First GOUT attack - Need prevention for the future.

On one of the coldest nights of the year (maybe years) I woke up to extreme pain in the right big toe. I could not walk for about 6 days without pain and limping. I did not have health insurance and was extremely stumped at the problem - so I did research online and contacted one of those pay-for-online-doctor things and he said it was gout. I was so astounded that *I* would get gout. I made fun of the gout/uric acid commercials (the ones for the prescribed medication). Fact is, I really didn't understand it. I had no idea how ABSOLUTELY painful it is.
I immediately changed my diet to stop drinking sodas, very little meat intake, added more water and more veggies. I am feeling good now. So good that I find myself slipping when it comes to good food choices. I know other issues inter-relate to the acute attack. I want to get to a root cause as I think this attack is a wake-up call.
I had no 'classic' risk factors except being overweight and the poor diet (I realize that those are big factors, however) but I do not drink alcohol, am not over 50, am not male, I am not experiencing menopause, etc.
I am beginning to believe there is some other metabolic issue at the core - whether gall bladder, liver, kidney, spleen, thyroid, or other issue. There is so much overlap in symptoms that as a non-doctor or expert, I am confused.
I am very against the drugs that doctors prescribe and refuse to take them whenever possible. (I currently take absolutely no prescribed medication and zero supplements.) I would appreciate a homeopathic consult - even on these forums - if anyone would care to drill down to the root issue for me.
Thank you for any help!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Whenever our body stops removing uric acid through urine it gets deposited in joint area making its movements worst because of our diet like red meat and alcohal and which you have already realised .for prevention pl donot use high protein diet and very rich iron diet..You can use urtica urens Q homoeopathic med 10 drops in 4table spoon of warm water three times daily.Avoid cold places without protection.Arnica 30wet doses twice daily can also be used.more water with proper elimination through urine

Thank you very much for your reply. I will look into those remedies.

I am wondering, though, these appear to help with the removal of uric acid that builds up, but is there something else (besides food) that would be contributing to the excess uric acid problem that I may be able to 'help along' with another remedy?

Last summer, before I ever really heard of gout, I visited an acupuncturist a few times for anxiety and depression. She stated that my constitution leaned toward low heartbeat with the kidneys and spleen. I wasn't able to continue treatment due to lack of money.
After the gout attack, I went back to the same acupuncturist and she continued to see the same constitution. She worked on the kidney/liver/spleen meridian and there was much improvement. I am scheduled to go back for continued treatment but wanted to supplement this treatment with homeopathy.
By the way, I suffered from depression and anxiety due to losing my job, my longterm boyfriend, and my parents to death all in about a six month timeframe.
Would it be valuable to anyone here if I filled out that questionnaire that I see in some of the topics here?
I won't bother if there appears no need to delve any deeper.
Again, I thank you, akshaymohl, for your kind and quick response. I am not ignoring your advice at all. I need to make some orders.
