Ear Ache after flight

Had this for aprox 2 weeks and am desperate to find a cure!
This is long-

So here goes:
- Started when arrived in Thailand after flight. Itchy and a hot feeling like a flame was near my left ear. Also a sudden stabbing pain like someone was stabbing my ear with a knitting needle suddenly.
- I bought ear drops and it took away the itching and hotness, but the odd pang of pain (sometimes intense) and now a hearing problem. The hearing problem was like as if someone had held their hand over your ear. you can still hear ok but not as well. It also felt like there was something 'sitting' in my ear. like a piece of small paper was jammed in there.... like the weight of something sitting in my ear, like right inside as far as you could go before the canal turned down to the sinuses. I also want to keep yawing every now and then, to clear the area.
- Went to hospital (fear that i wouldnt be able to fly with my ear like this) and the doctor said he could see a cloudy fluid in the middle ear. Gave me a drug to open my sinuses and antibiotics (which i hated taking) in case it developed an infection.
- its dried up fine in 5 days and with my follow up, looks normal now (my middle ear) but i still get the pain every now and then.
- the pain happens only when i'm awake. only when up right (not lying down). I push the area above my ear hole up, and it gives it some release/ easers the pain a little.
- i instinctively want to keep yawing every now and then, like to clear the area (might be habit?)

Help, what would i need to get rid of this! I know i have always had problems with my sinuses... but nothing like this.

Its been suggested that kali bicromicum or Sulpha would be good?

your help is GREATLY appreciated

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
well it appears that pulsatilla would have been of use before antibiotics---symptomology ha schanged some --particularly non occurance while lying down..

how does the pain come on currently? how has this aspect changed as to before antibiotic treatment?

how often pain occur these days?when was last epsdoe?how long does pain last?

also need to consider if on other medications--in which these may modify characteristics of sumptomolgy

what meds currently using? what reasons?

Whats different now after taking the antibiotics is the itching and heat are gone. I now just get the occasional pain.

the pain is every day and about 2-3 times a day

It lasts about 3 or so seconds

The only other thing I am taking is Maxiphed for my sinuses.

Hope this helps!
many thanks,

I fly on plane frequently every week. About 3 weeks ago, I started to feel pressure in both of my ears. I yawned often, and the pressure would be slightly relieved if some post nasal dropping happened indicating there was connections to the nose.

Doctors said they saw redness in my nasal cavity and suspected chronic allergy. I had nasalscope, hearing test and inner ear pressure test done. All tested normal except the left ear's hearing audibility drops beyond 4000 Hertz.

A few days after the on set, I started to have tinnitus (ringing in my left ear like thousands of insects chirping at night). My ear pressure continues though not as bad as before after having taken Maxiphed, Aerius, Singulair. doctor also prescribed Methycobal which is vitamin B12 for my nerves.

My current problems are:

1. Occasion pressure in the ears.
2. Intolerance towards loud sound including music and PA system.
3. I would feel ear ache and head and chest discomfort while listening to phone calls using my left ear. Telephones sound louder to me now than before; the sound bangs on my left ear.
4. All day round, left ear ringing and particularly annoyingly louder at night. All the above drug prescriptions do not lend any help to this problem.

I need help to find out why and solutions for my above problems. If it is the eustachian tube that is narrowed or blocked, why my inner ear pressure is normal ? If normal, why I still feel high sound pressure and louder bang on the ears so much so that I feel uncomfortable and ear ache ? What causes the ringing problem and how to alleviate this ?

A similar issue has been discussed recently. Have a look.
