Insomnia problems and wrong constitutional remedy

I had this feeling homeopathy would help me, and I have tried practically everything else, so I shelled out $600 for a highly recommended homeopath. She has been practicing for decades and written books and has lots of testimonials.

I described my symptoms to her: I'm a petite, thin woman who can't gain weight, can't fall asleep, feels cold all the time and wants heat and covering, hungry every few hours, continually thirsty, prone to depression and anxiety (panic attacks). There is a low level anxiety all the time about the future and whether I can handle things and survive. I love to travel and feel the need to make changes in my life but also can feel very scared to uproot my routine. Lately my allergies have been worse and worse - - I'm so congested and have to blow my nose often. I caught cold 5 times this winter which is a lot! I often get sinus headaches with throbbing pain over my right eye. My posture is bad and I feel like my back is weak or something, like it's an effort to hold myself erect. I don't like standing for long. My stomach is better than it has been in the past but still hurts sometimes, and I have to observe a very strict anti-inflammation diet (no diary, gluten, corn, eggs, etc.). When I get stressed out, I have diarrhea almost immediately.

I saw a naturopath last year who had me on antibiotics for SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and after that I had stomach pain for months. My sleep problems and stress got worse after the antibiotics.

The homeopath I talked to was absolutely convinced my remedy was Camphor. She had me take a 200c dose and then daily 6c for several weeks. I felt really horrible with that. I had new weird symptoms and felt an icy chilliness in my body and I just felt OFF. It was terrible. I told her when we had a follow-up visit and she agreed to re-take my case. She got more info from me and consulted with another homeopath, and decided again that Camphor was the right remedy for me. She had me take another 200c dose. I again felt crappy but a little less so.

That was 6 weeks ago. I'm definitely not healed by any measure. I feel the same way I did before I first saw her in the autumn, except maybe my insomnia is worse now? The one good thing I noticed is that I didn't have bad menstrual cramps when I got my period the week after the last 200c dose.

I've been studying homeopathy and have a few ideas. Silicea seems to be a very good match for me, given my physical and mental symptoms. I used homeopathic software which determined my remedy is Carc, and it does seem like I have a lot of issues that fit that nosode remedy. Instinctively I feel very drawn to Silicea, and I feel very much repelled from the Camphor. My body did not want to take it at all but I forced the feeling aside rationalizing that my homeopath is an expert and knows what she is doing.

I would really appreciate some advice. I don't have another $600 to spend on another homeopath. Does it seem like mine was wrong? I feel so confused because she insisted that she knew what was going on, but it really didn't feel good. I was once prescribed Arsenicum album 200c by a naturopath 5 years ago, and after that one dose I felt really fantastic for a few days. I felt like my body and mind were back in alignment and I didn't feel so crappy emotionally. My homeopath says that Ars. album is definitely not my remedy, and it doesn't fit me perfectly. For a remedy fit, does everything have to match, or can there be things that don't line up?

Thank you so much for any help you can provide, forum friends!!

I got sick when living in Canada 10 years ago - high fever for a week. After that I never had the same levels of energy anymore and have been dealing with chronic fatigue symptoms ever since.

16. Important Question.
Current and previous remedies/medicines you are taking or took in the past?
Last year I took 14 days of rifaximin antibiotics for my stomach. Currently each day I am taking desiccated thyroid (NatureThroid) 1 g, an SNRI called cymbalta for anxiety, depression, and muscle pain (20 mg), and trileptal for anxiety (75 mg). It is quite possible that the drugs are complicating my symptom picture considerably, but I can’t get off them right now when my anxiety is already so high.

17. Educational Qualifications of the patient : college degree and Masters degree in Library Science.
18. Nature of work, what do you do for living? I just moved from a library job to a web developer position at the same university department

19. Important Question.
Mind-behavior, anger, irritability, hurry, impatient…and so on.. How are you different from other persons, public speaking or not, you can describe all of the details about your behavior, love and affections.

I get irritable very easily in the past few years. I cannot stand to be around people chewing or tapping their spoons, etc. I am more impatient than I have ever been - - I hate being stuck in traffic and would rather walk to work than wait for the bus. Public speaking makes me anxious. I am a very empathetic person and feel deeply for the suffering of others. I want very much to help people. Before I got sick I worked on voter registration drives and volunteered at soup kitchens. Social justice is a big issue for me and is the lens through which I see the world. I also have a strong spiritual inclination, which ties in with my desire to help others. It is part of my spiritual path to serve people, animals, and the environment. Even though I am emotional, I think I come across as reserved. I can be chatty with friends or extremely quiet. I don’t cry that often and I try to make decisions based on intuition as well as reasoning. I am a weird mix of intellectual and emotional. I need the company of others although I can also want solitude. I love nature and try to spend as much free time as possible in the woods, in view of mountains or the sea. I like reading nonfiction, fiction, and poetry.

20. Color of the secretions/discharges e.g
Pus, urine, stool, sputum, Saliva etc.

Urine usually cloudy
Stool varies - this week it is brown-reddish and long.
I blow my nose often and the discharge is slightly yellow

Anybody there?

When is the period during the month approx. date?
Any monthly cycle issues? Regular, early, late, before problems, after problems,
pain, any other discharges?

Are you pregnant? If yes, please give pregnancy start date? Any current issues?

What remedies have been taken for the last 7 days?

nawazkhan 8 years ago
Period during the month is generally the second week of the month, i.e. March 7 this time around.

I used to have a lot of cramping pain during my menstrual cycle, but since taking the Camphor remedy that is gone.

No I am definitely not pregnant.

In the last 7 days, I took one dose of Silicea 200c.
