Learning Disability

Hi,
My son is 17 years old. He has been diagnosed as having a language based LD. He is tall slim although he loves to eat and has big appetite. He has a hard time learning his school stuff. Takes a lot of time to start his work. He is smart but he cannot reproduce what he learns in the test. His retention ability is very poor. He is not physically restless but his mind seems to be restless. He wants to do everything very fast without paying attention to detail. His focus is poor when it comes to school work. I am very worried as his school grades are constantly going down due to these issues.
When he was a kid he had speech delay and he was on Baryta Carb and he improved a lot. He has come a long way compared to his childhood. Now he needs to improve his concentration, attention and memory in order to prove it in the report card. He also bites his nails all the time. Can someone please help? Right Noe he is taking Gelsemium 1M and anacardium Orient 1 M alternatively every three days. I am still not sure if he is improving. Can someone please let me know if I am giving him the right med or if there is any other medicine.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Give all information starting from the time his mom was carrying him.

Did his mom undergo any trauma during pregnancy?

Do you shout at him a lot when we gets low grades?

Do you think he is getting adequate love and affection from his parents?

What are his hobbies, likes and dislikes?

What is his thermal preference? Is he clean and tidy?

What are his cravings in food?

Describe his personality as he comes across to his friends, brothers, parents.

No I did not have any trauma during my pregnancy. Yes, sometimes we do shout at him when he gets bad grades. Not only that when he was younger his teachers used to scold him and complain about him everyday. So, he used to get scoldings from us.
He does get a lot of love and affection from both parents. If he is upset for some reason he will crave for a hug from me. Every now and then he comes to me to get a hug. If he knows I am upset he says, ' mom my heart is hurting'. Until I forgive him and give him a lot of hug. He is very apologetic.
He likes to read maps, he likes to read articles on different businesses also likes to play video games and is associated with online social groups where he feels he is appreciated and accepted. He also likes to watch sports. He also likes to eat different kinds of food.
He dislikes reading, studying.
No, he is not clean and tidy. He never combs his hair or puts lotion or cream on his face or body. Not conscious of his looks. Has a hard time tying is shoe lace and neck tie. Struggles to button his shirt although he can do it. You will know he is not fast like other kids. Altogether he is a pretty clumsy.

He loves to eat rice, meat, fish and vegetable. He is not too fond of sweets. He doesn't like eggs.

For the parents he is a very loving and caring young boy who constantly seeks parental appreciation and affection. He wants to please us all the time.
He has a lot of friends but most of them are not from his school. I guess in the school many kids understand that he is not so mature so they don't include him. He constantly wants to attract his peers. He craves for acceptance and praise from his peers. He tries his best to be cool in front of his friends. He is talkative and fun to be around.
He is basically immature. So, it's sometimes easy to convince him as he believe you without question. He wants to do well in school but doesn't know how to.
He has fear of fire, knife or any tool that makes noise, needles, loud noise.
When he was little he had delayed speech. His said his first word at the age of two. As a child he had some characteristics of autism but he got over them. As an infant his adenoids gland was enlarged and he had frequent fever. That was treated with homeopathy.
He could never draw well. As a child he also had fixation in his drawing. First he used to draw helicopter then computers then roads. He still has an obsession of drawing roads. He still has a hard time tying shoe laces. He gets frustrated if things seem difficult and gives up easily. His eye contact used to be poor but that also improved with age. Now his eye contact seems fine. If you see him you will not be able to say he has any disability.
He took Batyta carb for three years along with other medicines which I am not aware of. His improvement is phenomenal. Now the major concern is his focus, attention, ability to retain information, his motor skills, his immaturity and the few fears he has.

The only fruit he likes is mango and he also doesn't like to eat sweets.

He seems to be a PHOSPHORUS child. You need to discontinue the remedies he is taking as they will not create a response.

The only two remedies that may create a response are Tuberculinum and Phosphorus.

You can give him a dose of PHOSPHORUS 1M and notice his behaviour for the next 15 days.

Give him the remedy first thing in the morning ( 3 drops of remedy in 10 ml of water slowly sipped up in clean mouth and empty stomach) and then let him sleep for another two hours.

I don't have any idea about phosphorus child. I just want to add that he always wants to lean on something. If he is sitting next to me he will leAn on me. He likes to study while sitting in his bed half lying. If he is sitting at a desk doing homework he will put his feet up on a chair with an exhausted look on his face. He is not good at sports. He couldn't learn swimming after getting trained for years. Finally he gave up.
Do you still think he is a phosphorus child?
Should I give him one single dose and then stop and observe for 15 days?

Yes, I feel he is a phosphorus child. If you surf the net and get to know homeopathic child personalities to read, please do. Guess you will agree with me then.

