The ABC Homeopathy Forum

2yr old only 8kg

Our son born 33 weeks gestation. Good size at birth 2.1kg. Excessive vomiting as a baby finally confirmed as reflux at 12 months (with edoscopy and PH study). Dairy and soy free now for one year as suspected protein allergy so has hydrolized formula milk. Had omeprazole for 7 months with sucess (appitite increased dramatically, no more vomiting, slept through the night well and small weight gain). Now cant get him to take the medicines. Recently advised to reintroduce dairy resulting in change of mood (clingy and weepy) He has a poor appitite and early riser with night disturbances.

Our son has been on a profylactic dose of antibiotics (cifexime) for a year due to many cases of bronchilitis. This has helped him dramatically. Now he just needs the occasional inhaler (atrovent and budeside).

I dont know how long a mother can allow her son to remain at only 8kg without questioning medicine regime. We are desperate for help.

Our situation is complicated by us being expats based in Hanoi Vietnam and only being able to see specialist pediatric gaestroenteroligists half yearly.

When Oliver is dairy free he is a happy boy but tiny. When we give him dairy he is unhappy and tiny.

Fingers crossed we can try something new at your suggestion.

We assume he is having reflux because of his reduced appitite. He only occasionally vomits. He has a dry type cough that occasionally comes with it.

He has had a limited special diet for a year with no dairy and soy. These days his favourite foods include meat balls, peanut butter, rice pudding made with coconut milk, rice, fruit, potato discs cooked in stock, eggs and nuts. He is not particulaly fond of sweet foods.

Oliver is extreemly bright and enjoys looking at his books and doing puzzles. He is also extreemly active as a rule. He loves climbing and has a heigtened sence of balance he also loves riding his ladybird toy fast around the house. He enjoys telling you what he sees. He is generous with sharing with his older brother but will not be walked over. He is a fighter. He rarely complains. He has undergone many months of illness and tests and rarely makes a fuss. If he falls he rarely crys even when bleeding (bit through his lip once).

Because he is so bright and active we really notice when he is not himself.

He likes to be with the family but is also good at being with strangers though prefers to make the first move himself.

He likes to stay home but also likes to travel. Our life style means he is very used to travel.

He has lots of energy. Whilst his older brother would get tiered on a hike Oliver, despite his lack of calorie intake and size has boundless energy and stamina.

I hope this can help

to regulate his appetite and cure his reflux tendencies, please give him CALC PHOS 12C two doses everyday for a week or two.

meanwhile if you note any changes in his appetite and mentals, you can just give him one dose for a few days more.

you may also give him a homeopathic tonic, ALFALFA-Q some 10 drops in some 20 ml water twice a day 1 hour before the big meals.

this will also help in improving his appetite and proper assimilation. this is a fat producer as well and thus along with good appetite, his body weight also would improve.
