Tooth broken off and open to infection

I have a tooth that has been 'saved' several times by the dentist that is to say it has been patched up, but on Sunday when I was eating some pizza it broke off completely, there is just a very sharp piece sticking out about 10% of the tooth and the rest is at just below gum level, I can get to see my dentist before Friday and was concerned that the tooth could get infected although at present there is no pain, can anyone recommend something I can take to try to ensure it does not get infected?

Thanks,

Sophie.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
google hydrogen peroxide and teeth for this. Use a 50/50 mix of
hydrogen peroxide and water - a few times a day to kill germs till
you see the dentist. Spit out the mixture, don't swallow it.
