Acne, impulsiveness and muscle spasms

Hello,

I have been suffering from acne since 2004. My skin specialist qualifies it as severe acne.

Sex: F
Age: 25
Location: Mumbai/India
Weight: 50 kgs
Height: 160 cm
Sleep: Normal 7-8 hours. Occasional anxious dreams.
Appetite: Not intense. Eat very slowly. mostly veg diet.

Thirst normal.

Menstrual cycles: Regular, repeat after 24-26 days. Lasts for 3-4 days. Scanty on the 3rd and 4th day.

Problem: 1) White head like acne (cystic) leaving pigmented scars. Acne does not itch. Affected on - Cheeks, forehead, Back and chest. Greasy scalp. Granular dandruff, no itching. Hair fall present. Skin mildly oily.

Perspiration is kind of oily on the trunk and back.

2) Muscle spasms - arms and calves.Sometimes even abdomen.

3) Irresolute, changable moods, selfish, impulsive, procrastinator.

4) shooting pain in knees when kneeling on a hard surface.

I avoid going out. I have quit my job too. Meeting people is embarrassing. Can't bring my mind to think about anything else.

I am presently taking Plumbum Met 30 since Last Friday. One dose in the morning.

I am tempted to try Kali Bromatum. But I am confused as my acne doesn't itch. Rest all symptoms do match though.

Can someone guide me on this?

Prajkta,

Your remedy is PSORINUM 1M one dose in infrequent intervals ( maybe once in 3 weeks) if your symptoms still persist. Else, one dose would clear the problem in some weeks.

You need to give up coffee. If you don't give up coffee, you may never overcome your skin problems. Choice is yours.

Hope you know how to take homeopathic remedies. If you are not sure, look up some other threads where I have explained the same.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to confirm again my acne doesn't itch. And I quit coffee I was never a coffee addict. Just consumed occasionally during exams. Should I still go ahead with psorinum?

prajkta 9 years ago
Definitely, if its true that coffee was one of the factors that worsened the eruptions.

Psorinum is your remedy for this condition. I didn't say you were addicted to coffee or something...all I said was, Psorinum will not create a response in you as long as you take coffee. Its better to completely stop coffee during the treatment phase.

Also, abstaining from coffee, without taking Psorinum won't help either.

Since this is a chronic issue, it may take time and you may have to take quite a few doses of Psorinum once in two to three weeks till your skin is responding to the remedy. If your skin stops responding to this potency, you need to go to 10M single dose, if the eruptions still persist.

Initially, take a close-up selfie and then take Psorinum, one dose every 15 days. In about a month, compare your condition with the picture. If you think, things are improving, continue Psorinum, or else come back here for the second best indicated remedy.

Hi,

Just took my first dose of Psorinum 1M.

I looked up the materia medica and I have a good feeling about this remedy.

Will keep you updated.

Thank you.

prajkta 9 years ago
This remedy is most probably your similimmum in the present set of symptoms...though may not be your homeopathic constitution.

Since its a long standing problem, don't get impatient. I am very hopeful you will respond to this remedy.Though it may take some time.

rishimba 9 years ago
Hi,

It's been 6 days since I took the medicine. There has been no change. But I understand that I must be patient. I just wanted to ask that does re-occurrence of the suppressed eczema is the only sign I should look for in skin symptoms.

prajkta 9 years ago
Prajkta,

Please don't get impatient. Psorinum takes time to manifest its effects. Before 10 days we must not think about anything else.

I am not telling that Psorinum has to create a response in you! In case it doesn't create a response in about 15 days, we will think of the next best indicated remedy.

If a suppressed eczema recurs, its a sure sign of cure. But, that's not the only indication of its action.

Tell me, did you notice any recurrence of suppressed eczema in you after taking the dose?

Keep me updated on any changes that you see in yourself. It will help me to decide on the future course of action.

Hi,

There are some minor things that have changed I feel. I have not had a single muscle spasm/cramp in the last 6 days. But I cannot be too sure if it's because of Psorinum or the Plumbum Met. 30c doses (7) that I took a week before.

Second, I don't easily get sexually aroused. I only do around and during my menstrual cycles. But since the last 2 days I am feeling unusually sexual. And my period date is not even close.

I have been randomly itching at places. Sometimes. But I see no rash or anything on surface.

Also, my appetite has reduced all the more.

No changes in skin.

I shall wait for another week and update you if there are anymore changes.

Sure, let's wait for another week and then we can decide on the future course of action. I don't think the changes you are feeling, especially with regard to your appetite and increased urge could be anything to do with Psorinum. As far as 'random itching is concerned, it may or may not be a psorinum over-response. But again, its too early for psorinum to show any effect. It is said that a minimum of 10 days is required for psorinum to show its effect.

