Help for teen with Asperger's

We have looked for years for help with my son who has Asperger's. He's made a lot of progress, but he still has a number of tendencies that will make his life in college and beyond very difficult.

He's very good natured, funny at home, completely quiet in groups. No ability to organize stuff or time. Little initiative, but highly focused on things he loves (of course--he has Asperger's!)

He has a geographic tongue and, when young, suffered form bad breath that was helped only by Therabreath mouth wash.

Even though he is almost all muscle, he has almost no energy at all and tires easily. His ability to focus is poor, as is his ability to remember directions or a series of numbers. He is all muscle, slender, and lots of hair on chest and legs.

Our biggest concerns are with his social awkwardness and his ability to manage a normal workload, and to organize his world.

Any help you can provide would be helpful.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi,

More information is needed about his behaviour, level of affection for family, likes/dislikes, fears and his general preferences in food , environment etc..

Any odd traits about him must be mentioned.

Okay, here goes...
Max likes working alone; in groups, he just backs off and lets others do everything. He loves potatoes, tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, ham, most green food, zucchini, salad, cheese, omelets, chocolate. We think he's sensitive to wheat, so we avoid it. The only thing he really 'fears' are loud noises. If you raise your voice to him about a problem, he shuts down. He doesn't communicate well at all -- doesn't like to be praised in front of others. He loves to study snails. He loves classical music. He has a black-and-white sense of right and wrong. He has a 'geographic tongue' that is usually milky and splotchy on the surface. He has struggled with acne for several years, but it is better of late -- perhaps because we are avoiding wheat. He love to drink juice -- orange juice, grape juice, etc. He's not nearly as fond of meat as he is vegetables and fruit. He's very fond of his family, very much a homebody. He and his dad are very close. He is the oldest of three, one brother and one sister. He adores them both. Max has to 'decompress' after being in groups or crowds. He shuts down under the pressure of deadlines and lots of studying. He can't read music, but he can play by ear.
He loves exploring outside, and he loves to draw.
That's all I can think of for now.

Hi. I know you posted this 8 years ago and so hopefully your problems are solved. But I just had to reply since this sounds like me in your description of his personality, geographic tongue and drawing. I hope you found an answer. I am a 29 year old female with aspergers and struggle with the pain of my tongue many times. I have to gargle with something that can numb but otherwise have not found a solution with diet or anything. Hards foods do make it worse but it never goes away.
