Sunburn/tanning questions...

Hi there everybody. Happy summer to those of you in the northern hemisphere!

I have another post on here regarding my skin problems, but this is slightly more light-hearted.

As I have got a bit older I have noticed that my skin tends to burn more at the beginning of Summer. I am not looking for a remedy (I guess it would be Belladonna?) but something topical.

I have Aloe gel and some hom Burns cream which help a bit - certainly worth trying if they are new to you.

What about sunscreen tho'? I am allergic to every sun cream I have tried and wonder if there is a natural alternative (other than wearing a hat!).

Hopefully this could be useful to others as well...

 I've heard one very natural one, but doubt you want to use it: dung.

More practically speaking, if you can gradually expose yourself bit by bit starting in off hours (sunwise) of day, you may be able to develop some "tan" gradually instead of starting with a burn.

Myself, I go with hats and ventilated long sleeve shirts in the peak sun hours of summer.

The supplement Beta Carotene helps you absorb the UV and enhances tanning. This does work - I used it myself a couple of years ago and being a red-head pale skinned Scot I tend to burn easily and not tan at all! Anyway it did work and I actually tanned but the side effect was I was really dizzy and woozy on it.

I'd welcome anyone elses experience of this supplement? Maybe it reacted with something else I was taking at the time but I cant remember!
