Rishimba....Help For HyperActive Boy

Hi Rishimba,

I have filled out your form below regarding a 6 year old boy with tics, hyperactivity, behavior, and attention problems. Thank you SO much in advance for your help (like always) :-)

Main Suffering:

6 Year old boy, family history of Tourettes Syndrome, has been displaying nervous tics on and off since 18 months old. He is also very hyperactive and has a very hard time sitting still. Gets bored and frustrated easily, whines often out of boredom, has to be in constant motion and acting completely silly in order to have fun, cannot sit still long enough to focus, very emotionally immature, laughs at inappropriate times and at inappropriate situations, does not like to take direction from adults, has a rebellious personality, very sneaky, as soon as the adult looks away, he is sneaking away to do or say the thing he should not, is extremely demanding and bossy to parents and younger sibling, will not do what he is told until an adult gets angry and raises their voice or threatens punishment, laughs at people when they get angry with him, displays jealousy over younger sibling, enjoys instigating fights with younger sibling, is very quick thinking and witty, very articulate with speech and communication, likes to draw, is a very picky eater, loves dinosaurs, in social situations with other kids he is always the one being reprimanded for acting inappropriate and silly, is never satisfied, constant discontent, and he craves and begs for candy.

His physical stature is: extremely small (always the smallest in his class wherever he goes), pale complexion, tiny features., brown straight hair, blue eyes.

He has been seeing a classical homeopath now for a few years. She has tried some remedies that have seemed to have a positive impact, and then some that haven't had much of an impact. we have tried the following:

Apis 1M - Definitely showed an initial response, but then response wore off

Tarentula 1M - Showed a positive response for awhile, but that seemed to wear off too.

Tele Aranea (can't remember potency) - Only thing it did was make him very tired

Homeopathic Zoloft - Since mom was on zoloft during pregnancy with him, we tried this as a method to "clear" the zoloft in case it was blocking the remedies from working. We only tried this after none of the remedies tried seemed to stick

Cantharis 1M and 200C - The 1M didn't seem to do much. The first dose of 200C seemed to have a positive impact, but the second 200C did nothing

Pretty sure I have named them all. I may be missing one or two.

Physical Sufferings:

When he was a baby and toddler, he suffered from eczema. However, he has either outgrown it, or the homeopathic treatment he has been given has cured it. He also used to suffer from puffy, red eyes, and extremely itchy skin. His skin still does get itchy (especially in the winter), but his eyes don't look as red and puffy as they used to. He is allergic to cats, and when he is around a cat, his puffy eyes return. He also has a leathery, rough feel to the palms of his hands. Moles on body.

Mental Sufferings:

As described above, he literally cannot sit still. He is always flexing his muscles in his legs, buttox, hands, fingers, and arms. He also has a eyebrow furrowing tic where he raises and lowers his eyebrows all the time. He sometimes has an eye blinking tic, and head jerking tic. These tics, and his behaviors are exacerbated when he gets ill, gets tired, is around an allergen, and loses his baby teeth.

When Did It All Start:

The tics started around 18 months, the eczema started right after birth, was very fussy even as baby, and the behaviors progressed as he started walking and talking.

Which Time Of Day Are You At Your Worst?

He is at his very best at night right before bed. His behavior is the calmest (usually he is trying to be on his best behavior to avoid bedtime), his obstinacy, behaviors, and tics are constant throughout the day.

Things That Aggrevate:

Being told to follow some kind of instruction, any kind of organized activity, team sports, social anxiety, being hungry

Things That Ameliorate:

Sleep (he is a wonderful sleeper, always has been), when he gets what he wants (although even if he gets what he wants, he gets bored with it quickly and is no longer satisfied)

When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

He seems to do better when the weather is warm and not dry.

General Mental Set Up

See first paragraph

Do you like being consoled during tough times?

Yes

Sensative to external stimuli like smell, noise and light?

Mostly smell. He finds many smells gross, and he also finds many food textures gross.

Habits

Besides the nervous tics, he is constantly humming. It never ceases. Sometimes it is not even a tune he is humming, sometimes he is just humming to make vocal noise.

How do you feel about your friends and family?

He is very jealous of his younger brother. He and his father argue and bicker often, and he often expresses that he thinks his parents are mean when they reprimand him. He expresses love toward his mother most often.

Fears/Repeated Dreams

He does not usually have nightmares. His sleep is usually very peaceful. He is afraid of heights, dogs, new social situations, trying new foods

Food cravings/aversions

He craves anything sweet. He likes fruit, honey, chicken nuggets, popsicles, macaroni and cheese, and bread. He dislikes anything with a soft and smooth texture, vegetables, melted cheese, and just about anything that mom puts on the dinner table

Hunger and thirst

Low level of hunger. More thirsty than hungry.

Sweat

He used to get very sweaty on his head when he first fell asleep when he was younger, but that doesn't happen so much anymore. He is not a high sweater. Sweat is normal level.

Bowel Movement

On the looser side.

Posture of sleeping

He lies with his head propped up (looks very uncomfortable, but he seems to get a good night sleep), mouth open often when he sleeps, usually on one of his sides.

