seeking remedy to cure chronic urethritis. | From claudine [Log on to view profile] | on 2005-06-02 |

Hi.
about 1.5 years ago, i suddenly found myself with what i thought was a very severe UTI. After trying to treat it naturally, and the pain becoming too much, I went to a doctor who was fairly conscious. I was then sent to see a gynecologist, and then a urologist, all of which put me on a total of 4 courses of anti-biotics. They reduced the pain and swelling to a level that was tolerable but the situation was never cured, or even suppressed. I was tested for uti, and for various strains of bacteria within my urine stream, and while bacteria came up, if i remember correctly it was not within the traditional strains(?) {it was a long time ago} The doctors couldnt seem to find an appropriate antibiotic to address my unusual case. I have been dealing with things since that time, including dissociation and mental illness, that have made something like a urethritis, when i can barely feel my body, not a priority to treat. So it has been a constant in the background. Recently it has started to become painful again. All of these doctors couldnt really figure out was wrong. I was given a meaningless diagnosis of non-specific urethritis. I was and have not been sexually active, so it is not related to intercourse, or std's all of which i have been tested for. It is also not a UTI or bladder infection. I dont remember anything specific that preceded this inflammation, infection etc. But then it was a long time ago.
Symptoms - Swelling of urethra, inner vaginal wall swollen, soreness, irritation, swelling/soreness/perhaps inflamation around entrance to vagina pain during urination the pain is fairly constant not so much that it interrupts my life, but its always there if i notice it. during urination however it is impossible to ignore.
i notice no unusual discharge. it's just painful.
also i have a chronic if not lifetime case of athlete's foot. i have tried vinegar soaks, tea tree and essential oil concoctions, and chinese herb soaks. Nothing has worked.
Symptoms: Very itchy cracked skin on bottom of feet, in between toes, and on inner side of foot. Proneness to strong perspiration. Terrible odor. worse in winter, socks, closed toe shoes. better during summer, open toe shoes/ air. scaley cracked dry skin one spot is so in need of healing, that the skin is pink, sore, scabbed, and won't seem to heal.
i entered my symptoms in on the Remedy Finder and was given cantharsis, and thuje for the urethritis.
for the athlete's foot : silicea, sulph, sep, calc, thuje, and graph
does anyone have any other suggestions? or suggestions for dosage, potency, and frequency of doses?
thankyou very very much! claudine |

I have had some success in treating similar cases of non bacterial irritation of the UT and incontinence in males but do not know if the same remedy can help you.
The Remedy I used was Arnica 30c taken 3 times daily. It usually helps from the second dose onwards and it may be worth while your using it to verify if it can be of any help.
I do hope that others on this forum will also give their suggestions on remedies that can help.

thankyou for replying.
it is in fact bacterial. at least it was 1.5 years ago, when i initially went to the doctors. it just didnt fit into their traditional bacterial picture for urethritis or uti. so there is where they were just going through every antibiotic they could figure out to treat it. after 4 courses, i didn't want to take anymore, and i chose not to go back, because i felt the urologist was narrow-minded, not holisitically informed, and not a person i wanted treating me. i am not informed enough to know if a baterial infection can persist for a year and a half, without having done more damage. I do not have a sense of this having gone up into my kidneys, as there have been no additional or unusual symptoms, except for a little more acne outbreak on my ace, neck, shoulders, chest, and a general unhappy state of my skin. but then my health must be affected by my level of disconnection to my body, and utter loss of vitality of energy/anima/lifeforce etc.
thankyou again. claudine

Claudine,
CANTHARIS VESICATORIA is of unquestionable value in treating UTI and inflammation of the Urethra. I would suggest you to look up the remedy picture for this and see if it fits your case.
| Re: seeking remedy to cure chronic urethritis. | From Joe De Livera [Log on to view profile] | on 2005-06-02 |
May I suggest that you see another Urologist and discuss your problem with him ? Since it was accepted as being bacterial in origin over a year ago, it should be still the same and must not be allowed to continue as the bacteria will cause other problems in your UT and elsewhere in your body.
In the case of a similar infection in a male the drug of choice is Ciprofloxacine but I do not know what drug is used for females. I have used this drug myself for Prostatitis and also post surgery some years later and know that it works although I had to take a long course for 6 weeks.
I am not convinced that Homeopathy can deal with a deep seated infection such as yours and I suggest that you see a competent Urologist immediately. | This thread continues beneath the following ad.

