Baby with wheezy cough

Hi

My 5 month old has a bad cough at the moment and sounds very wheezy. I took him to the doctors and he said his chest was clear?!

He chest is rattly, and he sounds quite wheezy when breathing .... as soon as he falls asleep he starts the coughing ... and quite often wakes up retching.

Does anyone know the best remedy? I started with the Aconite as soon as his cough started, and also tried Sambucus Nigra for the stuffy nose.

Thanks so much

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
We would need more details to make an accurate prescription.

Please provide at a minimum the following:

1. What is the sound of the cough?

2. What does he look like while coughing, how does he act?

3. What other symptoms occur with the cough?

4. Does he cough anything up? If so what does it look, smell, feel like?

5. Does he have a fever? Are particular parts of his body different temperatures? Does he have chill? Is he sweating, if so where and is there any odour or does it stain?

6. Is he hungry? Does he want particular things - is he only on breast milk? Is he thirsty? (for someone so young these may be the same)

7. What is the colour of his skin? What is his general body odour?

8. What are his bowel movements like? Odour colour consistency of stool? What about his urine?

9. What is his general mood like? What makes him worse, what makes him better (happier or calmer)?

10. What happened just before the cough started? Was he just vaccinated? Was he on any medical treatment of any sort?

11. Is there a personal or family history of respiratory illness?