Medications

Just the homeopathy mentioned above. He did have one round of antibiotics when he was younger for a strep infection. (he had anal and throat strep)

Major diseases run in family

Tourettes Syndrome

Appearance

Like stated above, very very small, skinny, pale complexion, brown straight hair, blue eyes, super cute.

His surface miasm is definitely Tubercular. Once he is treated for his presenting symptoms, he will need an appropriate anti-syphilitic remedy as well.

For the present, give him AGARICUS MUSCARIUS 200C three doses, each dose 10 minutes apart on a single day.

Give the doses in empty stomach and clean mouth first thing in the morning and let him sleep for another one hour after giving the third dose.

One dose would be 3 drops in some 10 ml of water.

Keep notes and let me know the changes in him for the next 15 days. Come back here for the next dose after 15 days.

rishimba 9 years ago
Ok thank you. Is it a liquid I am getting? Also, I know once I wake him up to give him this remedy in the morning; he will not go back to sleep. Is there way to dose?

And what do you mean by he will need an anti syphilitic remedy after?

Also, I forgot to mention, at some point, he also tried MyGale 1M with no improvement.

Yes, get the liquid dose. Mix 3 drops of remedy in some 10 ml of water and let him sip it up.

You said his head size is small..so please answer the following questions:

- does he drool saliva when he sleeps with an open mouth?

- Does his behavior aggravate on a full moon night?

-Does he tend to wash his hands frequently?

I came up with Tarentula H as well initially. Since he has taken this remedy, he should try Agaricus M.

I feel his surface miasm is tubercular but his habit for instigating fights and arrogance leads me to believe he may be needing an anti-syphilitic remedy later as this miasm may also be present in him.

Nosodes will also be required if this remedy doesn't create a response.

Hi Rishimba,

I have not noticed that he drools when he sleeps with his mouth open, and I can't say for certainty he is worse with a full moon, though sometimes I will notice the moon is full during really bad behavior (no idea if it's related or not), and no, he does not wash his hands often. He doesn't like to wash his hands actually, always tried to get out of it.

Still same remedy?

Questions:

Will 3 doses of 200c so closely together cause any negative reactions? I have never heard of dosing in this way, is there a specific reason you wish to dose 3 times instead of once?

And what nosodes do you predict he may need in the future? I always thought nosodes where made from a specific illness.

Thanks for the clarification . :)

aprilm 9 years ago
Dosing 3 times will not cause any negative reaction. Its just to make sure it gets absorbed.

He may need Tuberculinum as inter-current remedy if Agaricus or Tarentula stops creating a response even in the highest of potencies.

The questions I asked were to confirm if he needed Syphilinum later. As most of your answers are in the negative, we have to wait for these symptoms to surface, if at all, after this Tubercular layer is taken away.

Rishimba, the lab I use to order does not carry a liquid dose of this remedy, they have LM potencies in liquid, but not 200c.

Should I jus get the pellets and mix them into water?

aprilm 9 years ago
Get pellets in that case. One dose would be 3 pellets dissolved in some 10 ml of water and sipped up in empty stomach.

rishimba 9 years ago
Okay thanks! They are actually smaller than pellets, they look more like granules.

aprilm 9 years ago
You can also place 3 to 4 granules under his tongue as ask him not to crush it or swallow.

Don't discard this remedy until you have tried a few times. Also, please source liquid dose from any other shop. In my experience, dilutions produce a better response.

Hi Rishimba,

I gave my son the 200C Agaricus Muscarius (3 times) like you prescribed at the beginning if the week. (Monday) I haven't seen any drastic changes yet, but he has seemed to calm down a bit. I'd say I've seen about 10% improvement this far.

Today he woke up with a stuffy nose, low grade fever (on and off), and a dry cough he says hurts in his throat when he coughs. Can he be treated acutely, or will that interfere with the constitutional treatment of Agaricus?

Thank you.

aprilm 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba,

Last night my son'a cough got worse so I have him a dose of Spongia 30C. ( his cough seemed to match that of Spongia), and then a few hours later, he woke up with a high fever and was a bit delerious so I give him a dose of Belladonna 30C.

This morning his fever has gone away (low grade if anything), but he is still coughing (cough sounding a bit more wet), and he is still has a stuffy nose....mucous is a bit more wet and loose in the nose than yesterday.

I hope I didn't completely negate the action of the Agaricus.

He is having more body tics since he has been sick.

What would you advise now? Continue with the acute remedies and repeat the Agaricus when he's better?

Thank you!
April

aprilm 9 years ago
Continue homeopathic treatment for his acute symptoms. Don't give AGARICUS during this period.

Once he is fully fit, give him one or two doses of AGARICUS 200C on a single day.

rishimba 9 years ago
Ok. Thank you. You don't think he will start proving the Agaricus do you? Since he has already had 3 doses a week ago?

aprilm 9 years ago
Give Agaricus only when you see his mental symptoms relapsing.

I don't think 200C will hold for long.In any case, 200C may be given a few times once in 10 to 15 days even if you see a plateau. To break this plateau, will may have to go to the next higher potency.

rishimba 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba, can you advise for an acute remedy? He got sick almost a week ago, and I have been treating him, but today I found out he has a double ear infection and lots of fluid build up behind his right ear.