I feel that homeopathic medicine can help in getting rid of the Athlet's foot.
I've had Athelet's foot for last 7-8 years. I had also tried all the things, vinegar, tree tea oil and other things even clorine bleach and offcourse synthetic medicines but nothing helped until I tried Molkosan(fermented) whey. I applied this liquid over affected area twice and I had 80% improvement in a month and half. But fungus between toes did not improve much. Then I was taking low potency of Graphite for some other reason and noticed and it cleared the fungus between the toes completely.
| Re: seeking remedy to cure chronic urethritis. | From claudine [Log on to view profile] | on 2005-06-02 |
vlohia,
thankyou. i will try this, what potency of graphite were you taking? is it something i should be taking once or twice a day at say 30x?
i've never worked with homeopathics to treat anything but acute conditions, so im not familiar with how to dose for something like this, or length of time, and frequency.
i will do a web search for moloson whey, and see if i find it. thanks so much for the reccomendation!

| Spoke to doctors from last year - NO bacteria was found.. | From claudine [Log on to view profile] | on 2005-06-03 |
Apparently, there was no bacteria found. They did an extensive blood work up on me, and that was all normal. And the final "diagnosis" was -
Urethral Syndrome (non-specific)
so perhaps the arnica will work. i will have to get some at 30c.
i took a few doses of the cantharsis, 1 last night and so far 1 today, at 30x.

Hi claudine. For one, why did the Remedy Finder give you two sets of remedies - did you enter the complaints separately? What you should do is enter ALL your symptoms (well, as far as possible, so go with the main ones) in one 'search'. As far as athlete's foot goes, a great cure for it is to use Bacillum 200, 1 dose, wait 3 days, follow with doses of Sulphur 30 for 3 days (take around 10 a.m.). Wait, report. You may have to repeat one or both remedies. Do not take any other remedy when you take Bac. What would be even better is to read up each of the remedies suggested (esp. Thuja and Sulphur) and see if any (ONE) covers you as a person, and covers all your symptoms. Come back if you need help. Good luck.
| Re: seeking remedy to cure chronic urethritis. | From vlohia [Log on to view profile] | on 2005-06-03 |
Claudine,
I made the graphite remedy as suggested by one of Kuldeep's post.
Here is how I made the Graphite Remedy which is not equal to 'x' or 'c' grade remedy.
I made lines on a small clean rock using h2b pencil, put the in a bottle filled with 400 ml water (I used 500ml bottle) and successed the water 100 times. Then I used one tablespoonful of remedy from it.I successed the water twice everytime before I took one spoonful of remedy from it.
You may choose to get low potency of grapite remedy(say 3x) from the pharmecy.
I had so much problem with Athelete's foot that I could not wear the shoes for even an hour (due to intolerable burning). I would use the synthetic medicine for 20-25 days and things would be back to where they used to be in one day after stopping the medicine.
May be very low potency of sulpher might also help if graphite does not work.

