Potassium Phosphate Tissue Salts?

Hello.
I have had a ridiculous sweating problem over the years and have also developed tattered nerves and allot of anxiety. I was told by a friend that I could have sweated out important tissue salts which relate to this kind of thing.

I bought Potassium Phosphate (Kali Phos, Schuessler Tissue Salts) and have been taking those daily. One thing I have noticed from them is that they increase my anxiety levels. I'm assuming it's that as there's nothing else I'm doing different? Is it possible that these are the problem?

Thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You are developing side effects. This often happens when people use those medicines. Continuing to use them that way could make the side effect permanent.

They are not actual supplements. They are fully fledged medicines, and as such should only be prescribed when the proper indications are present.

The reason you are taking them is Allopathic - this means an assumed cause without any real connection to the true source of the problem. Allopathic use of a medicine is usually very risky.

You should stop them and seek advice from a qualified practitioner.

It seems you are right. But can you tell me if anxiety is a known side affect of using Potassium Phosphate?

I've done a horrendous amount of sweating over the years. An unusual amount actually. Excessively high cortisol levels have prompted me to sleep as much as possible and go off coffee and any other stimulants. The resulting sweating must have done some damage for sure. This is why I though Kali Phos deficiency was a source of my anxiety. I've only been taking them for two weeks but they seem to be causing the anxiety. Again,, Is this a known side affect of using P'Phos?

Yes it is. The remedy Kali-phos produces strong anxiety and fear symptoms (and therefore also cures them, according to the homoeopathic principle).

Just to be clear, the 'tissue salt' is not a replacement for any salt or mineral deficiency you might have. It is a medicine with a whole complex of signs and symptoms it both causes and cures. It's relationship with the potassium phosphate in your body is not the one you think it is ie. a simple replacement for the substance. Once it is processed, the medicine is no longer the same as the substance, but has become something different.

You must have the symptoms related to the medicine for it to help you, otherwise like any medicine it can produce side effects.

Thanks for replying. That's very interesting and useful to say the least.

Thanks very much for the help.

I can suggest a homoeopathic medicine instead if you want to answer one of my (very detailed) questionnaires?

Thanks again for the help but for now I'll skip the questionnaire but will consider it in the future.

Can you tell me a little more on the above as I've given this some thought.

If you do have a problem which requires Kali Phos and you take them, will you still suffer side affects?

It depends on how it is taken, and exactly what you are treating. Side effects usually occur because of overdosing, suppressing symptoms, or because of individual patient sensitivity. Tissue salts often produce side effects because of the way they are used - frequent dosing, and mixing together of medicines which can cause unpredictable interactions. They are also often used to treat specific local symptoms, which leaves the underlying cause untreated and this unresolved source of disease will find new outlets (and this produce new symptoms) which can look like side effects.
