets to spread after dissolving.

1 teaspoon from here using a disposable spoon is 1 dose.

Let me know in 5 days after the doses.

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets (in your case the liquid) with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be AVOIDED during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Thanks sameer for all of your help with this. One other question I had for you.. I have heard that LM dosing is sometimes more effective for chronic conditions like autism.. Do you find this to be true?

jen78fl last decade
Dear jen,

It is better to start with 30c, if need be we will use LMs , but we should not start with that. LMs should only be given once you are 100% sure about the choice of similimum, which can only be learnt from the response.

Go ahead with the above dosage, and intimate me in 5 days.

Thanks sameer. Im just curious, why should LM dosing not be used to start with? If it happens to be the wrong remedy, will there be aggravations from LM dosing?

jen78fl last decade
LMs are extremely penetrating and must be prescribed with extreme caution, only after one has learnt about the response from the application of some centesimal potency.

thanks again sameer

I am reposting this on my original thread...

Hi Sameer. About a week ago, you suggested a remedy for my son with autism, Calc. carb. I decided to do the LM dosing. I just wanted to get your advice on this. I gave it to him this past Friday, he threw up that night and has just seemed to not be feeling very good all weekend and has also been very tired. Last night he slept alot more than he usually does too. Anyway, I am just wondering, could this be a good sign that the remedy is working, maybe a sign that the body is healing? I have seen some slight improvements, though nothing major. I know that with chronic conditions like autism it can take longer to see real improvements though. But how can you tell for sure if you have the right remedy?

Also, I diluted 5 drops in a 1/2 cup of water and gave him 1 tsp. Should I dilute with more water or give maybe a 1/2 tsp to not cause aggravations? Well I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks!

Jen

Also to answer your question, I didnt use pellets, I used LM liquid dosing and put 5 drops of the remedy in 1/2 cup of water, then gave 1 tsp of the water..
