IBS/Depression

Hi, first I'd like to thank anyone reading this for their time. I've tried asking for advice on boards before and no success yet, but I'm just about out of other options. I've tried everything. At this point I'm not really expecting to get better but I would really appreciate suggestions from anyone who has any ideas for anything that could just make me a little more comfortable while I wait for the end. The one thing I'm not interested in is trying multiple remedies at once. I let someone talk me into that once and felt worse. My health is so bad right now I don't think I can cope with much in the way of an aggravation.

My symptoms shift around a lot so it's difficult to describe, and I'm not very good at expressing myself. A lot of it seems to be related to my digestion. My most persistent symptoms are acid indigestion and problems with carbohydrates. The upper digestive pain is very bad, much worse before my periods.

Digestion: I think this is the root of most of my problems. I'm running out of time with my digestion. I'm down to only a handful of foods I can partially tolerate. I'm afraid to try new foods because I don't know what will set me off. I can't handle carbohydrates at all. Sugars and starches aggravate my entire body and especially my digestion, but I have very strong cravings for them, especially before my periods, to the point that I dream about eating cake, ice cream, bread, etc. Also pass many leafy vegetables undigested. Now I've developed problems with animal fat. I have a lot of acidity in my stomach, aggravated by acid foods, with a gnawing pain on the upper right of my abdomen. I have pains around my naval and aching, bloating and internal itching throughout. I have a lot of gas, and loose bowel movements (currently long and narrow) with occasional constipation. I have some rectal bleeding and pretty bad rectal and vaginal itching. I'm on probiotics and curcumin, which help a bit. I don't know if the curcumin is aggravating the acidity but I can't live without it. (Note: I was on a lot of antibiotics for sinus infections as a child, which probably aggravated things.)

Hormonal problems: I've been diagnosed with PCOS. My periods are often irregular, sometimes as much as a month late, and always heavy. It varies from month to month but I've had large clots, membrane, gushing, stringy mucus, and sometimes they stop completely after several days and then suddenly resume a day or two later. Every other symptom I have is worse leading up to my periods, and sometimes during or immediately after. Toothaches before periods (I have a lot of decay.). Mucus discharge between periods. I also feel feverish before my periods, with an elevated temperature, and the heat is mostly in my torso and face with cold extremities.

Chemical sensitivities: I have severe adverse reactions to alcohol, most allopathic medications and to chemical odors, and also have similar symptoms when my digestion is especially bad. Symptoms vary from one attack to another but I usually have insomnia, sometimes complete loss of sleep for days on end, heart palpitations (worse lying on left side), burning lips, shaking, and sometimes hallucinations. I see hideous faces and sometimes insects and hear music and murmuring voices. Also sometimes have drymouth, thirst, diarrhea, loss of pain sense, and alternating euphoria and anxiety.

Sleep: Terrible. If I get 6 hours I count myself lucky. Sometimes I can't fall asleep and can't wake up in the morning, sometimes I have very early waking, often I wake repeatedly through the night. If I take too many homeopathic remedies too close together, it gets much worse. I'm also often sleepy in the afternoon and wide awake at night. Tend to throw my arms up over my head. I have intermittent spells of nightmares, most commonly of being trapped in a confined space, completely helpless and unable to move, and of being attacked by zombies. Also some nightmares about being attacked by black dogs and of fire. Occasional dreams of flying and of turning into animals. I also have a lot of dreams involving underground tunnels. The claustrophobia dreams are absolutely terrifying—I wake up shaking, with my heart pounding, and never want to sleep again.

Joint pain: I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, scoliosis, and plantar fasciitis. Most pains better from cold, worse from overuse, holding one position, and standing. Joints feel bruised, very tender to the touch, crack frequently. Grating sensation in knees, pulling sensation down the backs of my legs. The joints in my legs and ankles feel loose and weak. My feet are sore and either icy cold or burning in hot weather. Hands frequently ice cold.

Mental state: Really severe depression and anxiety, worse before periods, worse from carbohydrates. I worry about everything. History of cutting. My depression is always improved if I'm well enough to do any creative writing. But I'm extremely self-critical, perfectionist, and very nervous about showing my work to anyone. I get overwhelmed easily. I have autism and am unable to work and live with my parents. I have no social life as an adult (now in my thirties) beyond my parents. No friends, have never even been on a date. I get lonely but whenever I'm around people I just want to get away. I can't eat in front of people because I'm afraid that I'll make a mistake. When I'm talking to people I'm afraid I'll say something wrong, have the wrong facial expression, wrong body language, etc. I feel like I can't do anything right. I tend to be pretty secretive. I always feel like, “Why would anyone want to talk to me?” and feel like I'm just bothering people. (Right now I'm too sick to even attempt a social life, but this information is if you need to know more of my personality.) I have severe claustrophobia, fear of any situation where I feel trapped, helpless, or like people are trying to dominate me. Fear of being arrested, of heights, intermittent irrational fear of the dark (that something, like a monster or a corpse, will grab me out of the darkness). I also have ADD—I have difficulty concentrating, get bored easily, procrastinate, and I'm prone to daydreaming. But if I find a subject interesting I can get somewhat obsessive about it. Very absent-minded, poor memory.

