5 years old boy's ashtma
Hello there:I'm trying new alternatives to get a better results in conquering my son's ashtma.
He was diagnosed 2 winters ago after a cold that developed in a non stopping cough. We took him to ER and they told us that it was a serious ashtma attack.
Now he only gets it every time he gets a cold which is very frecuently and it usually last for 1 month of treatment ( nebulizer with albuterol and in some cases steroids).
He starts coughing ( dry cough) and have difficulty breathing, his stomach gets enlarge and he swets around his neck and forehead.
During the duration of the treatment he might starts coughing again after running or laughing for a long period.
If I can avoid the colds and flu I'm in a very nice situation but as I told you before He catchs everything from the school.
Last week he started with cold symptoms monday night and I happen to have COLDCALM from Boiron, I started the treatment and he got a lot better ,next day I bought CHESTAL from Boiron for the cough and it did good to him. He was back at school on thursday and only use the nebulizer morning and night.
This is why it made me think that he might respond very favorable to a homeopatic treatment to prevent colds and ashtma attacks.
It's also important to mention that on the last couples of cold he got swollen eyelids after using motrin and tylenol ( flavored ones). He never reacted on this way before and he is been taking this medicines for colds and teeth aches since he was a baby. The pediatrician recomended to use the free dye version but I have not use it yet since the COLDCALM and the CHESTAL helped him a lot on his las cold.
I've been reading some homeopathic books but I'm a little confused on what remedy is better for him or a combination of more than one and also I'm not sure about the potency.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Please give him three doses of Calcarea Carb 30c at a gap of 4 hours for only one day (not daily) and see how he responds in the next 10 days.
One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 1 drop in some 10 ml water. Sip up slowly.
Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 15-20 minutes before or after taking medicine.

I was going to start the treatment today Friday , but he spent the night with some cold symptoms (fever, headache and coughing). Then this morning after he woke up, around 10:00 am he started with a pink eye, following with yellowish-greenish discharged from his left eye. Also having discharge from the nose (same side as the eye). I'm giving him Pulsatilla 30C 5 pellets every 4 hours 3 times a day. The eye is draining a lot of yellowish discharge and also the eyelid is looking a little down.
Do I continue with the same treatment?? if so when can I start the Calcarea Carbonica??
Sometimes I feel that is one thing after another one.

He prefers warm surroundings or cold surroundings? What is the composition of Cold Calm? Calc carb may not work if he prefers cold surroundings. In that case Phosphorus may work better.

I would say that he prefers cold surroundings, because he never covers himself while he sleeps and as a baby he was always hot. the composition of COLD CALM is

Once this acute phase is over, you should give him Phosphorus in the same way as i told you to give Calc. and see how that affects him.

I can't find Phosphorus at my local pharmacy, so I have to order it online. What potency should i order??

I started the phosporus today. According to what you said I have to wait 10 days. Is there any reactions or symptoms I should be looking for??

I'm writing again before completing the 10 days waiting period with new developments.
Day 1
after treatment he came back from school feeling very tired. That afternoon he was quiet and sat down to watch tv for most of the afternoon, but at night he complained of difficulty of falling sleep. Finally he did and slept nice for the rest of the night.
Day 2 to 6
He was acting very normal, eating fine, and tired early evening, fell asleep aerly around 7:30 pm every night but he did wake up in the middle of the night with a sudden cough first dry and turning into rattling cough that seemed to have some mucus that he could not expectorate. I gave him CHESTAL for the cough and also ACONITUM 30 C (5 pellets ) only at the time of the cough that started to turn into an asthmatic breathing problem. Every night he had this , only one time and after the treatment , half an hour later he used to go back to sleep ,no more coughing, no more asthma. Next day normal, at school no problems and the best was not need to use nebulizer and/or steroids and/or inhaler.
day 7 - 8
we are on spring break and came to spend some time at the beach. it is still to cold to go in the water but we have been spending some time outside, walking ,strolling and running and playing. On the night he was coughing a lot. I tried same treatment with no luck. He kept coughing and coughing finally I had to use the inhaler during night time and nebulizer when he woke up this morning.
He is breathing fine so far this morning and no coughing yet.
I feel like i'm back at square one again. I don't know what to do today. We are still at the beach ( we are staying in a condo ) but i'm afraid to let him go outside to play.
What should i do???

We are back at home from our small vacation. I started the phosporus on tuesday as you said. He is still coughing every night and even sometimes during day time. It is high season for tree pollen where we live. Every surface outside the house, patio furniture and cars are cover by this yellow-green dust from the trees.I was thinking that this coughing might be an allergic coughing. It is definetly different from the ashtma coughing. I'm using nebulizer to relieve the coughing but sometimes even this doesn't seem to help that much. CHESTAL also helps him sometimes.
He doesn't show any other big symptom, not fever or other ailments so far.
Regarding reactions to phosporus, I'm noticing that he is hungrier than before, after his meals he complains still hungry. Still happy kid, plays well with his brother.
What can I give him to stop or control this coughing??
He starts school again next week and I'm worried that he won't get a good night sleep and also that they will send him back home because of the coughing.

I sent my husband today to our homeopathic pharmacy to get the salts and he bought the remedies in 6C potencies.
He got confused. Can I still use them or I have to return them and try to get 6X??? I called the pharmacy and they are not sure if the have the 6X.

Hello again:
It's been 10 days since the second Phosphorus treatment and these are the results:
He seems very happy and active, don't get tired as easy as before. He is slepping very well at night, very hungry and I can almost say that he is grown taller. This is maybe weird but his eyes are looking bigger and more round.
The coughing got better but came back again this morning .
I just got the salts on 6X today ( i got to order them on the internet)and I'm going to start the treatment that you recomended right away.
He is still thirsty for water but not as desperate as before. We could never leave the house without his water and now sometimes he forgets about it.
About 1 week ago or so he got what it looks like a cold sore on the upper lip. I'm applying a calendula ointment and it seems to be getting better (still red but drying)
So far he has not got any colds or any other ailments except the coughing which only gets worse at night time, but it is definetely improving. The polen season is still very active in our area.
Sometimes he still gets scared at night but I don't have to leave the big light on anymore, just the night light works well for him now.
These are the changes that i've seem so far.
Let me know what is the next step.

If his symptoms of wheezing worsen you should give him three doses of Phos 30c at a gap of 4 hours for only one day and see how he responds in the next 10 days. This should not be done very often, you will have to take this decision judiciously.
Whenever he suffers from coughing problem you may give him the tissue salts as above for few days. There is no need to give anything regularly.
