Infant with reflux

I have a 6 month old(born 3 months premature) with diagnosed reflux. Although he does not always vomit, he is arching his back and refusing to eat and quite uncomfortable while eating. We have to distract him while he eats to get anything in him. Very gassy and can burp several times during a feed. Coughs often and has hiccups.

There is suspected thrush which is being treated with nystatin. He has been fed expressed breast milk for 5.5 months and didn't seem to do great with the breast milk. We have since put him on a formula that he is keeping down much better.

His temperment is very good. Quite a content child, always happy and smiling. This however changes when it's feeding time. Once you stop feeding him he goes back to his jovial self. Sleeps very well day and night.

We are currently taking ranitidine prescribed by pediatrician, but have seen a naturopath 6 weeks ago that prescribed nux vomica drops 2drops 2x/day for 10 days in the belly button. This worked to stop the vomiting but has not done anything for the discomfort. Any help is grately appreciated

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I should also mention that I have noticed that his cheeks have always been a little red, kind of like broken blood vessels or a little dry. As well, his left eye lid is always a blotchy red and gets worse when he eats or cries. He has sensitive skin. Has broken out in an all over body rash similar to a heat rash (it was November though). This went a way after I stopped using fabric softener in his close.

Even while in hospital for 2.5 months he had always had trouble tolerating feeds. This was breast milk as well. the most success that was had was when he was fed slowly over an hour. Not realistic for today.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have not found homeopathics in drop form before. Where do you suggest I get them?

Also, do I stop the drops if symptoms dissolve or should I continue for a period of time?

Again, thank you, you have given me hope.

I dont know which country you belong however these medicines are available from any homeopathic stores or from this web site they have their stores also. This may be in liquid form or tablet form.Since the child is 6 month old liquid remedy will be better.
When the symptomd disappear stop the remedy.

I am having trouble getting the aethusa cynapium in liquid form. We are in Canada and awaiting it's arrival from your store is too long for us to wait.

I have been in contact with a supplier who could give us pellet form at 30c strenght. She suggested we dissolve the pellets in water and administer the water to our son. Is this something that will work as an alternative?

Yes pellets are quite alright you can use them by dissolving them in water. It makes no difference at all.

I found the aethusa cynapium this morning and was able to give our son a total of 2 doses today. Let me tell you, it has been horrible. Within 5 minutes after each dose he was very uncomfortable and crying with discomfort. He refused to eat for most of the day and was not himself at all.

Is this to be expected? Should I stop the remedy or continue?

No, do not stop the remedy. It is not the remedy action. Please coninue.

ok, I don't want to sound too anxious here but this has been the worst 24 hours of dealing with this reflux and the only changes we have made have been giving him the remedy.

In the last 24 hours he has vomitted every feed. I am questioning continuing this rememdy or could there be something else to give. If I call his pediatrician he is going to give him another med........not what I'm looking for.

We had some brief success with Nux Vomica, should I resume that rememdy?

Yes if Nux gaves some relief.Contonue with this and latter on try again AETHUSA CYNAPIUM ,It is a good remedy for childrens.

ok, however the previous naturopath that gave the nux told us to administer 2 drops in the belly button, can I give the drops via his feed instead? I belive the strength was 10.

Thank you for your help
