Menstrual Migraine

Im 44 yrs old. I have been suffering from excruciating migraine attacks from the past 16yrs. It starts just before or during my menses and lasts for 2-3 days. It is usually on the left side. I feel nauseaous, sensitive to light, noise and strong odour. Im otherwise quite healthy. I try to exercise atleast 3 times a week and Im a vegetarian.
Over the counter medication is not helping me anymore. Please suggest a treatment for me. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Thanks for your response SriSri.
Personality: I’m not a type A personality but I do have some features of Type A. I get stressed out easily and I have always been a worrier! I feel like no matter how hard I plan, things always go wrong.
I have good appetite, no cravings or aversions to any food
I cant be out in the sun long that triggers my headaches.
Events: Two events in my life might have affected me; I have overcome all those now. My Mother had a very bad marriage; I can still remember my father abusing her both physically and verbally. He left us when I was only 4 yrs old. The other major event in my life was when my sister became mentally sick and later diagnosed as schizophrenic. I have worked very hard and taken care of both my Mother and Sister, they are both fine now.

You need Nat Mur but directly taking it may aggravate your sufferings. Let us start with its acute Bryonia.

Please take Bryonia 30C next time you have menstrual migraine and report.

Dear Sri

You are right that the patient should not take her constitutional remedy during the acute stage of her sufferings. But why do you think that the treatment cannot be started with Natrum Mur when there is no acute stage. In acute stage she can still take bry if natrum mur fails to cure in the first potency given. You may also consider Lachesis and Lycopodium. On the basis of MM this may seem wrong but Nash suggest something to this effect in his book Leaders in .....
Similarly while giving the suggestion it is better if clear cut instructions are given in respect of how to take a dose and how many doses are to be taken.
i think that you are doing your pg now. i see in you a budding PV.

Sincerely Yours.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Now, should I take Nat Mur, Bryonia, Lachesis or Lycopodium? which would be the best for my condition?
What is the dosage and how many times a day? are these tablets or tintures?

Please wait for Sri. He has worked very well on your case.

Next time you have migraine, please take Bry 30 - one dose and post feedback. We will work from there.

Dear Kadwa,

It is seen very often that Nat Mur comes in only after all its acutes are exausted or else unwanted aggravations are experienced. Especially in head aches.

The problem with online case taking is patients do not think the symptoms we are asking are not important. Mostly because they are conditioned by allopathy. So it may well be Lach. More questioning will help. It may not by Lyco because she is complaining of left sided migraines. Having said that, sides can be ignored.

If you see my earlier posts, I used to be more detailed about dosage. Somehow, in recent times, I am not doing that. Thanks for bringing it up.

I am a practicing Homeopath for years now. I do not do it for a living though. I volunteer in free dispensaries.

Sri Sri

SriSri, Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your advise. I have never taken Homeopathic medication for my Migraines before. Please let me know how many tablets I should be taking and how many times a day? Thanks once again.

Let us do it this way:

Day 1 (Not during periods): Nat Mur 200c - One dose i.e., 8 to 10 pills or 2 drops in 30 ml water.

Day 2 onwards: Kali Sulph 6x - 2 tabs at night.

During the periods:

Start taking Mag Phos 6X - 2 tabs per day even before the periods start and continue till they are over.

If there is (unbearable) headache, please take Bry 30c - Upto 2 doses per day depending on the intensity of the headache.

OR

Please post your symptoms for guidance.
