Saw Palmetto/ mid cycle spotting?
I am a 36 year old female who has recently started using Saw Palmetto Plus Selenium and Vit D.I also Use NFP and so am very in tune with my body. As soon as I started using this suppliment I had a spotting episode Cd 15/16/17 (that is cycle calender date from first day of period.) I assumed that was break through bleeding due to the release of the ovum.
As a precaution I stopped taking the suppliment, tested for pregnancy which was as I suspected negative at cd 23, well into when I would be able to get a positive if I were pregnant.
I am 99.9 percent sure I am not pregnant as I know my body well. But today I had another spotting episode after two days back on the suppliment.
My question is can Saw Palmetto cause vaginal/uterine spotting?
In the fact that I have an absence of cervical mucus I am certain it is not break through bleeding. Though I am not willing to run the risk as we don't wish to become pregnant right now.
Please advise. Thank you.
(And please, if you wish to lambast my birth control choices keep it to yourself. We have had three planned pregnancies in 11 years using nfp and don't pollute our environment with hormones or latex. Thx.)
