This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
There was an issue on Windows Edge, but that seems to be resolved.

It may have done that if you tried putting a quote into a post as then it goes into reply mode. That obviously needs to be clearer.

Is that what happened?

Hi Simone,

That's a strange one. What device and browser are you using? Please try editing again and let me know if the error persists.

You can now put quotes into edits without it making the edit a reply.

All the best,
Simon

Moderator,

Is it possible to change the display format of the posted threads in tabular format... if possible for better navigation....

Nikkie 6 years ago
It may be a matter of preference only. But older version was easier to understand. This format doesn't appeal to me. This is no TEXTING matter only.

One thing more: Is it possible to add a seach feature: enable seach of ONE word/ or a phrase in the posts? Sometimes it happens that we see something and later realse we could have helped but now cannot relate that with any post seen recently.

Nikkie, Jawahar,

Thank you for your feedback.

Do you mean the forum home page or after you've clicked on a specific thread? Or both?

The intention of the new format is that you can see at a glance which posts are from the OP (for the threads), which are your own, and which are from others.

There are less threads on a page now, but the old version was perhaps a little too crowded, IMHO.

Perhaps we can get the best of both. Specifically, what is it you liked about the old version?

On the search for a word in a reply rather than a title, that's done.

Thanks for your feedback,
Simon

Sir: a suggestion:one should be able to log out completely having clicked only once instead of keeping on logging out of every open page. Regards.

Moderator: In my last post I'd suggested that posts older than, say 1 month, be masked or removed. If a patient does not reply in a reasonable time to the prescriber then perhaps he does not need help anymore. Keeping all old posts unnecessarily clutters the place and many a time we, in our desire to help, forget to note that the last post was several years old. Pl consider.

One idea: On search thing you could confine it to say posts not older than one week.

Older version very user friendly.

Not receiving e-mails as was with older versions.

Thanks.

Old posts are valuable so please do not delete them. They may be made to appear with an appropriate alert that the last post was way back in time.

Hi Jawahar,
jawahar said Sir: a suggestion:one should be able to log out completely having clicked only once instead of keeping on logging out of every open page. Regards.
If you go to your profile (click username, top-right). There's a 'Log out of all devices' link which will accomplish what you want, and a little more besides. You're still going to have to go through and close each window in turn if you want privacy though.jawahar said Moderator: In my last post I'd suggested that posts older than, say 1 month, be masked or removed. SOme old posts are useless but others are valuable.jawahar said One idea: On search thing you could confine it to say posts not older than one week.
The search orders results by quality of match and then by date (as of just now). Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi Anuj,

Can you please tell me, very specifically, what you preferred in the old version? I'll look into the email issue.

Thats a good suggestion - I'll make the reply links greyer or something.

As a concept I agree that old posts may be helpful. But in actual practice on Forum most of us are self taught/ learners and no authorities . Even after 2-3-4 prescribers have tried helping on a same case, since no one gives any reasoning why they chose that particular medicine, and since we do not know whether or not (in most cases) the med helped the patient or the patient got cured the old posts hardly contain any useful information.Yes, when I said masking I meant hiding/ coloring/ flagging of old posts.

I've been working on the new and improved emailer. It's live in alpha version.

We'll see if we run into the problems we had in the past. If we end up getting black-listed for spam, we will of course remove the emailer again.

I hate tinkering with it (no really) because often something breaks in an untested combination. But tinkered, I have.

I have now greyed out the reply buttons on old posts. You can still click them, it's just to remind you that you may not want to. Also the 'post reply' button at the bottom of the screen should have a warning if the thread is old.

Arbitrarily, I've called 'old' anything over a month.

Any thoughts?

moderator 6 years ago
One month is too short a time to consider a post old---some ongoing cases could become old in that case. Six months is a reasonable time frame.

Personally, I do not find looking up at the date/time of the previous post a problem to ascertain if it's old or new. And now greyed 'Post Reply' with the older thread message is also going to help.

Earlier the date/month/year were clearly mentioned below every post. But now it's sort of become relative saying One month ago, decade ago for subsequent posts and date is mentioned with first post alone. The earlier system was accurate about the timeline with every post.

Alternatively an option to 'close thread' by the thread poster can be supplied but this will prevent further replies. Some online forums have this. But i haven't found old threads as a irritant or something. In some cases the communication has kept on despite the passage of time for example anal fistula thread, and some thread about weaning off effexor etc.

Wonderful to hear about email alert. If this becomes marked, would it be possible to make an alert like 'you have new message on these threads' on the forum dashboard/or the area where we view our recently subscribed threads?

maheeru seems NOT to have understood the issue. I agree with Moderator in respect of one month thing. It only means LAST post was older than one month. If patient does not respond for one month to prescriber's advice I fail to understand what is to be gained by a prescriber-old or new. If posts are to be really helpful in generating discussion or obtaining/ giving clarification then prescribers should well be prepared to give logic/ reasoning/ analysis for recommending a particular remedy. All is open-ended on the Forum presently.

jawahar 6 years ago
I agree that prescribers should be able to back up a prescription with reasoning when asked. But if people don't ask, maybe they're not interested.

maheeru, I've taken that suggestion on board and if you have subscribed threads that have been answered (ie. emails have been sent, and you haven't visited the pages) then you should see an envelope next to your username in the top-right corner of the screen.
