Hello there,I saw some answers posted by Pankaj Varma regarding fluid on the lungs and it sounded as if it was beneficial for the ladies mother...
My mum is 74 years old and had a mild stroke about 5 or so years ago... since then she has been put on blood thinner medication by the hospital and told that she has an enlarged heart with irregular heart beat. She also has high blood pressure and is on cholesterol medication. Around February, this year, she attended a funeral and came home with serious flu symptom,unable to breath, no energy, drained etc.. this condition continued for weeks. She went to the doctor and he gave her antibiotics. The symptoms never quite cleared up and she began to cough, the cough developed and she was constantly coughing up white mucous.She also complained of pains in her shoulders, general stiffness and feeling cold all of the time.Over the months she has got worse, unable to go out,no energy, loss of appetite,slight weight loss (she is over weight,about 17-18 stone), irritable and snappy and extremely breathless. She regularly goes to her GP to get her blood checked and her medication monitored.due to her symptoms the GP increased her water tablets. During July she finally agreed to go to the hospital, by this time she was having extreme difficulty with breathing and walking and her legs, stomach and ankles were extremely swollen. The hospital kept her in for 2 weeks and 5 days. She had her medication levels reduced, a caffeta fitted to drain the excess fluid off of her lungs and was on oxygen as her oxygen levels kept on fluctuating.As well as the fluid on her lungs and around her heart, she was diagnosed with kidney problems.she is now at home and still does not have any energy. the hospital told her to rest,which she is doing, but she is not back to better health and needs constant support. she goes toilet every hour or so and the extreme coughing has returned and the pain in her neck and stiffness, as well as feeling cold. her legs and ankles have gone down a bit but her legs are very tender and sore. She constantly goes to and fro to the bathroom during the night so her sleep pattern is broken up.Since going into hospital and coming back out sometimes she is confused and disorientated. Please can some body help, I am very concerned.
