PCOD Problem & Miscarriage

I am posting this for my wife, who is diaognised for PCOD.

Please note the following points about her:
1. We are married during Nov-2008.
2. We had missed a pregnency (missed abortion) during March-2009.
3. After that, my wife had always had delayed periods, usually 5 to 15 days after the regular due date (even more sometimes).
4. A general chekup revealed that, she has bilateral PCOD (Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease) Grade-I
5. Pelvic Ultrasound scan shows the following results:
a. Anteverted, anteflexion Uterus size 61x30 mm
b. Myometrium thickness is normal
c. No uterine anamoly/mass
d. Cervix is normal. No cervical mass.
e. Endometrium thickness: 10 mm, Secretary phase
f. No hyperpalsia / polyp.
g. Right ovary size as 38x35 mm & Left ovary size 38x39 mm
h. Small multiple immature follicles in both ovaries.
i. No developing follicles.
j. No adnexial mass / hydrosalpinx.
k. No pelvic mass. No free fluid in the cul-de-sac.

6. She is taking in Ashoka Q for the past 2 months.

Recently, she is experiencing severe pain in abdomen, legs before, during the mensus & after menses gradually pain eases. Off late, we observe that, bleeding levels has decreased (bleeding completes in one or two days).

Her charecteristics:

- Has good physique and well built body, height 5.5 and weight 65 kgs
- Bottom part of body looks fat
- Mood is usually good, varies often and depressive most of the time, has fear of uncertain things, very sensitive
- little hairy mustaches (very little)
- Hunger is less
- white discharge (little bit) is observed during the month.

- Family History: Out of 5 paternal aunts (Father's Sisters) 4 have no children. We are not sure, whether they had PCOD, but all of them appear to be hirsute

Kindly advise, as she is fully upset

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I had a miscarriage around the same time. My body shut down totally afterwards. My menses were brought on by acupuncture and my cycle was regulated wth chinese herbal tea. I can really recommend that. It also stopped my menses being terribly painfull. Something I suffered from for over 20 years!

For the diagnosis, I do not see why PCOD was diagnosed.
From an ultrasound you cannot conclude this. Multifollicular ovaries are also common in Endometriosis (and with young women). Your wifes complaints would fit this picture.
Sadly the conclusion 'multifollicular ovaries = PCO is still very common, although this is an old idea, proven wrong for some time.

PCOD can only be determined by a blood sample. Check Androgens, LH, etc... It is a hormonal issue. Usually it is combined with an insulin insensitivity.

Best wishes,
hope I could help,
