Hypochondria and depression

My wife is 65 Yrs and weighs 81 Kgs. She is suffering from hypochondria and depression since the last 15 yrs.It all started when my Brother and father had heart attack, slipped into coma and finally passed away. Since then she started talking about all medical problems. She would complain abt heart problems and once we get her tested for all heart issues and all reports come clean, the problem would shift to some other body part. This way we took her to various doctors like cardiologists, neurologist, gynaec, orthopedic, thyroid specialist etc. Finally we understood she is suffering from depression. We started treating her with anti phycotic drugs which she was taking against her wish. She started feeling better and resumed her normal routine till she was on anti depressents then suddenly she went back to the old problem. That time we realised that she wasnt taking her meds and started hiding/throwing them away. The depression went to the extent where the psychiatrist started treating her with shock therapy. We tried her on the anti depressants for a while but she would stop taking them on her own wish. She complains that she has major constipation so we started her on an ayurvedic powder and eventually crushing the meds in tht powder and giving them to her. Shez been doing that for 7 yrs now but she doesnt know shez on those meds.
Nature of the patient-Shez usually very quiet types.Doesnt talk a lot,Just finishes her work and likes to be alone. After taking these drugs shez become very introvert, doesnt like to meet her family members, likes to be left alone. Shez fond of good food but doesnt feel like cooking anything. Tries to avoid doing any work if she can avoid. Doesnt have any hobbies, doesnt like reading or developing any new hobby even though the family keeps pushing her do lots of things.....she wouldn't do them for more than 2-3 days.
She goes for morning walk and exercises and does yoga for an hr and complains that her legs hurt so badly because of her weight(shez not tht overweight considering her height is 5'6'.
Past medical problems- As a child she had paralysis and lost one hand. Her rt hand is non functional but she uses her left hand to support and do daily chores and kitchen work. She needs help in tying her hair. She has had her hernia removed by operation almost 20 yrs back.
Currently I'm in US with my daughter and she has a lot of homeopathy meds. I want to start her treatment immediately but if the meds that you suggest are not available with my daughter then i can start meds when i go back to India. Waiting for your reply........any questions are welcome

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Can your wife give her own case? It is dangerous prescribing on someone else's description especially in a mental health situation. We need the patient's own words, own expressions, own explaination of what is happening to them.

The problem is she isnt computer friendly so she cannot type. You can consider this her own statement and as far as I know homeopathy does'nt have any side effects.plz help

Homoeopathic medicines can have very serious side effects. Very serious and dangerous. These look like your ideas and observations about her, we need her words, her report of her feelings and sensations.

There have been instances, on this forum and others, where mental health patients have been treated without taking a full and proper case, and they have ended up in hospitals, or even in jail in one situation.

If she cannot type you can do that for her. We just need to know that she is willing to give her case, and that whatever is given is a true and honest represenation of her thoughts and feelings. There will likely be questions about her statements as well which will need to be answered.

Homoeopathy is not a shortcut method, it is complex and deep acting, working best when done with care and precision, and doing harm when done with haste.

Ok Sir......I talked to her and read out the case to her. She agrees to this as her state of mind. Please ask questions and I can have her answer and I can post reply back to you.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING HOMOEOPATHIC CASE INFORMATION

It is important to describe all your problems in as much detail as you are able. One word answers and short sentences are not particularly helpful. Discuss each problem one at a time, providing (as a minimum level of detail) the following information.

1. What exactly happens?
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
4. What creates some relief for the problem?
5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time? Did some specific event or treatment take place just before the problem started?

Move from one problem to the next, doing the same thing. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU GIVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH BY PROVIDING ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE, EVEN IF NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN ONE, AND EVEN IF YOU CONSIDER IT OF LESS IMPORTANCE. You should address each problem separately using the above 7 questions as a guide.

As well as this, please describe any traumatic incidents that have taken place in your life. Discuss anything that has had a lasting impact on you mentally, emotionally or physically.

Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.

Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior especially concerning your disease.

Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow, especially where this occurred around the beginning of your disease, or as the disease evolved.

Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.

If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:

1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate
3. What your sleep is like
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
6. What your general level of energy is like
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like
8. Describe your menstrual cycle

I will probably have more questions for you after that.

I also need to know what homoeopathic remedies you have taken in the past, and what the results were.

I will do my level best to make a reasonable suggestion of remedy for her.