It has been almost 7 years since I first posted here about this issue, and in that time I have made NO progress. I have got to urologists, gynecologists, and now am seeing someone thought to be an expert as far as interstitial cystitis, (which is close, but not what I have.) I am in unbearable pain, and I don't know what to do anymore. I want to get this treated, i want to not be in horrible pain every day. I haven't tried dosing this with homeopathics in a long time, but would consider close to anything at this point.
Symptoms remain the same as described in the above post, at times they get worse, with no correlations i've discerned other then things like sex.
but currently and for the past 2 months things feel much more severe in terms of being in constant pain to the point of crying and moaning and the only small comfort is from a heating pad..
I am in constant urethral pain and vaginal pain, my urine burns me, i have cutting and sharp pain at the beginning, middle, and end of urination, and am in additional pain after urination. The urologists I have seen have ruled out, and 2 years after doing rule outs, tons of medications, and anything else they've suggested and I am no better.
I have no urging to urinate, no abnormal frequency of urination, and no real problems with the flow of it. I have had an mri, a cystoscopy, and now a ct scan, all with normal results.
My needs at this point are to reduce pain and inflammation, soothe the mucuous membranes and skin in my vagina, and return in some way to being able to function through my days without living on a heating pad and being in constant pain and burning.
I have a periwash bottle, and am considering trying to figure out if herbal poulstices or periwashes could assist, i am considering 5-flower and traumeel combined with warm water in a peribottle after urination as another possible treatment. But I am open would love to hear from anyone who might suggest anything else in terms of vaginal pain and relief.
This is driving me batty, and i am so very frustrated and very tired of being in so much pain all the time.
Please help.
Thankyou in advance. [message edited by claudini on Mon, 09 Jan 2012 01:54:13 GMT]

I will try to post a complete picture here of the illnesses that are current for me.
-muscular spasms in the vaginal walls that are worse with any sort of stress, stress makes me clench, and then i am in somewhat severe pain, when i am able to be relaxed there is still the constant tenderness, soreness, and consistent pain is still present. worse after sex, slightly better from applied heat.
-urethral pain - ache & sensitivity, dysuria and very painful on urination.
-on the dysuria, consistent pain upon urinating, never free from these symptoms.
-my own urine burns me, I imagine perhaps because inflammation or tissue is very sensitive.
-entire pelvic region feels as though i have been beaten up there. it is as though i am very bruised, but with no discernible cause.
-trace proteins consistently showing up in my urine - thought to possibly be clinically significant - it has been reccomended that i see a nephrologist to make sure that there is not a concurrent kidney related issue.
mri, ct scans, and cystocopy show no abnormalities in bladder or urethra, kidney and bladder ultrasounds and ct scans also normal. i am not pregnant, and have been tested for std's. I have not yet been checked for pelvic inflammatory disease. there has been some issue present with bladder sometimes remaining a bit full, or me not emptying entirely.
- i am 37 years old, female, and have historically been in basically solid and good health. No major illnesses, no major allergies. I am quite overweight and quite sedentary currently.
-hydrentitis supportiva - cysts on inner thighs and under breasts. cysts are always present, some with clear pus, some with whitish pus, some with yellowish pus and blood. cysts are all different, some drain once and heal, some remain oozing, some are hard, some are soft, there is always at least one or two active on inner thighs, very prone to cysts, have had pilonaidal cysts as well that are recurrent in the same location. mild acne is also present and can be seen on back, face, behind ears, etc.
athlete's foot still present, worse in winter.
occasional swelling of ankles for no known reason.
I am basically looking to address the physical issues as I am in acute and somewhat debilitating pain and would like to be relieved of it.
I am very open to suggestions on any of these issues, homeopathic or otherwise. Am curious if there is an emergent picture of any kind from the description of all of my general physical compaints.
Thankyou in advance for your time.

Also worthy of mention:
The doctor/nurse practitioner have mentioned a few things. Doctor found my urethral pain unusual... mentioned that he does tons and tons of cystoscopies and it is part of his expertise, I know he is well known in the study of interstitial cystitis, but anyways, he mentioned that my pain upon insertion of the cystoscope to be a little remarkable, and tried the child sized scope on me, and still couldn't insert it without me literally jumping off the table and yelping out loudly. They had to put me under in order to do the cystoscope because he couldn't do it with a local anaesthetic, I think he may have gotten upset also at the amount of pain I was clearly in.
Nurse practitioner mentioned to me today that she believes I have severe urethral pain, (yes, thanks! i know!) and pelvic floor dysfunction of some kind, which may be a catch all terminology for non-infection related pelvic pain.
there seems to be quite a few different kinds of pain going on in the region and during dysuria. pain changes but because there are a few kinds happening, it is hard to pinpoint, but I can certainly answer questions and have been trying to get clearer so i can present the most accurate picture.

also worth mention related to genital pain and condition - tend to be very hot in this area, tend to notice no discharge, no itching, but do seem to bleach my dark underwear, underwear is frequently and quickly wet, mostly from sweat, and perhaps some slight ammonia type substance?
i am wondering if there is a secondary infection that hasn't been identified yet that is making the first condition much much worse. I am in such severe pain that I can't function, and pain has been worsening for 2 months.
Have another appointment with urologist tommorrow 1/10/12.
thanks for your time! I really appreciate it. | This thread continues beneath the following ad.

