2 year old - bad eczema- homeopathy not working

Hi, can anyone help? My 2 year old boy has very bad eczema on the backs of his knees and lower legs. We visited a homeopath on 3rd December who prescribed an MMR remedy to counteract the vaccine and sulphur 6. He had two doses of MMR a week apart, by the middle of the 2nd week, his whole body broke out: eyes, face, shoulders, torso, tops of legs - mainly in spots. I was then asked to give him 1 dose of sulphur. Anyway, long story short, we kept giving him sulphur every few days at the homeopaths direction - condition would improve very slightly and then stop - then sulphur 6 every other day when things seemed to stop progressing - things started to get worse again. Scratching a lot more and bleeding again. Started using steroid cream - only 1% a few days ago, which has calmed redness, but it is just surface improvement. I can still see it raging underneath. Has started scratching again and drawing blood. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, I wonder whether sulphur 6 is the right remedy for him?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
The remedy I have used to help many cases similar to your 2 year old's Eczema is Arnica 6c in the Wet dose which is made up as follows:

Order the remedy in a 5ml Ethanol pack in a bottle with a dropper arrangement.
If this is not available the Dry dose in pellets may be use but this is not as effective as the remedy in the original Ethanol pack
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy or 5 pellets into the bottle and shake it hard to produce bubbles. This is homeopathic succussion and must be done every time before a capful of the bottle which is the dose is taken as directed.

Give your boy a capful of the remedy water twice daily and also apply the water on his lesions as often as possible.

You should observe some improvement in his condition on about the third day into this therapy.

Please report his response on the third day.

It is understood that you will not give him any other drug while he is using this Arnica therapy.

Hi

My son is 4.5 years old and it seems like he is also not responding to homeopathic remedies. I have tried a lot of remedies based on practitioners.

I have just now ordered Arnica 6C in pellet form. The company here does not sell it in liquid form.

My question is when I first drop 5 pellets in 500ml bottled water and give that water to my son, the next time I give him, should I drop another 5 pellets into the bottle?

Please reply and thank you for your assistance.

Hi Jo, thanks for your reply. Could you enlighten me as to what an 'ethanol pack' is? I have contacted my local pharmacy and they sell arnica 6c in a bottle with a dropper - it is a 30ml bottle. Does it matter if it is not an 'ethanol pack?'

When I apply the solution to his lesions should I pour it onto some cotton wool? Also should the bottle be kept in the fridge or room temperature and how long does it last? Sorry for all the questions, relatively new to the 'wet dose' method.

Shall I stop using the steroid cream? I hadn't used it for some months as I wanted to avoid it, and it certainly doesn't seem to be helping now. However, my homeopath had said it wouldn't interfere with the treatment if I felt I needed to use it, but it would just slow it down. Does it matter if I use other non steroid creams, i.e. emulsifying ointment which is petroleum based.

I look forward to your replies. Many thanks.

Eczema is body's method of throwing the disease to the surface (skin) so as to protect the precious internal organs like brain, heart, etc, or whatever the case may be.

Unless the underlying problem is solved, the eczema will not go.

There are remedies that work on eczema but unless the remedy is well indicated and works on the underlying disease, eczema resurfaces soon after the remedy is stopped.

Overdozing of inappropriate remedy results in the following:

(1) Suppression of the problem. Eczema disappears from the skin but goes deep inside to attack other organs.

(2) Eczema breakouts on the entire body.

In a nutshell, you need to see a competent homeopath to solve this problem. The homeopath will treat the child and not just the eczema.

On this site, there is only one person who can do this - Sameer Vermani.

Otherwise, you would be better off with no treatment then treating your child with homeopathy.

Patient,

Please buy what is called as LIQUID DILUTION in a Homeopathic Stores (Ethanol is less commonly used term for the same)

I strongly suggest to go with Joe's recommendation on Arnica 6c. This is far intelligent prescription by helping the body to fight the eczema. It is safe and use it with confidence.

Giving Sulphur in the name of constitutional medicine or classical Homeopathy is a utter ignorance. The action of sulphur is to throw the toxins outside through the skin. Giving this to a already suffering 2 year old is ignorance to the peak and shows the doctor's lack of experience.

