Ganglion cyst on ankle

My brother has been diagnosed with a ganglion cyst on his ankle (an uncommon place for such a cyst), He is contemplating getting an MRI and undergoing surgical removal (a pricey and invasive procedure). I have always been one to treat my own ailments holistically (herbally, homeopathically), and would like for him to at least attempt to go the homoepathic route before committing to surgery, Any ideas?

I, too, would like to know more about how to treat a ganglion cyst as my husband has had two on his wrist. The first one he had removed surgically. But then another appeared. He had it drained but it regrew. He is open to anything natural to get rid of this thing. He even tried a topical homeopathic treatment used for ganglion cysts on dogs (it was said to work for humans.) Unfortuantely, it did nothing for the cyst.

Well, I really do not like to have more than one posting on the post began by another.

One is an ankle on a man...this presents another remedy.

A wrist on a woman is different, also after surgery.

Jane27, post separately. We cannot try to keep up with several just because they sound similar.

To Sonjasha, Because it is on the ankle, Give two doses of LEDUM 30X in one day. Then some SILICEA 30X and give one dose a week for 3 weeks.

Silicea has a habit of forcing cysts to open and drain OR heal from the inside. The body will choose.

Please report progress.

Blessings, Sabra

Pardon, both men. Surgery would require ARNICA 1M before any further action.

2 doses, one each day. Sabra

I'm the brother with the ankle ganglion cyst. Thanks for your time & suggestions, Sabra. Could you clarify what you mean by "surgery would require Arnica before any further action"? Do you mean that if I decide to get the cyst surgically removed I should use Arnica before using Ledum or Silicea?

Oh my, this is not at all what I meant.

I meant that IF one has already had surgery, one should take some arnica for THAT surgery as it still contains the trauma.

This is what comes of trying to answer two at same time.

For the ankle that has not had any surgery...the ledum, and the silicea.

I like your name "thebro" made me chuckle. I raised 3 bros.

Thanks for making sure. Arnica would not have hurt at all, but good to be accurate.

Blessings, Sabra

Thanks for clarifying, Sabra. By the way, a chuckle is the least I can offer for your help! Raising 3 "bros" - wow. Hope you write a book about it someday...
A quick question - I got Silicea 30X but they didn't have Ledum 30X. 6C was recommended as a substitute. Should I still take 2 doses of Ledum 6C per day? Thanks, Sabra

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom sabra [Log on to view profile] on 2005-05-05
One of the 6C is sufficient and continue with Silicea for the 3 weeks. I do know from the past that this is a very slow healer, not the silicea, the G cyst.

No book, don't want to relive it. I couldn't be around babies for many years. Great kids, but I was a wreck for awhile. Had them in 4 years. You'd think I'd know what was causing it...yes? Had 3 brothers, 3 boys, 3 husbands and all male grandchildren, now over 25. Do I know about men??? Yep.

Keep posting about progress.

Blessings, Sabra

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom thebro [Log on to view profile] on 2005-05-19
I've been taking one dose of Silicea a week for 3 weeks as suggested. No notable change in the cyst. Should I keep taking the same weekly dosage of Silicea?

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom sabra [Log on to view profile] on 2005-05-20
Two more and then stop. Wait and watch. Stop Ledum also. This is a very slow thing to heal. Will get back in touch.

Keep posting.

Blessings, Sabra

Oops - I think I blew it, Sabra. You wrote "Give two doses of LEDUM 30X in one day. Then some SILICEA 30X and give one dose a week for 3 weeks." My understanding of this was that I was only to take 2 doses of Ledum the first day I started treatment. I have not taken any in 3 weeks. I've only been taking one dose of Silicea per week. Should I just continue with one dose of Silicea for 2 more weeks, or should I also take ledum? Sorry for the confusion!

I've been looking around here for a few things and it seems this forum has a big propensity for ledum and arnica.
I had a ganglion and found a place that said ruta grav, 2 times a day, 3 pills, for 15 days. After 14 days, mine was gone. I'd had it for 9 months, trying all kinds of dietary changes -- nothing worked. t was small and hard and in my wrist, right where the pulse is taken. I thought at first that one of those little bones in the wrist had broken and it was a piece under the skin. I didn't think the ruta would work because this was a hard object. But when it did, that's when I decided that homeopathy is real.
Try it and let me know if it works for you.

I see the post from pdsimdars...but in it he (she) does not say what strength the ruta grav pills were??? I have a ganglion cyst and would like very much to try these pills. Can someone please tell me about the dosage of the Ruta Grav.

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom pdsimdars [Log on to view profile] on 2006-04-01
It's Paul. I took them all and disposed of the bottle a year or so ago. They were nothing special, I just went to the store and picked up whatever was there. They were in the little round blue plastic containers that you could tap and have round pill pop out.
I was really pleased. And I would like to hear back from you about it. I'd like to see if it is as successful for others.
Thanks,
Paul

I have a ganglion cyst exactly like Paul described, on my left wrist where I take my pulse. I just went to the health food store and picked up some Ruta Grav in the blue thing shaped like a chapstick. Hopefully this works because I don't have health insurance. haha I am taking Ruta Graveolens 30x 3 pellets 2 times a day. Oops I just realized that they are supposed to dissolve in our mouth and I've been swallowing them. Can anybody tell me why we get these? I spend easily 10 hrs at the computer a day. Could this be it? I also recently got a purse that is pretty heavy and when it falls on my wrist it hurts. So that could be it. But I don't know.... I hope I don't get any more of them!!!

Beware this ment funny!

You got a purse that is pretty heavy?
Go to the bank and exchange all those coins for paper money.

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom skylar [Log on to view profile] on 2006-06-30
haha It's heavy because of the leather not the money inside, unfortunately.

I just want to know your results. Please make sure to post them. For me it was just about exactly 2 weeks.

Ruta is available as spice and herb at supermarkets. It is also called Garden Rue.

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom skylar [Log on to view profile] on 2006-07-01
Well, it has been over 24 hrs and i've taken the Ruta 3 times now, and it looks like the bumb has gone down a little bit. THat's what somebody told me. I will keep you posted. The ruta I got is in little pellets that dissolve under your tongue.

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom pdsimdars [Log on to view profile] on 2006-07-01
I think the pills are the way. I thought this was the homeopathy forum. And homeopathy is different from herbs. There is probably a good article somewhere on the forum that explains what homeopathy means. To me the concept seems similar to the difference between prana and air -- the prana is much subtler and has a totally different function.
Thanks

I finished the whole blue tube of Ruda Grav 30x 3 pellets 2 times a day and the cyst is still on my wrist! I am so sad. Please somebody help me to get rid of this. It isn't even smaller. Paul was very lucky to have it cure his ganglionic cyst. I wonder if mine is different....

Could somebody please help me with this? I would be so grateful...

I also have a GC on my ankle, next to my achiles tendon. My doc suggested surgery, but I am afraid I will be unable to get around for weeks after. Most of the time it is not painful unless something touches or brushes against it.

I will try the Ruda Grav also, and post results, but my GC has been there for over 5 years.

Re: Ganglion cyst on ankleFrom hollyberry67 [Log on to view profile] on 2006-08-14
I will also try the 2 doses of Ledum 30x for 1 day, and Silicea 30x 1 time a week for 3 weeks, although that seems like very low doses unless I have misunderstood the dose. You can find these online at smartbomb.