Other: I get shortness of breath where I feel like I lack the energy to draw breath or that there's a lack of oxygen in the air, which seems to be aggravated by heat and by my digestive problems. (I don't do well generally with extremes of heat or cold, but I'm worse with heat.) Hay fever. Feeling that my feet are about to leave the ground when walking. Occasional premonitions or clairvoyant dreams.

Previously tried Carcinosin 200C, Nat Mur LM1, Arsenicum Album 30c, Mercurius Vivus 200C, Lachesis 200c, Lac Caninum 200c with no reaction. Thuja 30c cleared up a nail infection but aggravated IBS and sleep with no improvement. Calc. Carb 200c improved mood a bit and aggravated stomach acidity pretty badly, with a slight improvement afterward. Pulsatilla 200C was the most effective thing I've tried. It took a week to start working and I had perfect sleep and normal bowel movements for another week before it wore off. (My bowel movements are still less changeable than before I first took it several months ago.) Didn't work at all when I repeated it later. Belladonna 200c seems to have helped the chemical sensitivities a bit and maybe gave me a few nights of improved sleep but it's hard to tell. Sulphur 200c may have improved my digestion slightly and aggravated my joints but again it's hard to tell, and my mood and sleep seemed unaffected, though I think it improved the sugar cravings. Tuberculinum 1M may have improved my mood very slightly but my symptoms have so many ups and downs it's really hard to tell.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experiences and happenings.

1. What are your main complaints ?
Complaint (a):___Digestive problems_______
How it happened: __Lifelong, worse from various allopathic meds, now spiralling out of control_______
Complaint (b):___chemical sensitivities_______
How it happened: __too many allopathic medications?_______
Complaint (c):___Fibromyalgia_______
How it happened: ____??? worse from IBS and hormonal problems_____
also depression, ADD, autism, polycystic ovary syndrome—all except PCOS lifelong and probably hereditary, PCOS hereditary and symptoms from puberty

2. What physical sufferings do you have in your body?

Digestive: acid indigestion, abdominal pain (gnawing pain upper right, naval pain, general severe ache and bloating, feel like my intestines are itching). I'm running out of foods I can tolerate at all and I can't see how I can survive much longer. Shortness of breath, either like it's an effort to draw breath or there's not enough oxygen in the air. Burning lips. Occasional loss of sense of pain. Feverish before periods. Burning feet in warm weather. Cold hands and feet. Scoliosis. Back and joint pain, very tender like a bruise. Very bad knee pain, grating under kneecaps and pulling all down the backs of my legs, soles of my feet very sore. Heart palpitations.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

Very bad depression. My mood yo-yos up and down, mostly down. Complete despair and hopelessness. Everything seems meaningless. Absent-minded with poor memory. Severe anxiety. Sometimes hallucinations, mostly of horrible distorted faces, worms and insects. Occasional euphoria mostly from chemical sensitivities. I'm terrified of taking any medication for fear of aggravation or adverse reaction, but if I don't take anything I just keep getting worse.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst?

It's absolutely terrifying. I feel like I can't take it and it just keeps getting worse. I feel like I'm trapped in a body that's determined to self-destruct in the most painful way possible and there's no escape.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

Birth. Much worse at puberty. Had (since removed) amalgam dental fillings to which I seemed to be allergic. (Similar allergic reactions to other metals) Various reactions to medications.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?  Varies from day to day, often tired in the afternoon but otherwise no regular pattern.

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same?

Worse from heat. I often get chilly and have trouble sleeping from cold, but I'm much more aggravated by heat, which has a generally bad effect on my mental state and makes me feel like I can't breath. Most back and joint pains better from cold. (Knee pains don't seem to respond to anything.) Everything is worse from carbohydrates. Milder problems with animal fats. Acid foods. Knees and back much worse from standing. Aggravated by allopathic medications and chemical odors. Mental state better if I have something interesting to distract me from my problems, much better if I'm well enough to do any creative writing. There's very little that makes me feel better.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

MUCH worse from menses. Don't react well to stress at all. Anything with any sort of deadline. Anything with an uncertain outcome. Anything where people are relying on me—I'm terrified of screwing it up. Reading about people being falsely accused of a crime (I'm terrified of being locked up.)

