In order to make it easier to find words, searches go through a
thesaurus (you can disable this by unchecking the use thesaurus
option at the bottom of the screen.) We give you the chance to add
to the thesaurus by thinking of alternative words which mean the
same as the word we were unable to find.
The thesaurus is only for words which have a one to one correspondence
with words in the remedy finder.
For example:
a valid alternative for laziness might be idle,
or even lazy.
Unwilling to work would not be a valid alternative
for laziness as that is three words.
The thesaurus can not be used for conditions, only symptoms. For
example, if flu is not found, you can't type "runny nose +
headache + aching" as the simile. The user
entered conditions section will achieve something similar though.
The thesaurus can also be used for spelling errors. For those who
are interested, diarrhoea is the most misspelt word with over 50
alternative spellings!
The thesaurus is moderated on an almost daily basis to keep meanings
accurate.
