7 month old baby with reflux, help!

My name is Vania and by chance I found the abc homeopathy website, along with a few posts concerning natural remedies for infant reflux. I have just recently begun my education in the natural health field, and have been searching for someone, or something to help my 7 month old son. He has been on zantac for a few months now, and every time I try to wean him off this medication, I have nothing but disastrous results and end up giving him the medication again. I stopped his medication 4 days ago, and I am seeing the same problems as before.

Anyway, I just ordered the silica 6x tablets, and chamomilla 3x liquid off the website, but I have no idea about dosage information for either of these remedies, and am in the process of researching. I'm desperate, and as you can see am willing to try anything to get him better! I am also tired of conventional medication masking the problem, and in the long run, making him worse!

Any help, info, referrals, dosage info, etc is much appreciated!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
What is causing the reflux in the first place? Has that been properly diagnosed?

I don't believe he was properly diagnosed. I've been offered testing such as a GI probe and a barium swallow but I declined. He definately has classic symptoms of reflux, (spits up alot(even still at 7 months), pain during bottle feeding, arching back, fighting bottle, red face). First I was told milk allergy, I stopped breastfeeding and tried soy formula with no joy (bad move, I didn't realize at the time). Then I tried different brands with no joy. He's otherwise a happy baby and sleeps extremely well, he just has this discomfort during the bottle feeding.

Has anyone ever used silica or chamomilla for baby reflux, and if so, any comments???

Has anyone ever been through this, or know's anyone who has? I'm told he'll grow out of this....I hope so. I'm so happy to find this forum....I feel better already,

Thank you,

Vania

Hi

I would first suggest giving Nux Vom 200 ( 2 pills twice a day for a week). Along with it you may give Nat Phos 6x 1 pill thrice a day, (give it before a feed).

After a week, we can review the child's condition along with the presenting symptoms for a follow up remedy.

What potency for the Nux Vom??????

Hi
Nux Vom 200 means Nux Vom in 200c potency.I hope this clears your doubt.

Please treat your child properly.

It might be a case of Pyloric Stenosis or DUODENAL ATRESIA.

Usually babies never suffer from iatrogenic GERD.

Get endoscopy or Barium meal X RAY done.

Don't play with ur childs life.

drprodip,

I can't help but laugh at you! And where in my posts did you get the implication that my sons GERD was iatrogenic?

If I was a little nieve, I might consider your obsurd idea of a possible Pyloric Stenosis or Duodenal Atresia diagnosis. You shouldn't try to worry people without a full history. Did you know my son is 7 months old, gaining weight well, and sleeps 12 hours a night? Now you do. I on the other hand have done all my reasearch, and seen numerous medical professionals, and am unclear as to how you came about this suggestion???

How dare you accuse me of playing with my childs life, you don't know me! Keep your rude posts to yourself! I came here for help, not to be mocked or ridiculed. Maybe you'll think twice before you post your little nasty grams to someone else!!

For anyone else reading this, a Barium swallow is only 50% accurate, and the endoscopy is invasive, requiring sedation. These tests should be reserved for the most EXTREME cases, and never considered routine.

My son is happy and growing well at the moment, (he just has feeding discomfort), therefore I have no need for these tests.

Just an update on my sons reflux... I'm finding alot of parents dealing with this lately. I was told in the past that most babies outgrow reflux by 7 or 8 months. He'll be 8 months old in a week, and it looks like he's finally outgrown his reflux episodes. He has been off the zantac for about 4 weeks and is now a happy, healthy baby with no discomfort!!!
