hyperpigmentation -buttocks & back of thighs

Can someone please suggest me some remedy for my problem.

Age:24
Sex- Female

About 2-3 years ago, i put on a lot of weight & developed stretch marks around my butt & buttocks. Also, at the same areas, plus the back of my thighs, became unusually dark (just dirty looking, no outline).

Initially i thought, it is due to the stretching of my skin due to rapid weight gain, or may be africano nigricans.

However now, its been more than a year, since i have lost all that extra weight, but the pigmentation still persists.

Some other relevant information about me:
- Constipated since childhood
- Usually put on weight on my abdomen, chest & arms.
- Legs go to sleep very easily
- Frequently suffer from 'leucorrhea' i.e. whites
- Office work during the day(i.e. spend the whole day in fron ot desk), & drink 10 cups of coffee everyday.
After work, usually go to excercise (past 1 year)
- Love all kind of spicy food
- Recently, started suffering from Bulimia

Hello,

I've notice you have not gotten any answer. Well I am not a doctor but is 24 and suffer from exactly what you do. This includes the sudden weight gain and lost. I myself suffer from Keratosis Polaris which make skin extremely dry and hair follicles visible due to the excessive keratin. My legs, arms, hands and feet fall asleep a lot. But there has been no doctor that has been able to tell me why this happens. Just by sitting, laying or in a position for a extended period of time they fall asleep but it goes away after I move. My stretch marks appeared also with my hyper pigmentation on my buttocks and upper thighs. It was recently confirmed by my dermatologist in Texas that I have Urticaria (chronic hives), along side the Keratosis Polaris (KP). This causes my legs to swell and turn red and extreme cases even spot red anytime I exercise, exposed to pollen, eat dairy, out in extreme sun, under stress, use scented detergents, use certain shampoos, hair products and the list goes on and on. Are you having any issues like this? KP nor chronic hives have been made doctors priorities because in most cases neither is life threatening. It is very hard to find the cause for chronic hives but the side affects are treatable with over the counter remedies like 'Clairton'. The hyperpigmentation which can possibly have been caused from KP can not be cured as of now. Stretch marks form when skin is stretch beyond its limits. If you have in fact dry skin then most likely you have less elasticity to counter act the weight gain thus forming stretch marks in response when weight is suddenly lost. (doctors answer to the 'stretch marks') There is no cure. I personally found using natural dry oils like olive oil and take cooler showers help. Also coco butter will not completely turn skin back to its rightful color but when used every day I found my skin has gotten two shades lighter where there is hyperpigmentation. Its sticky but well worth it. From my personal experiences my hyper pigmentation gets worse when I have excessive amounts of sugar. As far as my limbs falling asleep that seems to get worse when I eat any type of dairy....or vise versa:) Though I love dairy and lots of sugar and find my whole body falling asleep at times. I've been watching for diabetes because it runs in my family and I've notice my aunt and cousin with it has hyperpigmentation and libs also fall asleep. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes but recent blood work done on me has found that I had lots of high levels of things like protein, keratin, and etc. The doctor said that is normal in ethnic groups and most like contributed to genetics. That may be something else to watch for and maybe changing your diet adding more water less salt, sugar, and dairy can be the key. I really understand your struggle and I used to dread myself in a bikini because of it. My best advice is to love yourself regardless and don't be afraid to get into a bikini because hyperpigmentation does not have you, You have it. Good luck and hope this help.

I just bumped into the website again after 10 long years. Big thanks Lionna for writing back. I am glad to say that over the last 10 years I have cured myself of the problems of dark/ dirty pigmentation. It was acanthosis negrosus. Even though I was very skinny ( thanks to my strict excercise regime), I was showing symptoms of prediabetes (high blood sugar phase) as diabetes runs in my family. Whatever I eat causes immediate spike in blood sugar (pre diabetes symptom) causing acanthosis negroris. I had to switch to a unprocessed food /low glycemic index diet to get rid of the problem. That also cured my facial hair problem. Didn't require any medicines or doctor, just changed my diet and lifestyle and cured myself. if anyone else has been suffering from problems I faced, hopefully my experience will help them.

I got alot of strecth marks of my legs and the sides of my stomach. I would be so insecure during the summer time never wanting to wear shorts or swim suits. I spent so much money on products to get rid of them and Dermelastic is the only stretch mark serum I have ever found that helps at all. In a month or twice my purple stretch marks were almost completely invisible. This serum was a life saver for me and I will never buy anything other than this. Coco Butter has absolutly nothing on dermelastic.
