Dr. Bagyavasan, what can you recomend for my 8 yr old daughter with asthma?

Hello,
My Daughter has been suffering from mild asthma since two. She will only get asthma when she has a cold in the winter and fall seasons. Her symptom is a constant cough, no wheezing. Please advise to what other information you will need. Please note that I am very new to homeopathy. I will look forward to your advice.
Thanks, Nilsa

Nilsa,
Thanks for the question. if the wheezing is not often and also if it is just cough who branded your daughter to have asthma.
Well anyways just if you could give me more insight on the state of the child, like is the difficulty in breathing is only during winter how does it subside.
if she is coughing then which time of the day is it more, is there sputum coming out with the cough.

with what is she feeling better.
also give me a blood report(if possible a recent one) which you have taken for the same condition.

Thanks.

The difficulty in breathing is during fall and winter seasons. It is not much if any wheezing but a constant cough with out sputum, very dry. She will start coughing once cold symptoms start (sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose..) during morning, most day and evening (worse morning and evenings). Her pattern has been that after a day or so with the above, the dry cough gets more and more constant and moves to be worse at night to the point that she cant sleep and is up all night. She is not able to speak a word or two without coughing and at times gags. At this point she is in her RED zone. I do hear any chest congestion but nasal. She has been prescribed Pulmicort as a daily medication and albuterol (two to four hours when having the asthma attack) as her rescue medication by her physician. If/when she gets to the point that she is not able to speak because of the cough and the rescue medication is not working, then Dr. will start her on Prednisolone (Orapred) for 5 days. After two - tree days she is back to normal no cough.
I am not sure what a blood report is. Is it blood work? She has not have any done recently.
Thanks for your prompt answer.

Well thanks for the post and the medicines indicate the problem, there is nothing to worry, a blood report is a blood work, ok that is not of importance now, i should suggest you to give a medicine called spongia tosta 30 if you can get it form liquid form and then give her 4 drops in the morning and 4 just before she goes to bed, for a weeks time and then let me know how it goes, is she given albuterol inhalers or oral doses? i should ask you to stop giving them on for a while and only give if the situation goes very bad.

And also corticosteriods like prednisolone are given at the 'nothing to do stage', eventhough pediatric doses are fine to be given i personally would avoid such drugs to the max possible extent, but do intimate me if you are about to give any of them.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. For the albuterol I have both inhaler and liquid but I give her the inhaler most of the time(when needed)and I only use the liquid if the inhaler is not helping fast enough. Should I stop giving her daily Pulmicort (inhaler) dosage altogether? Should I only give the spongia tosta 30 only when she starts the cold symptoms? Would you recommend daily medicine/supplement when she is not displaying any symptoms or colds? Also, any foods she should stay away from??

ya stop the inhalers for now and we will see how it goes if the situation goes out of control then give her a dose of inhaler, otherwise try to control things with spongia alone. Also we may have to give her some daily medicines but now it is too early to decide on it, so i am giving this medicine for a week and then seeing the changes we will set her a long term medication.
The foods that you might avoid are the ones that cause the problem, otherwise nothing specific, if you find any foods that causes her problem then keep her away form them, but otherwise no restrictions.
Thanks.

Hello Dr.Bagyavasan,
It has been over 4 months since our last communication. I have not had to give daughter Natalia any meds for her asthma because she had a good winter. Just a few flare ups but nothing out of control. I never gave her the spongia because by the time I got around to it spring was here and she does well in spring and summer. Now that the summer is almost over and that school is about to begin,I get concern because this is her worst time (fall/winter/colds). I want to get prepared therefore I am getting the spongia tosta but I wander if there is anything else I can be doing to get ready? Thank you so much for your advice.
Nilsa