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

I like somewhat cool weather. Cannot stand hot humid weather.

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

CHANGEABLE. Moody. Paranoid. Paralytically shy. Extremely anxious. Usually very quiet. I have a pretty wild imagination, though. I have ADD and often have difficulty concentrating, daydream a lot. Easily bored. Can focus obsessively if something catches my interest, though. Perfectionist. Extremely self-critical. I tend to hide any creative projects I'm working on and have anxiety attacks about sharing them. Procrastinate.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?  Usually I feel a little more alert and alive.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?  I don't know. I just want it to stop hurting. Telling me it's all going to be fine is just a patronizing lie.
Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?  Odors. Startled and sometimes irritated by noises. Eyes intermittently very sensitive to light.

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
weeping, talking to one self etc?  Weeping. Sometimes head scratching. Restless pacing. History of cutting. Used to bang my head when upset, and to chew nails (fingers and toes) but managed to give up these behaviors in teens/early twenties.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

No adult relationships with anyone but my parents. (Disabled and unable to work.) Some days I feel like I have no feelings and feel guilty about it. Sometimes I'm very angry with them for making me feel like a burden, and feel guilty for that. I am a burden on them but I didn't ask to be born and I didn't ask to be sick. I worry about them a lot, too.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I have severe claustrophobia, fear of being paralyzed or restrained, fear of any situation where I feel trapped, helpless, or like people are trying to dominate me. Fear of people generally, especially men. Fear of eating in front of people and of talking on the phone. Fear of being arrested, of heights, intermittent irrational fear of the dark (that something, like a monster or a corpse, will grab me out of the darkness).

Dreams: I have intermittent spells of nightmares, most commonly of being trapped in a confined space, completely helpless and unable to move, and of being attacked by zombies. Occasional clairvoyant dreams. Dreams of eating cake, ice cream, candy, bread.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?  Cravings for carbohydrates of all sorts. Sometimes salt. Apart from carbs, it changes around a lot, sometimes I don't know what I want.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?  Varies but I guess pretty normal.

14. How if your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?  Varies.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?  CARBOHYDRATES OF ANY SORT. Now having problems with animal fat. Alcohol.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

Not sure what's normal, but I sweat mainly under my arms. Can be pretty heavy when I'm sick or stressed.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

I have a lot of gas, and loose bowel movements (currently long and narrow) with occasional constipation. Sometimes it's almost like foam. Undigested leafy vegetables if I eat them. I have some rectal bleeding and pretty bad rectal and vaginal itching.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

Terrible. Sometimes I'm kept up by heart palpitations, sometimes I just can't go under no matter how tired I get, for days on end.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

Never had sex. Used want a relationship some day, but I'm afraid of men and was always too sick to have any sort of social life. Now I'm too sick to care.

20. How do you think you are different from others, if at all?

I'm autistic. Sometimes I feel like human beings are an alien species. I have an above-average IQ but I usually feel like I'm not as good as other people.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

All sorts of psychiatric meds when younger, didn't work well and always had side effects. Many antibiotics when younger, probably contributed to IBS. Currently taking probiotics, and curcumin for IBS and joint pain, also helps depression—I can't go off of this, I cannot survive without it. Nasalcrom for hay fever. Homeopathic remedies: Previously tried Carcinosin 200C, Nat Mur LM1, Arsenicum Album 30c, Mercurius Vivus 200C, Lachesis 200c, Lac Caninum 200c with no reaction.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

Tumors, diabetes, depression, Alzheimer's, bipolar, and there seems to be a hereditary dog phobia.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance

5'2”, 110 pounds but low muscle tone and flabby (especially around stomach.) Wavy red hair, green eyes, light freckled skin, and a large enough nose to be teased for it as a child. Underweight until puberty, then overweight until in my 20s.

24. (ONLY FOR FEMALES)

Please answer the following questions:
(Please give details of your past menstruation if you have attained menopause.)
- Are the periods early, regular or late in general? How long do they last?  Sometimes regular, occasionally early, often late (up to a month late). Usually don't last more than a week, but often stops halfway through for a day or so and then resumes.
- Do you suffer from any kind of physical or mental discomfort before, during or after the periods?  YES. Uncontrollable weeping. Despair. Joint pains, toothache, flareups of IBS and chemical sensitivities. Elevated temperature and feverish chills. Heat in my torso and face with icy cold extremities. Usually worse before my periods but sometimes worse before or after.
- Is the flow scanty, normal or excessive?  Excessive, with a lot of gushing.
- Is the blood thick bright red or pale watery?  Can be any or all of the above in the same period, also sometimes dark or brown.
- Any kind of vaginal itching or discharge  Yes—itching, and a large amount of mucus between periods.
- Dryness  Yes, sometimes.
- Do you notice any clots in the flow? Yes, often large, and membrane.

