Nail biting in child

hi there
my 8 years old girl bites her nails often. She used to be a thumb sucker and has stopped that and now bites her nails. She does it when she is playing sports, at school and sometimes when watching a movie. Thank-you in advance

1. How eventful was the pregnancy when her mother was carrying her?
Nothing eventful. I was induced due to pregnancy hypertension at the very end. I (mother) eat health and exercise, did have morning sickness bad so didn't eat as well as i could have.

2. What mental or physical trauma her mother had undergone while carrying her? no trauma, besides being induced and fast delivery.

3. Describe the nature of the child, her behavior and peculiar habits. Pretty easy going kid. Likes time alone mixed with time with friends. Quite competitive in sports.

4. Does she have any abnormal fears? No abnormal fears. Does have sensitivity to gluten, dairy and eggs and sometimes is embarrassed while eating lunch at school. Doesn't want others to say her food is gross.

5. Describe any abnormality in her thermal preferences and general symptoms like hunger, thirst, sweat, stool or urine etc. Eats quite a bit, but is very active and eats health (organic, gluten free, dairy free). Not as hungry in morning, hungry later in day and night. Drinks a lot when active a lot. Has had worms over the past year or so, still haven't completely gotten rid of them but cycles is less and less (i suspect she got them from biting her nails). Has dark circles, but get less when she stays away from eggs. Very good stools (sometimes strong odor) and urination is normal. No thermal preferences that i know of. She does sleep without pajamas and kicks the covers off!

Do you feel her thumb-sucking and nail-biting has anything to do with her state of mind...like nervousness or sense of insecurity?

If it is just a habit, not linked to her emotional state, homeopathy will not help her.

YES, i really do believe she bites her nails due to nervousness or insecurity. She doesn't do it much when at home.

Can you describe her nature, personality, general behavior and peculiarities in her thoughts and actions?
How is her thirst when she is not active? Would you say its high, normal or less?

What ailments does she suffer from generally?

What are her cravings in food items?

How is she affected by changes in weather?

How does she react to consolation?

How does she feel during a thunderstorm?

Does she have any abnormal fears?

Can you describe her nature, personality, general behavior and peculiarities in her thoughts and actions? She is a pretty easy child especially when alone. She is very focused (i.e. will build lego and color for hours). She can be easily distracted and over focused. Sometimes her teachers think she is distracted, not focused and not paying attention (when i think she is day dreaming or observing her surroundings)

How is her thirst when she is not active? Would you say its high, normal or less? normal to high. She drinks a lot of water when put in front of her.

What ailments does she suffer from generally? she has allergies (dark circles) Get colds every couple months

What are her cravings in food items? She likes salty and sweet. Will eat a whole package of pepperoni and lots and lots of fruit in one sitting.

How is she affected by changes in weather? It is hard to say as we live in a climate that doesn't have much change. She is very curious when it rains or the weather changes.

How does she react to consolation? She has trouble speaking to people she doesn't know well. Prefers to be around people she knows very well and will then accept hugs and kisses. If not, she seems to get embarrassed and doesn't look them in the eyes.

How does she feel during a thunderstorm? Curious

Does she have any abnormal fears? Not abnormal - just doesn't like to be center or attention or different/likes to blend in with others. A shaman once said that she has a Snowshoe Hare essence and he described it so well!

Her symptoms do not really point to a remedy for certain but you can first try PULSATILLA 200C one dose on a single day and note changes in her for the next 10 days.

She keeps her emotions inside and doesn't like to have much attention on her. She isn't really "girlie", quite a sporty tom boy. Not sure if I mentioned that. Should we still try Pulsatilla?

Well, as I said, there is no harm in trying out one dose of Pulsatilla 200C.

Now, based on the new information, remedies that could help her NATRUM MUR or LYCOPODIUM. Both of these remedies find use in addressing nervousness in new and unknown situations.
