Murthy-bhai -- Do you feel homeopathy can help my toddler?

This post is about my toddler son. He is 18months old and refuses to eat. His weight is only 20lbs and his pediatrician is very worried but before I try any allopathy appetite enhancer, I would like to give homeopathy a shot. He is a happy baby mostly but has eczema which is bad now with homeopathy medicines. I am hoping it will get better soon.

Is there any meds that I can try for increasing his appetite. He needs to put on weight, or else his pediatrician will do tests and start some medication -- I do not have faith in allopathy.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
A single medicine that covers his eczema and loss of appetite has a better chance of working.

What are the medicines you tried so far?

Have they been tried one at a time, or did you use two or three medicines together?

I will come back in the evening.

Thank you for writing back. He has been mostly on sulphur -- one globule in 4oz of water, one spoon from this -- 200c or LM1 potency -- advised by a Homeopath but not a doctor. This medicine was administered once in 2 weeks or so.

His eczema is red and dark now.. it bleeds from scratching but is mostly dry in nature. its mostly behind his knees.

20 lbs for an 18 month old is slightly underweight. Around 24 lbs. is ideal. But, he can pick it up.

I don't know why your peadeatrician is so worried about it.

Are you infering that his eczema is bad after giving sulphur? How many doses did you give in all?

When I give sulphur, eczema gets better but after 6 days or so, it gets bad again -- my homeopath asks me to wait for some more days before i repeat the dose again.
I must have given him 7-8 doses so far -- sometimes the Sulphur is potenized by alchohol.
Baby had repeated ear-infections before I started homeopathy. My homeopath helped me immensely with his advise and he did not need anti-biotics and overcame repeated fever and ear infections. But in the process his eczema surfaced and he is being treated for this at this time.
The reason my pediatrician is concerned about his weight is because his weight is in the 2 percentile rank right now. Usually according to him they are in the 30-50 percentile group during this time. I feel concerned because he does not eat AT ALL. He can have a bottle of milk in the morning and not feel hungry for the rest of the day.

Your homeopath seems to be good.

If he is familiar with the sixth edition Organon methods, he may consider repeating the remedy in split water dose, once in a week.

Don't leave the homeopath who earned your confidence. He is your best bet, since he can see your son, and note many points which are difficult to tell on these forums.

Discuss all your apprehensions with him, and he will advice you suitably.

All the best.

Discuss about the weight problem too with him. He should be able to guide you.

Thank you Murthy-bhai. Unfortunately my homeopath cannot see my son either because I consult with him on the internet as well. But I will ask him about my concerns as advised by you.

I truly appreciate you taking your time to respond to my queries.

From what I've read about sulphur and from what I've observed with my daughter's treatment with Sulphur (for eczema, as you may recall), Sulphur is a slow-acting remedy. It took my daughter about 5 months to heal (and the eczema has resurfaced a few times since).

I would continue to be patient with the treatment.

And, again, from my experiences with my 3 kids, your son does not seem to be that underweight. My daughter (the one who had eczema) is 24 lbs and she's 2 1/2. Her doctor is not concerned, as she's healthy and at a normal height. I'd be more concerned with *what* your son eats, than how much (or his weight).

My daughter was the worst eater at age (18 months), she'd eat like maybe 5 foods. Just continue to offer foods - all the time, all different kinds of foods. He will start eating.

How is his height? How is his development??

I hope to read soon that your son's eczema is improving!
