ASD stimming behavior

I have a 3 1/2 year old son with ASD. He is verbal, intelligent, easily excitable and obsessive. Whenever he is playing with one of his obsessions; numbers, letters, clocks & coins/money, his whole body becomes VERY tense/constricted. He opens his mouth as if he is silently screaming & his whole body trembles as if paralyzed/stiff/electrically shocked while he violently flaps his wrists. He becomes so excited we have to remind him to breathe and relax. He constantly needs to be monitored as he enjoys this self-stimulatory behavior. Currently, he is preoccupied with numbers and money and it's all he wants to play with and talk about. Any advice? Thank you!

Hi,

Can you correlate the start of this to any life event ?

Tell me more about his fears/anxieties, any other odd mental symptoms.

Also mention about his food cravings/aversions and temperature/weather preferences.

Any other health problems since childhood ?

How emotional is he ?

How affectionate is he ?

Does he need a lot of sympathy/consolation ?

Hi,

Can you correlate the start of this to any life event?

A: He's been doing this behavior since he was an infant when excited. We really noticed it was a problem when he looked at anything spinning such as ceiling fans or wheels.

Tell me more about his fears/anxieties, any other odd mental symptoms.

A: He is very sensitive to light and has been since he's been an infant. He doesn't like it too bright or too dark. He has an amazing memory-- he memorized all the states in 2 days, has been reading since 16 months and is at a 7th grade reading level. Right now, he is trying to memorize the presidents-- he already knows all the ones on the coins. Now he is just learning all the Presidents not on coins. He doesn't like doing anything physical. It's as if his legs are not a part of his body. He has yet to ride a scooter or push anything with his legs. He is quite clumsy and although he has the motor skills-- does not like to feed himself and prefers to be spoon fed. He is very behind on self-help skills, but way ahead academically. He loves to swing, but can't push himself. Also, loves sensory input such as trampoline and deep hugs.

Also mention about his food cravings/aversions and temperature/weather preferences.

He loves cold water splashed on his body in the bath and never wants to wash with warm or hot water. Loves cold.

It is a challenge to get him to eat anything green. He loves sweet and bread. We are currently on the SCD diet so no sugar-- only honey. We make our bread from nut flour.

Any other health problems since childhood ?
Eczema related to food allergies. We are dealing with leaky gut issues. before he'd have up to 9 loose bowl movements a day. Now he is having only thee loose ones(not to get too graphic.)

How emotional is he ?
He can get quite emotional at times. He's a very sensitive child.

How affectionate is he ?

He is a VERY affectionate boy. He loves to snuggle and kiss and says 'I love you!'

Does he need a lot of sympathy/consolation ?

He needs lots of kisses and hugs when he has a boo-boo. And wants to snuggle all night.

Can you please describe his appearance? Is he thin/delicate in appearance ?

Does he like to drink cold water as well or is it just for bathing ? How is his thirst in general ?

Any other food cravings apart from bread and sweets ?

Anything which aggravates him in food or in general ?

Anything else you might want to tell, any habit, or any trait which differentiates him from others ?

He is very thin & delicate in appearance. He is somewhat pale although this week he is looking healthier than usual and the bags under his eyes are not as bad (maybe because we are on an anti-yeast medication?)

He would prefer to drink juice if we would let him. He will not drink anything warm like tea and will only drink room temperature or cold water. He does not specifically ask for cold water.

No other cravings I can think of other than bread and sweets.

He is an extremely sensitive boy and will easily cry when upset. He loves to twist his hair out of nervousness and walks on his toes 80% of the time.

Thank you for your help!

Oh, as far as aggravation. He does not want to eat any green foods (not sure if I mentioned this). Eating is a chore and often goes on for an hour plus (we are working on this in therapy).

His thirst is not that extreme... just normal I suppose. At night he likes to drink more.

He does tend to get aggravated when a preferred item is taken away such as a clock or coins. He could play with these items all day if we let him. He is very averse to most physical activities and prefers to draw or table play. When excited about something, he will usually run around and jump up and down along with the arm flapping. We have to have him sit while playing with preferred activities-- if he is not sitting, he is not focused and runs around, jumps, flaps looks back at the coins or whatever and gets into a vicious cycle.

Okay then, please give him 3 doses of Pulsatilla 30c equally spaced on a single day. The dosage procedure is below.

Dissolve 2 pellets of Pulsatilla 30c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. You can shake it gently after they have dissolved.

Take a capful from this bottle 3 times in one day, spaced by 2 hours. This is to be done for one day ONLY.

Let me know in 3 days after these 3 doses.

Restrictions:

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.
2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .
3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate, except where this would cause a drastic change in consumption
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.
7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin
