1 yr old baby with no appetite

Hi! I'm a new member who's asking for some help/guidance about my child.

My baby boy is 12 months old, very active, but weighs only 17 lbs and 13 oz. His weight at birth was 6 lbs and 1oz. Since he was born, he hasn't really shown signs of hunger or an interest in eating. He is a picky eater and when he eats he only eats few teaspoons.

He has been diagnosed with RTA Type 1 and is allergic to diary, soy and egg. He also had reflux when he was younger, but no longer takes medication for his reflux.

I'd like to know if there's anything that I can give him to increase or improve his appetite.

Please help! Thank you.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I suggest you give him the tissue remedies - Kali Mur 6x, Ferrum Phos 6x and Calc Phos 6x - 2 pills of each twice a day.

Thanks for the reply.

What would these remedies actually do to my son? Are there any side effects?

Since you asked for something to improve his appetite, that's what the remedies are for. Don't worry - the tissue remedies are absolutely safe - they are just replenishments of salts present in the body. No side effects.

If the above suggested medicine doesn't solve your baby apetite then please give lycopodium 30c 1 dose. Allow 3 pills(30 no. size) to disolve on the tongue of the baby after or before 30 mins of food taken. Lycopodium is made from charcoal and is very powerful medicine to increase apetite. Don't worry about any side affect.

Please let me know the result.

Great, I'll go ahead and buy these remedies (Kali Muritaticum, Ferum Phosphoricum, Calcarea Phosphorica)

One final question..Since my son is allergic to milk, soy, egg, I'd need to purchase the liquid dilution? I noticed that pills and granules are lactose based, correct?

Thanks again.

I don't think you'll get the tissue remedies in liquid form. Far as I know, the pills will not aggravate your son's allergies. If anyone has any info on this, please post.

My baby is 4 months old, her weight at birth was 6 lbs. and now little less than 10. She has never been interested in eating. She was diagnosed with RTA at 3mo and is also allergic to diary (and maybe to soy)... I’m looking for advise on what kind of food can I use to feed my baby, instead of formula! Which cause her reflux, my breast milk is over! Any suggestion? Guill44 Please, my case is so similar to yours that I couldn’t wait to ask you for help! You may have well advises.

Thank you!

Hi,

I started offering cereal to my baby at 5-6 months. A cereal that is free of soy and diary is 'Earth's Best Organic' There are 3 diff types: Rice, Oatmeal, and Multi-Grain Cereal. I think Beechnut cereals are also safe for our allergic children. Thereafter, when he was well tolerating the cereal, I offered him veggies (Gerber baby food - sweet potatoes, green beans, green peas - one at a time). Then, fruits, also from gerber. He didn't like fruits that much at that age, now at 13 months, he seems to enjoy more to eat fresh diced fruits. At 13 months, I also offer him a formula called Neocate. It's a hygoallergic formula. It doesn't taste good at all, but at least he drinks it most of the time.

Hope this helps. Contact me if you need more information.

Good luck.

msmom:

If the breast milk has been the cause of your child's reflux problem, I strongly suggest you taking Silica 6x, twice daily for 10-14 days. It worked miracle for my son when my wife took it on walkin's sugestion. Couple of other friends have also benefitted from the same. I strongly suggest that you contiue with breast-feeding for the child to keep gaining good weight! Formulas are not that good because they contain cow's milk which is a cause of allergy in many children.
If silica 6x does not work in 10 days, then use 30c, one dose each day for three days.

Thanks for your reply. I started about a week ago feeding her Rice and Oatmeal (Beechnut) cereals, mixed with her formula, She seemed to like them better than the formula alone and it also helped with the reflux She ate a better meal last night than she has in days. I'll order the Neocate formula to give it a try! I'd offer her gerber baby food with the spoon, but she still put every solid out of her mounth.

About my breast milk, it's gone almost 2 months now, because she didn't nurse (she hated) but I pumped my milk for about 11 weeks until it dry!

Thank you both!
Good look with your baby!

I have a 6 month old boy who has not doubled his birth weight. I have never used any homeopathic drug before so I am a little nervous giving it to my baby. When I looked up lycopodium 30c and a website mentioned it is use to cure erectile dysfunction. I cannot post a link on this forum but if you search of Lycopodium 30c in google, it is the first website. Are we sure this drug does not have any side effects? Please help. I am really worried for my baby. My baby is 14.2 lbs and 6.5 month.

In Post number 42703 on this website, another mom gave her baby lycopodium and the baby got a urinary track infection. Could it be because of lycopodium? She did mention that her baby's appetite increased after giving him the medicine. To get to the post, just replace 33295 on the url of this link with 42703.

Thanks for replying. I can't find the new post you've opened. Can you send me the link or post number for that? I picked lycopodium 30c because Post #s 33295 and 42703, both suggest that lycopodium 30c will increase the baby's appetite. Is that not true?
