Ear fullness and tinnitus | From davmandy [Log on to view profile] | on 2003-05-11 |

Hi
I've had a feeling of fullness or blockage in my left ear for nearly 6 months. The ENT doctor is baffled. 1 month ago, a really annoying high-pitched ringing started in both, maybe due to all of the drugs or tests. Tried pulsatilla, graphites and sulphur - all nothing. Any suggestions for making the ringing stop?

(This message is posted here by way of an exchange of views and does not costitute a medical prescription) -------------------- Two drops of MULLIEN OIL in both ears morning and evening will begin to do some good while you take expert advice.....its a homeopathic medicine available at homeopathic stores....useful for ear related problems.
Sometimes its results can surpass expectation!!

I know this post was years ago, but I have the same issue - fullness in both ears, more so in one. Started about 4 weeks ago. I've been to 2 ENTs. The first gave me decongestants and when it hadn't improved in two weeks, put me on 6 days of steroids - still no effect. I then went back in and saw the ENT's colleague (original ENT was out) and he decided I might have jaw tension and told me to put a heading pad on my jaw and take advil. (I told him I do not, to my knowledge clench or grind my teeth, etc.) I've been doing this for a week with no effect. I'm starting to lose faith here. I'm in a musical in 2 weeks and can't sing because I can't hear! Anyone have advice? Many thanks.

breathe in steam to clear your nasal passages (take care not to breathe it in too hot!!). also try and avoid dairy products, coffee and tea and too much sugar for 10 days to see if this helps.

The suggestion from Erika is a good one, but, perhaps it would be nicer if one would inhale the steam through the mouth and exhale through the nose. That way you would avoid any chance of burning the skin, especially of the nose, which is very sensitive, as we all know. I was advised the same treatment by an ENT, and it really worked well in my case, to clear my nose / throat congestions. Incidentally, I also belong to the "Tinnitus Club" and hence my interest in this wonderful forum.

Let me also add that the treatment with steam, as suggested by Erika and my own ENT doctor, is but a supplimentary aid, and not a treatment for tinnitus by itself. But, it did help my congestion problems a lot.

I had a cody tac procedure done years ago for Menieres disease...left ear. I rarely have any dizzy/room spinning events now, however my left ear now has a stuffed/fullness. If I insert my finger and pop it I can hear for a very short time then it goes back to being full. I have tinnitus for years also. Has anyone tried zinc or sulphur. If so did/does it help and what mg do you take? |