He is still coughing. Wet and productive. His mentals are actually good at the moment. He did throw up yesterday and has been having sick tummy.

His tics aren't too bad and he's been rather pleasant. Hardly any discharge from nose.

Thanks!

aprilm 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba,
I have not given another dose of the Agaricus yet since the illness and acute dosing with various remedies.

He is displaying behavioral symptoms, especially obstinance and starting fights with his brother. He is also displaying some tics, not as bad as before the first dose of Agaricus, but they are there.

Would you still advise dosing him again with the Agaricus 200c?

Thank you.

aprilm 9 years ago
Yes, you can give one dose of 200C again on a single day morning.
Let me know his response after a week.

rishimba 9 years ago
Ok thank you. :)

aprilm 9 years ago
Hi Rishimba,

So I gave another dose of Agaricus 200C on March 1st, and I wanted to report on what's going on.

I'm not seeing much progress in his level of hyperactivity. He is still extremely hyper and disruptive.

Today in church, his Sunday school teacher pulled me aside and told me she is having problems with him being disruptive to the class. He is loud, is obsessed with saying words he shouldn't say, like " butts, poop, boobies, etc". He will say these words then start laughing hysterically.

He won't sit still or be silent for even a second, and he gets everyone around him wound up top. He is like this at home too with his little brother. He just keeps saying inappropriate things then laughs as loud as he can.

This hysterical laughter literally goes on all day long. He laughs at inappropriate times and at inappropriate things. He is very insensitive to other people and he admits that he doesn't care what his teachers think.

He has no fear of authority whatsoever. He talks regularly that he hates police men, teachers, anyone who holds any authority.

He is still regularly picking fights with his little brother daily. If I walk away for even a second, he is antagonizing a fight.

He also fights me on everything I ask him to do. Whether it is homework, cleaning his bedroom, eating dinner, no matter what it is, he will throw himself on the ground and writhe around throwing a Temper tantrum. He threw an all out temper tantrum at the store the other day when I told him "no" he couldn't buy a toy he wanted. It as so very embarrassing.

He is extremely uncooperative in every way. He even refuses to play games at school because he doesn't like the games. Basically everything you ask of him, you should expect an argument.

The tics are not too bad at the moment. The brow furrowing has subsided. It has been replaced with a less noticeable head tic though.

Another extremely troubling symptom he has is constant, nonstop vocal sound, usually in the form of humming. He hums and makes vocal noises all day long. It is a really big source of irritation for the whole family. It's relentless.

He is also very sneaky. If I turn my back or walk away, I can't trust that he won't inmediately try to do something he's not allowed to do.

Physically, he has still got dry skin. Every once in awhile he will scratch so hard his skin bleeds. He's also got a blood stain on the bottom of his left foot that he's had for a few months now. I think he might have stepped on something. It's taking a really long time to heal up though. It looks like it's actually spread out and gotten bigger.

He also has a hard time saying his "r"s. He may need some speech therapy soon if it doesn't correct itself.

He still craves sweets a lot and has trouble with mushy textured foods.

I'm at a total loss here in how to get him to settle down and not be so wild all the time. He is alienating people because of his behavior.

He is also very disrespectful to people. Especially those in authority.

This behavior is causing a lot of problems in our home and in his school settings.

He has also been climbing into my bed at night. No bad dreams, he just wants "to be near me" he says.

What would you recommend from here?

aprilm 9 years ago
Please give him TWO doses of HYOSCYAMUS NIGER 200C on a single day about half an hour apart. Wait and watch for a week and let me know the changes.

This remedy is highly recommended for conditions you have described.

You can repeat whenever his mentals flare up again.

rishimba 9 years ago
Fyi, I am giving the Hyosc 200 C today. Just for that your records.

aprilm 9 years ago
So it's been about 20 days since I gave the hyosc 200C. I haven't seen too many positive changes. The only changes that I have seen have been a few skin break outs (old eczema symptoms coming back?) and also a new symptom that came and only lasted for 2 days is he reported it burned to pee.

As far as behavior, we still have the same argumentative, defiant, jealous of his brother, constantly instigating fights, disruptive, peculiar behaviors. He is still subtly ticcing with his head too.

So, i'm not sure what's happening.

Last night, he got sick with a bronchitis like cough, fever, and stuffy nose, so I have been treating him acutely.

I have given the following so far:

1) Oscillicosonum (1 dose at onset of illness)

2) Bryonia 30c (2 doses) because he said it hurt in his chest to cough

3) Mercurious Viv (1 dose (30c) because he was having an excessive salivation problem last night while sleeping.

I don't know if any of those were the "right" remedies, but he ended spiking a fever throughout the night that broke by morning. He is up walking and running around, so he is not lethargic, but he still has a wet cough and runny nose.

After this acute episode, how should we proceed constitutionally?

Thanks Rishimba!

OK Noted.

Let him get well of cold and cough. Later, we will see what symptoms have reduced and what have not. Based on your feedback, we will either repeat Hyos or move on to another remedy.

Ok, thank you Rishimba! I will update when he recovers fully.