Try with a dose of phosphorus...if you think it produces a response, give him whenever he needs it again...maybe once in a month.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will buy Phosphorus in liquid form. Let me see if it is available here in Canada. I will let you know.

I have ordered phosphorus 1M in liquid form. Meanwhile, I was reading about Phosphorus Child. The website said the child will have fear of darkness, ghost and so on but my son is not scared of any of that. He is scared of sudden loud noise. I forgot to mention that he grinds his teeth at night. His digestion is also not good. He has a tendency of over eating and then get smelly gas.
He is colour blind. His sense of direction is excellent.
He is grade 11 and he doesn't have much time before he applies to university. I am very concerned about his learning problems. I will get back to you after giving him the medication.

Whatever you read in lectures on homeopathic constitutions are universal sets of mental and physical symptoms.

It is not necessary that each individual will have all the symptoms of a remedy.

Try phosphorus for some weeks and then an alternative could be given if this doesnt work.

rishimba last decade
I see. I will get back to you after giving him the med. every time I read my post I feel there is more I should mention. Therefore I will edit my first post to include more symptoms.

I gave my son Phosphorus just the way you said. It seems that in the morning he was not so tired and sleepy. He woke up and started studying and was motivated. I am still not sure about his focus but will keep updating you.

zee last decade
You may not be able to know changes in his focus/concentration or attention span so soon.

For the next few days observe his overall mental state, energy levels, sleep and digestion etc.

Try to ask him on how he feels after taking this remedy. Does he feel some change in his state of well being?

Once you know there has been a quantum jump in his well being, all other things will fall in place gradually.

rishimba last decade
I did ask him and he said he feels more energetic. I will keep asking questions and get back to you if there is any significant change. Thanks a lot for replying.

I must also tell you again that his condition may relapse after a few days. As soon as you notice, maybe after about 15 to 20 days, that his mental states have reached a plateau or are going backwards, you should give the second dose exactly in the same way.

Continue with this potency as long as it produces results.

I have been noticing a positive change in my son's energy level. I still have to wait a bit to be sure about his attention. He had acne and dandruff and it seems to have improved a bit. I will keep you posted.
It will be 15 days on the 8th of Dec. should I give him another dose then?

zee last decade
You should give him another dose only when you see he is entering a plateau in his improvements or going backwards. You will come to know as his mother as to when he needs one next...maybe once in 3 weeks or 4 weeks. But it should be based on his symptoms and there's no thumb rule for it.

Don't bother about his grades now. Seems he is responding well to this potency. Everything will fall in place now.

Rishimba,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I am being very observant towards him. I will wait for a few more weeks. I think he is in a plateau as far as his energy is concerned but definitely did not fall back on it.
Thanks so much giving me hope. it's very comforting for me as a mom. My son is also colour blind.
In your earlier message you mentioned about Tuberculinum. I remember giving him Bacillium 1M once in August 2012. I believe it s the same as Tuberculinum. Am I right about it?
I'm sorry if I am getting a bit impatient. I just keep worrying about my son. I apologise for that.
Thanks a lot for your help.

zee, I can understand, being a mother you are bound to be worried about your son's health problems...so its alright with me.

Your son's homeopathic constitution is PHOSPHORUS and this belongs to the tubercular miasm. I have not suggested tuberculinum as his symptoms don't call for tuberculinum. In case in the future, phosphorus ceases to work on him even in the highest of potencies, we will probably have to give an intercurrent dose of tuberculinum.

But for the present, don't bother about tuberculinum. Keep giving him phosphorus whenever he needs one. Once the potency exhausts itself and ceases to create any response, you should go for the next higher potency...and so on.

Keep me updated once a month.

Take over!

Thank you so much. I will write once I give him the next dose. Please don't ever leave the forum.

Dear doctor,
I thought my son's energy level was going down so I gave him another dose of Phosphorus on the 14th of Dec but after that his energy level went even more down. There is no change in his focus. What should I do?

zee last decade
Can you order and keep with yourself TUBERCULINUM 1M so that when the time is right you can give him an intercurrent dose of tub.

Give him tuberculinum 1M one dose when it arrives.

As I told you earlier, tuberculinum should open up his symptoms.

Report to me after a week of giving tub.

rishimba last decade
I have Bacillium 1M at home. Can I use that? Should I give the medication now?

zee last decade
No, you cannot give bacillinum.

Don't rush to give the dose. Please get TUBERCULINUM 1M and give it when it arrives.

Also, if PHOSPHORUS 1M doesn't act on your son's mental symptoms after the dose of tuberculinum, you may have to give one Phosphorus 10M dose. This dose shall not be repeated without my consent.

rishimba last decade
Ok, I will do that and get back to you.

zee last decade
One more thing, should I buy it in liquid form?
I will also buy Phosphorus in 10M.
