Convergent Strabismus in 2 year old

My daughter was born with convergent strabismus...both eyes about equal turned in. Seemed to lessen for 2 months betwen 2 and 4 months(when Mom was on Calc Carb 1m) and then retuned after mom stopped taking Calc Carb...giving daughter Calc carb up to 10m doesn't seem to help. Happy girl, bites finger nails and toe nails, likes to chew on anything. Has responded to pulsatlla and silica in acute situations...please help...thank you

1. Age,sex, weight, body and face appearance, country.
ANS. Emma---2 years, 9 months, female , weight/height as measured at doctor’s office falls in 50th percentile, small face and head, narrow/not round, eyes--deep set, brown, very long eyelashes,, skin--netted fine red veins on cheeks (since birth), skin tans easily, some goose bumps on arms and legs…country….G erman/Norwegian heritage, lives in US

2. Main complaints and other associated troubles.
a)Where is the trouble; The exact locality of the complaint like hands, legs etc; duration of trouble.
ANS. Congenital convergent strabismus, although from 2-4 months, the eyes straightened out (she nursed on mom at this time and mom was taking Calc Carb 1M in an attempt to increase milk flow). She uses each eye alternating, they seem straighter in morning, immediately after awakening. And she is a happy morning person. When she looks to the distance she uses one or the other of the eyes and the opposite eye goes in and up. She can bring her eyes to there normal outward range when looking sideways and when she looks sideways they look more aligned then when she’s looking forward.
2.
b)What exactly do child feels, Sensation as pain, how pain feels or burn etc, according to you.
ANS. I don’t know
3.
c)What are the factors that causes this trouble according to you.
ANS. There may be a hereditary factor…Emma’s uncle on her Dad’s side was born with convergent strabismus(more severe than Emma’s), The uncle was born with twin sister who did not have strabismus. Before this there seems to be no history of this condition in this family. The grandmother of Emma’s Dad and this Uncle is reported to have had some mental difficulties explained as trouble coping and tendency to yell she was given electro-shock therapy and is reported to have become more calm….she spoke in the third person about herself, thereafter. Grandfather on Dad’s side (now 77) has many eye problems, High eyeball pressure and torn retina. This grandpa was also kicked in the head (mouth and jaw area) as a 3 year old, by a horse. There may be a factor that may have affected her in utero….her mom and dad got in a loud verbal argument with much bad feelings that may have frightened her around 7 months gestation.

4.
d)Condition under which the complaint is reduced or child feels better like, cold or hot application, cold or hot weather, position as standing, walking, rest etc.
ANS. Only seems slightly improved immediately after awakening

5.
e)Condition under which the complaint is increased like, cold or hot application, cold or hot weather, position as standing, walking, rest etc.
ANS. When she was 3 months she lost the outward range on her left eye…one dose of syphilinum 30C/split dose, immediately resolved this. This occurred again in 2 months and again 30C Syphilinum worked and I continued the dosing up to 200 C with no additional improvement.
f)Any other complaint any where in the body.
ANS. Within the first 7 months of her life when she cried, she would throw her head back and brace (stiffen her back). She would fall asleep with her head bent back/neck bent both when she was on her side or on her back. Within in the first 4 months of her birth she had 3 episodes of whole body trembles lasting only 2 seconds at most and usually when she was falling asleep. Top fontanelle did not close until 7-8 months. Got her teeth normally starting around 4 months. Scally cradle cap/ no pus or serum.

6.
g)Onset time of troubles in detail, i.e which came first, after that what problem and so on.
ANS. As related previously

7.
h)Treatment method adopted and its result.
ANS. While Emma was an infant her colds would go directly to eyes with watering and agglutinated eyelids…Pulsatilla always cured. Have treated her with Medhorinum up to 200C, no effect on eyes, but led to a green/yellow nose expectoration, Pulsatilla up to 10M, again no effect on eyes, some negative mentals once at 10m so stopped, Calc Carc up to 10M no improvement in eyes, no negatives effects and Syphilinum up to 200c ,Silica 200C was used recently because some minor scratched continued to fester and silica helped, most recently tried DPT 30 C and DPT200 (stopped at 200 because seemed tired) , but DPT has helped mom improve from her never well since DPT vaccination before her older brother was born.

