Total thyroidectomy Tuesday

Hi,
I am having surgery Tues. to remove a large multi nodular goiter. It will be a total thyroidectomy so I will be started on synthetic thyroid hormone replacement immediately following surgery. I know Arnica';s healing powers and want to take it, most especially directly following the surgery.
Is there any reason for concern of using it in combination with the synthetic thyroid hormones?

Thanks so much.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I was in surgery for my prostate in 2002 and woke up with the usual IV's in my veins and also a syringe of Morphine which the nurse gaily instructed me in its use which she stated was designed to be patient activated according to overcome the pain.

I surprised the nursing staff and the surgeon in the hospital in Columbus OH when I requested them to remove the syringe from the IV line. This took some time as they refused at first and later consented after my signing a waiver.

I had already informed the surgeon that I was a Homeopath and that I would be using only homeopathic remedies to control the pain. I believe that he did not take me seriously as he was confident that I would scream for the morphine when the pain was unbearable.

You may like to know that I used Arnica 30 on the day before in 3 doses of 2 pellets and immediately after surgery I used 2 pellets every 2 hours for 2 days and extended the period per dose on subsequent days.

I must admit that I created a stir when I walked to my car on the 5th day.

I had succeeded in controlling the pain only with Arnica 30c to the total surprise of the surgeons and the nursing staff.

I do not think that you will have any problem with using Arnica in the manner that I had done as I too was under heavy antibiotic cover for 3 weeks. You may be interested to learn that my recovery was considered unusual as I was 71 years of age at that time and they were not used to having senior citizens walking about shortly after major surgery.

I have always advocated the use of Arnica 30c on a nightly basis to anyone who wishes to enjoy a good life and you can read the many articles that I have contributed to this forum by typing Arnica in the Search Forums window on the left of this page.

I wish you a safe and quick recovery after your surgery.

I failed to state that I used Arnica 30c on the day of my surgery too and this can be in the standard dosage of 3 doses per day till surgery. It was only after surgery that I switched to 2 pellets every 2 hours or thereabouts.

Is thyroidectomy the only option you have ?

Maybe Girilal or Pankaj can throw more light on your case

If I were you i would consider surgery as the last option after all the options have exhausted

The self proclaimed specialist on diseases pertaining to the Thyroid has posted something that can be considered positively but I presume that Charl would obviously have researched other avenues of treatment before deciding on radical surgery which I presume his surgeons recommended due to the growth of Mutiple Nodules on his Goiter.

It seems a pity that these nodules were not treated when they were first noticed as nodules on the goiter can be treated successfully if they are spotted early when the first signs of swelling in the throat is noticed.

I am not a self proclaimed homeopath( or a Joepath) or a medical expert like you are, who prescribes Arnica and Natrum Phos for almost all the ailments mankind suffers from, without any regard to age/sex/previous history of disease and treatment if any.

I dont prescribe medicines to any patients, I simply guide these patients, according to my limited knowledge of human illnesses and homeopathy, since i am studying homeopathy, and I consider Girilal, Pankaj, Walkin, Sajjad Akram, Sajid, John, to have a much better understanding about the above subject, except, you know who

Joe De Livera, who doesnt have the foggiest of what homeopathy is, and most of his claims about Arnica and Natrum Phos, are just that, EMPTY CLAIMS, nothing else

I would postpone surgery and see a well known homeopath.