I was trying to work on your case again from the beginning to see if I ended up with something different.

Can you please think and answer these questions again?

-What was happening in your life at 16 when you started having these eruptions first? At what age did you start your periods?

-Tell me about your level of thirst. Do you think your thirst is normal, less or more?

-How does change in weather affect your health?

- What kind of anxious dreams do you have sometimes?

Hi,

I got my period sometime back. 7-8 days early.

________________________

I was in college when I was 16, rebellious than most of the other kids. Rebellious in the sense, not the adventurous kind but the arrogant kind who won't listen to her parents. I have always had inferiority complex. Because of my skin.

My thirst is normal. I consume around 2-3 liters of water everyday.

I used to have dreams about flying. Sometimes they are anxious (like I have an exam but I reach the venue after the exams got over) and sometimes they are absurd. Sometimes I get really intelligent dreams. I try to remember them after waking up at times. But I can never remember them completely.

When I go to Pune, since the climate there is not as humid as Mumbai's. My skin doesn't fell all that greasy or sticky.

In rainy season I get a lot of small bump like acne, filled with sebum (whitehead I assume)

Another thing I wanted to tell you my. Acne is quite different from the regular acne. The acne is usually small and almost never has pus unless I tease it and inflame it. It's just a lot of white greasy matter. That hardens after a few days and looks like a white grain with a yellowish/brown head.

I NEVER get acne on the lower part of the face i.e jawline and chin. neither on the nose.

Just the area closer to the ears on the cheeks of both sides (where guys have sideburns, it's kinda intense in that area)

My skin has that marked dirty look. and the skin is kind of shriveled on my hands and feet. I guess because my hands and feel are really skinny and look malnourished.

I still think psorinum is perfect for me. the mental symptoms just match perfectly even the skin symptoms.

Can you state the modalities of the spasms you feel in your calf and abdomen?

When is it more, what makes it worse and what makes it better?

Can you describe it a bit with the sensations in your own words?

rishimba 9 years ago
Muscle spasm in my case comes like a random current when I am walking, twisting my hand a little while adjusting in a crowded train etc. The pain stays like for 15-20 seconds and I don't move my leg for that time, 'cause it's kind of painful.

prajkta 9 years ago
You said 'Skipping meals and coffee and stress aggravates my acne.'

Again later you said when you go to Pune from Mumbai, the skin doesn't feel all that sticky because of Pune's not so humid climate.

Tell me, do you also find a decrease in your acne in Pune?

Did you happen to stay in Pune for long? Did the place have an effect on the acne as well?

rishimba 9 years ago
I have never stayed in Pune for more than 2 weeks. But my skin tends to feel less oily that's it.

My diet improves but I also get constipated when I am in Pune.

prajkta 9 years ago
Well, if PSORINUM works, nothing like it. Please also look up remedies like MERC SOL, RHUS TOX and Antim CrudE and especially the modalities of each. I feel one of them should strike the root of the problem.

rishimba 9 years ago
Ant crude is a good fit. But I am not obese I am slightly underweight (poor appetite), but I was the fattest baby in the hospital when I was born. So is there a possibility?

prajkta 9 years ago
You don't need to be obese to be fit for Antim CrudE. There are some marked symptoms of antim crude which may be looked up like that of the white coating on the tongue, aggravation by warm and cold bathing along with the mentals. I asked you to look up the modalities of each as I wasn't sure of them.

The way you have written your post, your mental make-up and your penchant for details and accuracy leads me to believe you may be a ARS ALB personality. This remedy also covers most of your peculiar and strange symptoms.

If nothing works, try this one out as well. Look it up first.

Keep me updated.

rishimba 9 years ago
I have studied Arsenic Album. I am not fastidious. My mom is a good candidate for Ars Album. She often complains about her feet 'burning'.

I do have a white coating on my tongue. I thought it's normal haha. The symptom that I think matches most is I vomit after consuming alcohol. Even one peg whiskey is enough to make nauseous.

And yes I have had a terrible heartbreak episode when I was 16. I thought that is normal too. It's more of a repressed memory for me.

Well, I guess white coating on the tongue, especially in the morning, before brushing and rinsing is commonly seen. Antim Crude talks about 'thickly coated white tongue' that sets the person apart from others.

Do you think the eruptions started after the 'heart-break'? If it was a case of failed love relationship, and if the out-breaks happened just after it, you need to take NATRUM MUR first. This has to be the first remedy to try. This remedy was coming up in 3rd or 4th place everytime I was solving your case. Because I didn't have the etiology, I didn't suggest Nat mur.