8. Also tried short courses of Cicuta 30C/200C, Alumina30C/200C, cyclamen 30c/200c, all split doses and no eye improvement…Hyocyamus seemed to work at 30C with eye improvement but not at 200C…so stopped

3. History of diseases in family.
ANS. Emma’s dad had facial exzema at 1years old, when treated with cortisone cream seemed to evolve into asthma which he still gets when he has colds/ or exposed to corn dust…improved eating(according to Weston A Price Principles) since he’s been married has negated the need for inhalers and shots. Emma’s mom has had all childhood shots resulting in warts on chin as 2nd grader and subsequently has received many vaccines due to carreer in military. The last vaccine of DPT in 2009 caused nasal problems only now being resolved with DPT nosode. Lymes Disease for mom caused fatigue/sore body joints all seems to be cleared up with Med 30c/200c, Sepia 1m, Causticum LM2. When pregnant with Emma, had gestational diabetes, high cholesterol, (oh, and thyroid has always been low performing)….spent most of pregnancy on Sepia and Pulsatilla and subsequently blood sugar normal, thyroid numbers normal, and cholesterol levels dropping. Emma’s grandma on mom’s side is sick with Multiple Sclerosis. Emma’s grandpa on mom’s side has had hip and knee replacements.

4. Personal History.
a)About childhood.
ANS. Mom is stay at home mom. In daycare setting once a month for 3 hours (first time 4 months ago)
b)Academic performance.
ANS.
c)Any major incidents in life and the effect of it on life.
ANS.
d)How is child satisfied with friends, family members, etc.
ANS Very happy child in home. Gets along with older brother. Didn’t warm up to dad until 3months old or so.

6. How is child's Appetite and Thirst.
ANS. Appetite good…great when really growing…thirst , good. Very interested in sweet snacks, much, much more than older brother. Will ask mom for sweets all day.

7. Likes and Dislikes.
a)Alcohol Bread Butter Bitter Salt Sweet Sour Fats Milk Mud Chalk Egg Spicy food Meat Fish Fruits Fried Food
Warm food-drink Cold food-drink Ice Ice cream Chocolates Tea Coffee.
ANS. Have seen her eat butter several times, loves liver, sweets. Last two months has requested ice to chew on almost every day. No dislikes.
9.
b)Anything else about like and dislike of any activity with child or surrounding.
ANS. Loves to sing and dance. Mom tries to get older brother to do these things which he begrudgingly complies, while Emma runs to get the instrument box and asks for music CDs to be put in

8. Bowel movements.
a)Nature of stool, frequency, satisfactory or not.
ANS. Normal/daily
b)Any discomforts associated with stool.
ANS. Won’t poop in public, goes to closet…very resistant/refuses to poop on pot…will pee on pot

9. Urine.
a)Frequency, nature, volume.
ANS. Normal
10.
b)Any discomfort before, during or after urination/odour
ANS. No

12. Sleep.
a)The quality of sleep, the quietness or restlessness of sleep,
position of sleep, times of waking and reasons for waking,
need for cover over various parts of the body,
whether the window must be open or closed etc.
common dreams, peculiar sounds or gestures during sleep, etc.
ANS. Sleep—has yet to sleep through the night, generally wakes up from 1am to 3 am , nurses and falls back to sleep. Will not sleep with covers on. In the past, would sometimes sleep in knee to chest position with face down, have not seen in in the last 5 months. While asleep—is quiet and looks restful.
13. Sweat
a)How much, what parts, staining, Odour.
ANS. Have not noticed sweat, will take socks off during the day, presumably to cool off feet….but feet are not sweaty

14. Weather
a)Tolerance to heat and cold, dryness, humidity, weather changes, sun,
foggy weather, wind drafts, closed rooms, etc.
ANS.

