Shih Tzu skin issues

I have an 8 year old Shih Tzu with major skin issues. He has lost most all of his hair. I am thinking it must be a yeast infection. At first I thought it was mange. Anyway, I NEED HELP! He is so miserable, he is real cranky today & he has never snapped at us before. He has skin sores and has a strong odor. He is usually very happy. He is cold most of the time & winter is just around the corner.

Patient ID: Sex: Age: Male, 8 years old

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering? Itchy, extremely smelly, oozing sores on skin. Has very dry skin.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body? Shivering all the time

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings? He doesn’t play with his friends much, seems withdrawn.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? I can tell that he is miserable.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease? Not sure, we rescued him in a few months ago. I do know that he had a Rabies vaccine in November or December and the previous owner had him on injectable ivermectin which they gave him daily orally in a piece of bread. Ivermectin is for parasites and that is why I thought he had mange. I knew that it was not good to give him Ivermectin everyday so I didn't give it to him. I guess he got worse when I quit giving him the Ivermectin.

6. Which time of the day you are worst? Pretty much all of the time.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? He hates bathes. I think mostly because it makes him even more cold than he already is. I don't think he ever feels good anymore.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)? No, I know he loves our family and loves to spend time with us.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather? Warm, dry weather - he is always cold

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
Easily irritated because he is miserable.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm? scared

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times? yes
- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc? no

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc? licks and scratches

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife? He loves everyone unless he is feeling really bad.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly? Don’t know

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions? He loves all food.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive? Normal

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive? Right now he loves to eat cause I started making his food for him & he loves it.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand? No, but I think his old dog food may not be good for him. He was on Diamond Naturals Lamb meal and brown rice.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs? Not sure, probably less as he is always cold.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type? normal

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping? He sleeps pretty good, he sleeps curled up in a ball to stay warm.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general? I know he sniffs the girls a lot.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all? Don’t know

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication? He came to me on Ivermectin. I tried Psorium 30C for 5 days which seemed to really help, but I didn’t think it would be good to contine too long.

22. What major diseases are running in your family? Don’t know

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance - lost almost all of his hair, scaly extremely dry skin, sores with oozing, shivers most of the time. I bought a coat for him but it sticks to his sores. He spends most all of his time curled up in a ball trying to stay warm. I wonder if he is in a lot of pain.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

I ordered the remedies and gave him the dosages specified and waited 3 days. He is doing much better. The sores are healing well and the body itching is better but he is losing more hair on his head and his ears are still very itchy. Overall, much better.

His nasty odor is much better also. He is still not pleasant to be around, but much, much better.

Thank you so very much for your help. I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I know he feels much better. He still has a long way to good health, but he is better.

Am I supposed to give him Rhus Tox everyday or was that a one day only thing. Also, I was giving him 5 tabs morning and night of the Hepar sulphur, is that correct?

Nigie 9 years ago
give him rhus tox every day .
And the dose of hepar sulph is right but at morning give a gap of half-hour between the dose of rhus tox and hepar shulp. and apply the mixture on the effected area two times a day.

Thank you!

ok, I did the water mixture & he is doing ok again, but still has no hair growth. Still completely bald except the top of his head. Any idea how long it will take for the hair to start to regrow. Just about to finish up the rhus tox & hepar sulph. Any suggestions?

Nigie 9 years ago
first of all we have to cure the skin problem completely after that if hair don't grow i will give him another medicine for that but our first priority is to cure the skin disease .
answer the questions depending on the answer i will give the dose of medicines he is taking:
1-by what percent the skin problem has reduced?
2-is he start playing with his friend and getting a little cheerful?
3-is he still feeling cold and his body is cold?
4-did any new symptoms or disease or change in behavior take place after he start taking the medicine?

1-by what percent the skin problem has reduced? A lot. He has not had that nasty smell for a long time. His oozing sores are pretty much gone.

2-is he start playing with his friend and getting a little cheerful? Yes, he is a very happy dog now. He acts like he is young again. He has always taken his medicine willingly, but not anymore, we have to hold him down to give it to him.

3-is he still feeling cold and his body is cold? He is pretty much over that. He doesn't shake in the house, but since he has no hair & it is so cold in our part of the country, he hates to go outside.

4-did any new symptoms or disease or change in behavior take place after he start taking the medicine? No, he just kept improving.

The blockage in the follicles occurs due to various factors and therefore the approach of homeopathy towards the treatment of acne is very individualistic. Homeopathy treats this problem from both inside and out. It helps from relieving the symptoms like itching, skin lesions and dryness of skin. DRSS health center is one of the great homeopathy center provides full treatment advice of such diseases. I was suffering from skin disease past year and I took treatment from them.

give him the dose of rhus tox as he is taking .
give him only one dose of hepar sulph at the morning instead of two times a day.
give him the mixture(calc sulph 6x,kali mur 6x,silicea 12x and kali sulph 6x) as he is taking .
do this for one more month and report back.
stop applying the mixture of calc flour 6x, mag phos 6x and nat phos 6x
take care.