Hello Kadwa,
I don't own nat mur at the 1m dose. But I wanted to ask a question, and hope I won't insult you by doing so. I read about nat mur a little bit especially the emotional characteristics... I'm not very familiar with the usage of dosages in homeopathy, although I wondered perhaps what led you to nat mur as the choice for me. I have a concern here as nat mur seems to be marked by emotional control and indifference, and wondered if perhaps my answers to the questionnaire had led to the nat mur on another level besides physical.
The mental illness i mentioned the main issue now at this late stage of it, (it has been progressive and i have been deteriorating from it since 2004) currently i am very indifferent emotionally, but it is not constitutional and i don't know that indifference would ever have described me before the illness. Some elements of what i read certainly applied however... but I thought perhaps before I order the remedy, if i could ask what led you to this remedy for me...
I am willing to try it... but i just don't want the dissociative disorder that I have to create an inaccurate picture or inadvertantly effect the remedy picture.
thankyou so much by the way, for responding and suggesting.
| Re: seeking remedy to cure chronic urethritis. | From claudini [Log on to view profile] | on 2012-01-10 |
question 10 on the questionnaire:
I had trouble answering this, because I am very detached, or detached entirely from normal reactions, and from myself, it is the nature of the illness that began in 2004. Prior to this I worked as a kids entertainer and clown, a tarot reader, and was highly empathic and very sensitive, true to the description that i read of nat mur, characteristacally all of my life i have been very very strong, and have counseled people naturally all my life. I do prefer to maintain control, and currently do wall myself off a bit, but the dissociative illness really has disrupted my basic approach to life and character to a very extreme degree, that is hard for me to describe myself as jealous, moody, suspicious etc. I would have formerly described myself as insightful, sharp perceptions, very intuitive, warm, affectionate, with an innate desire to heal and help others, highly compassionate, very concerned with spiritual and personal growth. As I have stated the mental illness has had some very devastating effects on my life and has destroyed my sense of self. My cognitive faculties have been disintegrating in every aspect, and i am very frustrated in life because of this.
As i sit and reflect, perhaps nat mur is the correct choice, i mean certainly some of the descriptions do fit me or did at least prior to my current illness.
If that is the case I must say I am impressed with the choice . [message edited by claudini on Tue, 10 Jan 2012 15:30:29 GMT]

Sorry if I am providing too much information. If it seems I am obsessive, I have become that way a little bit recently, because the doctors have been no help, and I feel i am on my own with trying to come up with solutions on how to heal this issue. I feel in a sense that it is up to me to make sure I will heal. So i have been researching and have been very focused on this.

HI claudini. I am so sorry to hear of all this trouble. I also have had urethritis. Mine is more sore and itchy than anything. Had all the tests done. Then sent to a specialist and had a painful scope done with no progress or solution. The specialist gave me blue pills which just numb th epain and itching but i hate medication so i'd rather just suffer. But if you want a quick fix and don't have a problem with meds they can always prescribe you the same thing that numbs the nerve endings down there so you can't feel anything.
ON my own note: I have heard great progress about parasite cleanses being a cure all to a lot of problems such as any kind of physical ailments such as our problem and your athletes foot. I have actually just now purchased it about 15 minutes ago. i am also trying i guess they are herbal cures for urethritis. I will reply once i've tried them all. But you seem desperate like myself so I do recommend trying a parasite cleanse. Statstics say that up to 85% of all humans have some sort of parasite living in them. I don't know if that is accurate but just go to amazon and enter parasite cleanse then read all the reviews people post and you will be surprised at their success so I am trying that next. Good luck and Godbless love! |