Please let me know if I've missed anything.

Please get Carbo Veg 30C. Let me know once you have it, I will tell you how to start dosing. If its in liquid dilution, it's better otherwise pills/pellets will be ok. And even I would say, you will soon be doing well.

Okay, I can get that locally in pill form.

I just want to be sure this is the right remedy. I'm running out of time and I don't know how much longer I have to live. I looked it up and it says patients have cold breath and an imperceptable pulse? My breath feels like it's burning, like it's coming out of a furnace, and my heart is really pounding. And I don't see anything about cravings for or problems with carbohydrates, which is my main problem. Also I have a lot of spells where I feel really hyper. I feel like I'm going out of my mind. I can't see much in this remedy that matches me at all.

Also I think I tried a few doses of this a few years ago, and got nothing but a weird taste in my mouth.

I just want to make absolutely sure this isn't a mistake caused by me being unclear in describing my symptoms.

Hi,

Please don't validate my prescriptions if you are relying upon me for your treatment. I know why I am giving it.

Zady101 last decade
Sorry, don't validate it???? I don't understand.

Also wondering why you are giving it--I know I always do a bad job of expressing my symptoms, so I just want to be sure I'm not the one screwing things up, I'm not trying to question your competence.

Also if I do take this remedy how do I take it and how long will it take to tell if it's going to work or not?

portulaca last decade
Hi,
On questions - if I may clarify here.

One - he meant to say Invalidate not validate.
Two-It would probably take a small book to explain
the reasons.Having the remedy work depends on
matching Certain symptoms not every symptoms, and
it also depends on the Potency chosen, and how to
dose it right, the right amount of times, the right
amount of waiting etc.

Just go with this and you will be very closely supervised
by Zady on your reactions- he knows what he is doing
and of course you are extremely agitated due to
what is going on, but please follow what Zady tells
you to do.

On question Three, just get the remedy. He will tell
you how to dose and he will adjust things after
your reactions to it-You have to take it first.

simone717 last decade
Okay, so how do I dose?

portulaca last decade
You have expressed your symptoms in an almost perfect manner, and I have understood them well.

This remedy and the one that will follow it will address some of your most pressing problems.

This marks the beginning of your recovery. Be optimistic!

No that's a mistake. I was copying remedy solution bottle procedure from Tara and Sepia got copied. You have to do Carbo Veg 30.
I am sorry.

Zady101 last decade
Okay, last night was the third night. I can't see any reaction at all, everything's still just going downhill. Should I change the dose, try something else, give it more time?

Really going through a bad time. Mood swings, can't stop crying, feeling that I've done something terrible (what, I have no idea) that can never be forgiven and that I have to be punished for.

portulaca last decade
Take 1 dose of Natrum Mur 30

Put 5 pellets in 8oz disposable cup, stir several times and take a teaspoon from it ONCE.

And please don't worry, your treatment has begun. Please give it some time.

Zady101 last decade
I'm sorry, the guilt is an ongoing problem that's just going through a bad spell right now, it's not a reaction to the Carbo Veg. I've been treated with Nat Mur previously and it doesn't do anything for me. There's no change whatsoever from the Carbo Veg that I can see, the digestive issues are completely unchanged.

I had also forgotten to mention I think that I have some mild OCD symptoms--I have spells where I keep checking that I've shut the fridge door, flushed the toilet, hidden the stories I'm working on, etc.

portulaca last decade
But I want to know how frequently does this happen, when you cry.

And when did it happen this particular time. Had you started Carbo Veg?

Zady101 last decade
It really varies--I think it's linked to my hormones, which are always wildly unpredictable. I was having some pretty bad ups and downs before I took the Carbo Veg, that didn't seem to make any change in the crying, depression.

portulaca last decade
Ok, let me come back to you on this.

Give Carbo Veg bottle 7 taps, take out 7 drops into 3 teaspoons water, stir and drink.

Zady101 last decade
Okay--still once per day?

portulaca last decade
Take this dose first and update tomorrow, then we will decide.

Zady101 last decade
Well, my period ended and I'm feeling better hormonally, but I'm still having trouble seeing any change from the Carbo Veg. It's a little hard to tell with these ups and downs. I don't know if it's possible for people to be immune to this dosing method?

portulaca last decade
Carbo Veg is working. So we should let it work.

Dose once a day. Please update me after 5 days, or earlier if needed.

Dosing procedure:

Give Carbo Veg bottle 7 succussions or taps, take out 7 drops into 3 teaspoons water, stir several times and drink.
