Crataegus oxyacantha and warfarin?

I wonder if I can give my father homeopathic Crataegus oxyacantha D30 in the combination with warfarin without interaction ? He is given Warfarin in the evening so I wonder if I give Crataegus oxacantha in the morning. I have read that Crataegus oxyacantha as tincture interact with warfarin.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
In addition do other homeopathic remedies interact with warfarin such as nux vomica, rhus tox, causticum, ruta grav, cuprum, etc

Homoeopathic remedies have no measurable physical substance in them for most of our commonly used potencies, so no you will not get chemical interactions as you might with herbs or other drugs.

D30 means the original tincture has been diluted 1 drop in 10, 30 times. That is a fair amount of dilution.

However, our medicines can have side effects if not prescribed according to our stringent principles, so you could still get your father into trouble that way. Finding the right medicine, finding the right potency, and being able to adjust the dosage are all fairly complex aspects of treatment.

Many thanks for your answer. The medication has been prescribed by an professional homeopath with over 40 years experience. Despite that I wanted to check with other sources before I give Crataegus oxycantha D30 and Nux vomica for his paralysis (left) after a stroke, great irritability, panic attacks, dementia signs in conjunction with warfarin. He takes Rhus, Ruta and Causticum for arthritis, which has significantly improved. Earlier x-rays show severe arthritis in hips, knees and spine. Due to the homeopatic remedies he has stopped Durogesic, Parcemetol as well Renictec BP medication. Many thanks again.

That is already too many remedies. One remedy only at any one time should be taken - in fact only one can be right at any one time, so all the others must be wrong.

Is your homoeopath prescribing multiple remedies for different parts of his body/disease? That isn't how traditional homoeopathy is practiced.

Your opinion might correct in other cases and according to your school of homeopathy. In my fathers case it has worked very well. And this is according to the medical methods with eg. blood tests, x-ray. I am sorry that you are so narrow minded and I cannot belive or percieve the information I have given. A true homeopathy must inform the patient that are different school in homeopathy. By this I think should countinue to ask other homeopaths about my question. Many other homeopaths have suggested remedies to my father.

'I am sorry that you are so narrow minded'

In my opinion, you are more than right.

Many prayers for you and your father.

It is possible to be flexible in your approach and still stay true to the philosophy, which has been developed to safeguard the patients not hinder cure of them.

He clearly is not cured. The goal of homoeopathy is to find the simillimum, which cures all complaints that the patient has. Clearly using multiple remedies hasn't done this, as you are needing to add yet more remedies into the mix.

One of the main problems in comparing the different methodologies is the confusion over the definition of cure. Orthodox medicine, which routinely uses multiple prescriptions and carves the body up into seperate components for treatment, sees Palliation and Suppression as worthy goals of healing. Homoeopathy does not. Cure in traditional homoeopathy is clearly defined.

One of the reasons I created a thread about patient reactions is precisely to clear this confusion up for people on the forum. It is easy to say a medicine is 'working' when everyone has different definitions of what 'working' is.

This is not to say that patient might not need a sequence of remedies to cure them. However, each remedy should be assessed before a new one is given, to see if the case has changed, to see if there are side effects or aggravations. When you give them all together, it is impossible to judge what remedy is doing what.

My purpose here is not to reprimand you for the way you are being directed to use homoeopathy. I can only give you my clinical experience as a classical homoeopath. If you are happy to continue this way then I will step out of this discussion. Good luck with your father's treatment.

I have asked Dr Bob Leckridge,
Specialist in Homeopathic Medicine, Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital. Although I do not know if I have the right to refer to him, he told me homeopathic remedies of LOW potency (less than 12D or 12C) can contain active molecules of the original substance so you should NOT use ANY of them when your father is on Warfarin.
However, any homeopathic remedy of, say, 30C potency will not cause any problem with Warfarin. No interaction. No adverse effects.
So, to be clear. It is safe to use a homeopathic remedy of potency 30C or higher when taking Warfarin.
