What are Intercurrent medicines in homeopathy?

Can anyone tell me what are intercurrent medicines?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
An intercurrent remedy is one that is used during the course of treatment for chronic illness, to manage acute illnesses (where the state or picture clearly changes), OR to treat the miasm, obstacles to cure, or some problem that may have been caused by some other type of treatment.

So essentially an intercurrent 'interupts' the established treatment plan to continue forward motion (towards cure) of the treatment.

Intercurrents may be typical acute remedies (like Arnica) or Nosodes, Sarcodes, Isopathic medicines or well-established anti-miasmatic remedies.

Intercurrents are called for when a remedy that was otherwise working well, stops working and either the patient presents in a different state (Acute) or no longer shows any progression to cure (Obstacle).
