Hi My Name is Hamid and I below to Lahore, Pakistan.

I have been suffering from the Alopecia areata which is now converted into aalopecia totalis and it started almost 7-8 months ago.

I am a married person with a daughter, and I smoke a lot. The brief history is I started gaining weight after my marrige and I started ATKINS diet (This I think could be one of the reason) in last October (2004). I lost almost 10 kgs (22 pounds) in one month and it continued decreasing after that. Now two of the problems occured at the same time i.e. Piles and alopecia areata. The piles is now cured with the help of some herbal medicine but the Alopecia areata is now converted into totalis.

I went to a doctor who perscribed me to tak KENAKORT (Steroid) for one month with some stress releasing pills along with a pill for Male pattern baldness named GENESIS. Also I tried some herbal treatments/oils for this but it not seems to cure.

Now my eye brows are also started falling but at the same time some very small white hairs begin to appear on the bald areas.

Is there any remedy for my problem.

I would get your doctor to check your thyroid function - or has this been checked already?

I have had some success in the treatment of Alopecia which was clearly visible on the patient's head with loss of hair in 3 separate patches on the scalp, slightly larger than 1 inch diameter.

I treated this ailment with Arnica and the hair grew back in about 3 months when the patchy areas were covered up again.

If you are interested in effecting a cure you must stop smoking completely. After you have done so you can use Arnica 6c in the following manner:

Get Arnica 6c preferably in liquid form or if not available in pellet form.
Get a 500ml bottle of drinking water and decant 100ml. Drip just 1 drop of the remedy or 3 pellets into the water and wait till it dissolves. Bang the bottle hard on your palm and watch for the fizzle of the water like when a bottle of soda is opened. This should be done 3 times before you sip a teaspoonful thrice daily. This is called succussing and is the secret in this therapy which increases very slightly every time you hit it on your palm.

The growth of new hair should be noticeable in about a month after starting on the therapy and you can then take it from there and vary the dose depending on how you react to the therapy.

No coffee, cola drinks and ham bacon sausages as they antidote the therapy. Also this will not work unless you cut your smoking completely out.

Please report response in a month

Hi Joe De Livera,

Thank you for your help. But before starting anything I would liked to update you with my current condition. THis morning when I was taking bath, I noticed the hairs on the soap and when I closely observed my body I found out that most of my chest hairs are lost. Also I found clear surfaces on my pubic hairs. So it tuirned out to me that it is now converting into Alopecia Universalis.

Now accroding to my current condition is there any change you may want with the perscription you have advised above.

I am vey dissapointed and tense today. May god help me.

Regards,
Hamid

I still think it is worth you getting thyroid checked as malfunction of thyroid is behind a lot of hair loss problems.

I agree with Erika

Hi Hamid,

Your case seems to be that of a sleeping/dormant syphilitic miasm that has got awakened due to the shock of that weight loss diet that you took. Other things which are impossible for us to know may also have contributed. You can try syphillinum 200 one dose and see if it reduces the hair fall at least to some extent. If yes then report again in ten days.

All the best.

Rajiv

Hello all,

I have been out of city for some work and have not been on the forum a while.

Erika, would you please let me know how thyroid can be checked. Should I go to a lab, a hospital or some homeopathic doctor?

According to current condition, I have had a medicine injected in the skin on the back of my head and now there are a very few black hairs appearing in that area with most white hairs. There are white hairs growing on whole scalp and face and at the same time my eyebrows are completely wiped out and eye lashes, chest hairs, and pubic hairs are falling. Hairs on legs and arms are still safe.

You can check my before and after pictures on this site.

Rajiv, I have been reading other topics in this forum and I have read USTILAGO 200 was perscribed for two of the patients. Can I use this also?

Thanks,

thyroid function can normally be checked by your regular doctor.

I have to agree that is sounds like this may be a thyroid issue. I too have begun to lose hair and feel it is related to this. I began to combine eastern/western medicine and will see what happens. You can go to your regular dr and he can draw blood and your tsh, as well as t4 and t3 should be checked

Hi,
A very close family member has been on the atkins diet for a month or two and yesterday she woke up with patches of baldness on her scalp. She and myself are totally distraught!!

She is lives a very healthy lifestyle (Doesnt smoke, doesnt drink alcohol) She exercises regularly etc..

She decided to go on the Atkins diet after the birth of her second child.

I have read on other forums of hair shedding and thinning whilst on the Atkins but nothing about Alopecia like symptoms until I read Hamid's posts.

She went to sleep on Friday night with hair and woke up saturday morning with one large patch of hair gone (front of head) and one smaller patch at the back.

She is going to consult a doctor tomorrow (monday) but we need advice and help from other people who are going through the same thing!

Has any of the suggested remedies helped?

Please please please help!
