(2nd opinion) Cat & Calc Carb

Hello, My cat is 13 years old and suffers from constipation where she is very distressed/out of sorts when she has to go. She walks around the house until she is able to get her stool out. It starts very dry and gets softer with foul odor. After a lot of other holistic and clinical remedies haven't worked (plus she refuses stool softening foods like pumpkin and squash and will not take digestive enzymes hidden in her food), I had a homeopathic practitioner have a look at her. She is a happy cat, although not all that active. It was recommended that I give her 4/5 granules of 12C Calc Carb dissolved in water every night until her problem resolves.
My concerns are 1. I do not want her to go more than three days without having a bowel movement as she may develop mega colon from this which is pretty much irreversable, but the practitioner just wants me to wait it out. I am not very comfortable doing this. A cat not having a bowel movement for 3/5 days is the equivalent of a human not going for 12/13. and 2. I was under the impression that Calcerea Carb was one of those deep and long lasting remedies. Is it okay to give it to her so often?
Could someone please let me know their opinion of this. I'd appreciate it.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
just bumpin this post to see if someone would offer me some guidance.
Thanks.

So it was just given on the basis of not being distressed during constipation? That is a bit of a flimsy reason to give a remedy daily 'until something happens'. The remedy should work within 3 days if it is correct, although complete cure make take a bit longer than that.

There isn't enough to make a proper prescription here though - have you given a case for homoeopathic prescriptions before?

Here is my last post regarding my cat http://abchomeopathy.com/forum2.php/395202/
The Arsenic Iod 200 that was rec'd I wasn't able to get. I just could not find it around here. Although, her fur tearing subsided/was solved when the weather became less humid and I gave her an ointment for eczema.
Thanks for your comments. I will wait the three days and see how it goes. She did have a bowel movement today that didn't seem as uncomfortable as before although there was just a small amount of stool.

Ah I see there is a little more of a case on that thread. I might have a look at those symptoms and see if another remedy stands out.

So, this Calcarea Carb has not resolved her constipation. Only slight difference I have noticed with her is she seems to have a bit more energy. That could be the weather however.
Vet has given me Lactulose (non digestable natural sugar) to give to her and recommended ground flax in her diet. I had already been giving her the flax, but will have to do it more often.

If I look at the following rubrics:

Fear of noise
Fear of strangers
Fear of cats
Startles easily
Startles as from fright
Desires open air
Warmth aggravates

the main remedy would be Lycopodium.

Thank you for your response.
Would it be 12C again?

What potencies do you have?

I do not have any currently. What is available for me to purchase is 12X, 3C, 12C, 30C and 200C.

(sorry for so many questions), ....and do I dissolve in a third of a cup of water for her to drink? How many pellets? Just a single dose before bed?

Do you have some kind of small bottle, one with a dropper would be best. It needs to be clean (no chemical residue or other substances like herbs etc).

Fill the bottle up with water, dissolve 2 pillules into it. Once dissolved, hit the bottle firmly 5 times, and place a single drop into her mouth if you can. Try to drop it on her tongue.

Do this once at night then once in the morning. Do not do the second dose if she seems noticeably different in some way.

Will do. Thanks. So, you think Calc Carb was just the incorrect remedy? Maybe I was doing it wrong. I dissolved 4-5 pellets in a small amount of water, stirred very lightly with a plastic spoon and poured the water into her water dish. She drank from it freely until I replaced her water about 6 hours later. Probably lots of openings for contamination there I am thinking.

I can see what it was prescribed, it came up in my analysis too. But it missed a few symptoms I think are important. The remedy has to cover as much as possible, so hopefully Lyc will be a better choice.

Hello, so it' been nearly five days and I have not noted any positive or negative symptoms. Have put her back on the stool softener.

Alright she does not seem overly sensitive. Repeat the Lyc 30 but hit the bottle 10 times, and do this for another 3 days, once each day.

Thank you kindly.