There are remedies that experienced doctors used for 40+ years and documented to deal with the skin disorders, instead of blind sighted with symptom-matching methods. They recommend to promote toxin removal through kidney, bowel and respiration and I have used them over and over and found permanent results with excellent health improvement following such treatment.

Finally I agree with the comment that it should NOT be driven back into the system with steroids. Otherwise, it will affect the vital organs.

Hi Reva V and thank you for your response. I have purchased the arnica 6c and started that with my boy today, will give it a few days as suggested by Joe and see how things are.

Are you a qualified homeopath able to advise on a correct remedy for skin disorders? I am guessing you will need a lot more information to be able to do that.

Thanks

Hi Dubai
Thank you for your response also. I will try the arnica firstly and see what sort of a response we get. Have taken your comments on board and will keep them in mind.
Many thanks

Hi Joe

Just to update you with my son. He has had the arnica in the wet dose for 4 days now and we stopped using the steroid cream 3 days ago. the redness has come probably due to stopping the steroid cream. It is looking quite dark again - it covers a large surface area behind the knees, probably about the size of a large pear. I would say the scratching has reduced. I also have an arnica cream which I put on him 2 days ago, he reacted quite strongly to it - it must have been too strong as it went very red and he immediately started scratching and drew blood. I quickly washed it off and bathed with the arnica solution. This morning the patches were extremely dry and flaky. Difficult to tell whether or not it is improving. I will wait to hear your comments.

Many thanks.

It is best not to experiment with Homeopathic remedies when treating an ailment in the same manner that one does not experiment with drugs OTC or otherwise.

You have discovered that Arnica cream which is only good to treat any internal injury which is not an open wound like a sprain, cannot be used for Eczema.

You are the best judge of whether or not Arnica is the remedy of choice by judging your baby's response and you have already observed that you were able to stop the steroid cream which confirms that it is.

Stay with the Arnica 6c in the Wet dose as prescribed and your baby will respond in a few days and hopefully will be cured in a few weeks.

To eczMom

My apologies for not having answered your query in your post of January 26 which I have just noticed.

I note that you have ordered the Arnica 6c in the pellets. I have always recommended the Liquid Dilution of a remedy as it by far more effective than the pellets. If you find that your son's Eczema does not respond to the remedy made with pellets you will have to get the Liquid Dilution. Remember that we are using 3 DROPS of the remedy in 400ml water and you will note that the dilution is almost infinite.

Answering your question, you do not need to use 5 pellets every time you give him a dose. You will follow the instructions as prescribed, precisely and give your son a capful of the bottle after shaking it hard before each dose. You will also dampen the lesions as often as possible with the remedy water from the bottle.

Hi Joe
Thanks for your last post. I stopped the steroid cream only because I knew it was not treating the underlying cause and I was under the impression you wanted me to stop it. I do believe however that there has been some improvement in the eczema. However,he has had a high temperature 39 over the last 24 hours and I have been giving him 4 hourly medicine to keep it down as well as tepid baths. He has really not been himself. He has also had diarrohea. Do you think this could be from the arnica treatment? The eczema however does seem improved, the surface of the skin is much smoother and it is not as angry looking, definitely paler in appearance. Though it does get darker as the day goes on.

I look forward to your feedback.

This is to clarify your interpretation of my advice.

Your post of January 31:

I am glad to note that you have stopped the Steroid Cream as advised by me. All I wished to convey to you in my last post was to request you not to experiment with Homeopathic Remedies in the same manner that you do not experiment with Drugs (Allopathic) if you do not know what they are meant for. The Arnica cream applied directly on the lesions created an immediate reaction and you should never use it in future.

Continue with the Arnica 6c as intructed and your 2 year old will soon be OK.

Do let me know how he progresses on a weekly basis.

Dear Dr Joe De Livera,

What about the ECHINACEA Q if the patient use it along with Arnica 6c

Dr Riaz last decade
Please note that I am not qualified in Homeopathy but I have studied it for the last 40 years and use it in a manner that is not strictly Homeopathic.

