Acidity in Newborn
I have a 6 week old baby boy and he is having Acidity problem since birth. He is onli breastfed and his doctor asked me to try Zentac(the acidity reliving medicine) but I am not very comfortable with it and wanted to know, if I can give him some homeopathic medicine. He is spitting the split milk after feeding and sometimes whole milk. He cannot sleep properly because milk keeps coming back in his mouth and he gets uncomfortable and then needs be held in upright position.ka_kirti on 2006-02-12

Listen I can't help you with a homeopathic remedy, but you can do other things to treat this besides giving him the Zantac medicine.
Alot of babies get reflux because their bodies are still developing, especially if they were born early or premature. (Some people call the first three months of life, the 4th trimester).
Almost all of them grow out of it within a couple of months (unless they just eat too much or don't get burped).
In the meantime, I would suggest that you continue feeding him only breastmilk.
Burp him very very often. Even before he is finished nursing off of one breast. Sometimes babies need to burp 2 or 3 or more times during each feeding. Spitting up milk and saliva is normal, especially if they get to full. I would rather them be too full than still hungry.
After feeding, keep him in upright position for as long as possible.
For sleep, try and make a safe bed that is on an incline where he sleeps so he will not lie flat on their backs.
You can actually buy beds/sleep aids that help, but the least expensive way is the inclined mattress.

Is he is gaining proper weight?
If so, don't worry, he will probably be just fine in another 6 weeks.
Maybe someone else can give you a good homeopathic remedy.

Please give Chamomilla 6 (1 drops mixed in 10ml distilled water) 2 drops daily three doses. for a day or two . You may contine according to your requirement. I do not advise to give any alopathic medicine for this complcation
