homeo medicines potency,dosage reg

standard homeo texts advice ,normally,usage of homeo remedies in low potencies like 6c,30c etc a few doses only and wait for results.Some of the traditional homeopaths also advice the same.However it is seen some of the highly qualified doctors advice high potencies like 1M 10m to be used 2 or 3 times a day for several days.I request the specialists of the forum to enlighten us reg the philosophy.