A cardinal principle that I observe in prescribing is never to suggest a remedy that I have not used either personally or have observed its effect on another patient.

This has enabled me to achieve a high record of success in my therapy aka 'Joepathy' and the results are all there on the WWW for anyone interested to read.

I have never used Echinacea Q and would hesitate to prescribed it to a 2 year old baby. I would appreciate if you will please give me more data on your own experience with this remedy and how it helps Eczema.

Dear Joe,

I have use the same remedy in such type cases and I achieved good results. Actually such type skin infection go on due to blood poisoning and the Echinacea Q work very well in such cases. I hope you will have its full description if not I reprocduce its full description from HOMOEOPATHIC MATERIA MEDICA by William BOERICKE, M.D. for your ready reference:
ECHINACEA ANGUSTIFOLIA
Purple Cone-flower
(ECHINACEA - RUDBECKIA)
We are indebted to the Eclectic school for this remarkable medicine
as a 'corrector of blood dyscrasia'. Acute auto-infection. Symptoms
of blood poisoning, septic conditions generally. Diarrhoea in typhoid.
Gonorrhoea. Boils. Erysipelas and foul ulcers. Gangrene. Goitre with
exophthalmic symptoms; full doses, also injecting 5-10 drops into
thyroid gland. Tendency to malignancy in acute and subacute
disorders. Last stages of cancer to ease pain. Venom infection.
Cerebro-spinal meningitis. Puerperal infections. Tired feeling. Piles.
Pustules. Acts on vermiform appendix thus has been used for
appendicitis, but remember it promotes suppuration and a neglected
appendicitis with pus formation would probably rupture sooner
under its use. Lymphatic inflammation; crushing injuries. Snake
bites and bites and stings generally. Foul discharges with emaciation
and great debility.
Head.--Confused, depressed. Aches with a peculiar periodical
flushing of the face, even to the neck; dizziness and profound
prostration.
Nose.--Foul-smelling discharge, membranous formations protruding.
Post-nasal catarrh with ulceration and fetor. Nose feels stuffed up.
Right nostril raw, bleeding.
Mouth.--Canker; gums recede and bleed easily; corners of mouth
and lips crack; tongue dry and swollen; sores; dirty brownish.
Tongue, lips, and fauces tingle, with sense of fear about heart
(Acon). White coating of tongue, with red edges. Promotes the flow

Thank you for your advice on Echinacea Q but as stated before, I would not like to risk prescribing it for a 2 year old baby.

I do have reference to Boericke and about 100 + Homeopathic Text Books on Radar which I too use occasionally whenever I wish to have another opinion before I prescribe a remedy.

Let us await the report from the mother KJSINGS on the progress of her baby's Eczema after she has used Arnica 6c in the Wet dose for a few days more before we change it if necessary.

Dear joe,

Gun powder 3x is also very very good remedy, can use in such type cases.

To H I

I was alerted to this thread which dates back to February 2010 which you have dug up from the archives.

I do admire your tenacity in digging it up and I note that you have copied and pasted your standard welcome post to Dr Riaz with whom I was in contact a year ago when we were jointly trying to help the mother of a 2 year old who presented Eczema.

Did you really expect Dr Riaz to complete your questionnaire or in the alternative did you expect the mother of the patient to do so?

It seems to me that the patient, the 2 year old boy who should be now over 3 years old, may have already been cured by my 'Joepathy' of his Eczema although the mother did not confirm this as is usual with patients who very rarely acknowledge any cure although the absence of a cure is immediately reported. I have observed this form of seemingly miracle cure in many hundreds of cases of chronic Eczema I have treated in the past with Arnica 6c in the Wet dose as it first dries up the exudation and the itching of Eczema in under 24 hours and the patient is usually cured in 3 days.

This is in complete contrast to your classical philosophy where you will as usual first criticize my therapy and then proceed to prescribe a remedy which you consider is the ultimate classical remedy which must cure. If it misfires, like what happened in another recent case, it is not the remedy that is responsible, but the fault would be the patient's !

In any case please keep up your good work.
