single remedy to all ?

hi ppl

can we ppl use a prescription like 'arnica ' which was given 2 a patient for 'acne prob' on other patient also?

is it ok or should consider all together a new visit to a homeopath?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Every remedy should be based on a proper case taking. What may work for one more often than not will not work for another. Some 'armchair homoeopaths' though prefer to routinely recomend the same remedy for a particular condition, this is orthodox prescribing, not Homoeopathic, and Arnica btw is only an acute acting remedy, and therefore will not actually CURE the condition, mereley palliate it, perhaps even supress it and drive it deeper, so a more serious ailment takes it place.

can u explain what is that really

'acute acting remedy'

thx

In part, it means that it is short-lived and it does not act very deeply. So unlikely to cure much in the way of a chronic condition.

I don't agree with Arnica being an acute remedy only. I have heard and experienced people who have suffered from trauma or injury many years before and benefiting from Arnica at the 1M and 10M potency at a much later date.

Thankyou Daisy :)

And Tina R...As have I, but how does this change the fact it is only an acutely acting remedy?

Hi JCS2006

Can it be acute when it has cured a condition from many years ago?

Maybe in special circumstances it can do both? I have also learned that it is mainly an acute remedy but I will definitely look further into this with my professors.

Dear Tina, yes, it can.

To be more specific, this would be more a sub-acute disorder.

Moreover though, the term 'acute remedy' in Homoeopathy pertains to the level at which it is able to affect the constitution of the patient. We know that all chronic ailments except those caused by corporeal affections are caused by the chronic miasms, and as such they must be met by remedies which are anti-miasmatic. Arnica posseses no anti-miasmatic properties whatsoever, and can therefore not be termed a 'chronic remedy', only an acute one. It is semantics really, but this is how I personally distinguish between acute and chronic remedies.

I hope this clarifies.