15. Mental Status
a) Were there any complications at birth?
ANS.
b)At what age did the child: crawl, walk, talk, teethe, toilet train ?
ANS. Seemed to have the ability to walk by 1 year old (this is when her brother walked) and would laugh and run from mom to dad, etc but would not walk on her own until 14 months, very slow to talk (in my opinion and compared to brother, however brother was speaking in full sentences at 2), whereas Emma still cannot pronounce s’s and p’s, th’s, therefore she’s hard to understand. Somewhat stammering, hesitating speech when she tries to tell a story. Is eager to tell but the words don’t flow. Also wants to tell…mom left her on the swing alone in order to mow the grass….about 10 min max…this really upset her and she cried inconsolably for about 3 min…on way home through the barn, Emma took the opportunity to tell what happened to her to her grandpa…very emotional delivery, although for the most part you couldn’t understand what she was saying.
11.
c)How did the child react to the following situations: vaccinations, birth of younger sibling, starting day care, starting school, spending night with a friend, going away to camp, traveling with the family
ANS. When Emma is in a daycare situation she is more reserved, unless brother is present. When first left in a new daycare situation 4 months ago, she was on the verge of tears while there. But kept on trying to color, does not interact with other kids but will play on her own and will answer when spoken to. When mom brings older brother to gym to practice basketball…emma holds onto mom’s hand/pants, the whole time. Not like this at home at all….does not require extra attention at home. When Emma and brother went to new play area filled with children recently, she clung to her father while brother played…eventually and only because her brother was there (in my opinion0 she began to chase around with her brother. She gives the impression of timidity (although she will look people, even strangers in the eye) with people she does not know, in places she’s not familiar with. However, at home she’s playfull and even a card, laughing and trying to make people laugh.
12.
13. d)Did the child have an especially severe childhood illness--measles, mumps, croup, etc.?
ANS. Has never had the Belladona type fevers that her brother has had. Had a fever that responded to Byronia…101 degree temp/pain in or over left eye, she would rub it. Bryonia cured. Had a bad cold/cough 1 month ago that with the help of Spongia and Silicea , she overcame.
e)When ill or upset does the child want to cling or be left alone, or something else altogether?
ANS. Mostly pretty tough…bears pain stoicly and does not cling
f)How would you describe the child's behavior when playing with other children?
ANS. Plays alongside them. Won’t initiate interaction, but will respond.
g)What feedback do you get from the child's teachers?
ANS. N/A
h)How does your child treat animals?
ANS. Loves animals, wants the cats to sit on her lap, so she can hold them. Plays with her baby dolls, always holding and wrapping them up.
i)What fears does your child have?
ANS. Not afraid of insects (like her brother)…very daring, wants to swing higher, go faster etc. Not afraid of dark, but does not want to sleep alone.
j)How affectionate is the child when not sick?
ANS. Loves hugs, being held.
k)How sympathetic is the child (concerned with the suffering of others)?
ANS. Very concerned with the suffering of others. Will intervene if mom disciplines brother and makes him cry. On the other hand will laugh or make act goofy of mom asks her to do something. Will eventually comply, but not immediatly
l)How is the child affected by games, studying, music and dancing?
ANS. Emma will dance to music. Will sing when family sings. Has good concentration when it comes to doing crafts.
m)Is the child fastidious? Please explain.
ANS.
n)Is the child sensitive to criticism? Please explain.
ANS. Yes…when younger( 1.5 to 2 ) would immediately cry if you raised your voice to her, (if you were concerned with her safety, for instance). Now her face will drop and she’ll almost cry, and she does take things to heart, she will pout for a while before she moves on.
o)Describe the child's eating habits, for example: picks at his food, or eats voraciously, or is full after 2 bites, or can't sit still to eat, or must be fed or he won't calm down, and so on.
ANS. It alternates between periods where she eats voraciously to periods where she’ll be done after a handful of bites. Always room for sweets afterwards though and actively seeks them out…none are available to her on her own…must ask mom to get them….so I’ve been telling her ‘no’ probably 15 times a day for the past 4 months
14. p)Are there any digestive complaints--waking with stomach pains, or a lot of gas and bloating or burping, or constipation, etc.?
ANS. NOne
q)How cooperative is the child?
ANS. She’s like the brother(Jesus’s parable) who initially says no, but eventually does what the father wants
r)What does the child really love to do?
ANS. Hold the cats, play with her dolls…play catch with balls, swing, get books read to her. Sing/music
